Chapter Sixteen
"Peggy, wake up, please," Angelica urged. It was midnight and the boys hadn't returned.
"Leave me alone." Peggy complained.
"Peggy, get up. It's urgent," Maria said in an annoyed tone.
Peggy sat up. "Why are you so mad?"
"Maybe because it's you fault that this whole mess happened with Eliza."
Peggy snapped, "It's not my fault. Maybe she and I wouldn't have fought if you had kept your lips to yourself. At least I don't kiss the first person I see when my boyfriend isn't there."
Maria scoffed. "Well at least I can get a boyfriend in the first place."
Peggy's eyes widened. "Well, obviously. Everyone would want things that are cheap. Only few people can afford luxuries."
Maria stuttered. "Well- uh- you- I mean- I-"
"Just admit it. You're taking your anger out on me for no reason." Peggy said in a low tone.
Maria sighed. "I guess."
Angelica smirked. "Alex was away for some time. He came back with a box of food. While you three were sleeping, he passed by quickly. Why he left, I don't know. It was all so suspicious."
"Should we wake up Theo, then?" Maria asked.
"Nah. More for us," Angelica said with a smirk.
She plopped the box on the ground. Peggy's eyes shone with delight. "I get first!" She ran towards it and opened it. However, as soon as she opened it, she let out the loudest scream ever heard and ran towards the door, or where the door should have been.
Theo woke up. "What is going on?"
Angelica laughed and turned to Peggy. "Why are you running?"
Peggy mocked her. "WhY aRe YOu RuNniNg?"
"It's just a cute snake." Angelica lifted it. "I shall call him.. SQUISHY!!!"
Maria eyed her. "Angie, you don't know if that's poisonous."
It was now slithering around Angelica's hand. "Oh, come on. It's not a coral snake . It's just a milk snake. It imitates it with its colors."
Suddenly, the snake bit her hand, the blood oozing from it. Angelica squealed.
Theo glared at it. "Angie, red against yellow, kill a fellow. Red against black, friend to Jack."
Angelica looked at it slowly.
Red.
Yellow.
Black.
Yellow.
Red.
Yellow.
"AAHHH! GET IT AWAY!" she screamed.
She began to feel weak, and her vision was blurry now. Her breathing was abnormal. The last thing she saw were the desperate faces of Theo, Maria and Peggy.
