Chapter Nine
"Hey, can you tell us what to do when you stop canoodling?" yelled Maria from the top.
Lafayette pulled away, and by default, so did Thomas and Alexander, going back to the way it was before. Lafayette hushed Maria and signaled her to jump in the pool. She hesitated, but the three of them could tell- from what they could see- that she motioned everyone to do the same. then, in a swift motion, she made a perfect dive into the pool. Thomas, Alex and Laf watched as everyone would do the same. John was the last one to go, but he was scared. To avoid making any sounds, he used sign language to communicate with Alex, which was the only other one that knew it.
I'm scared. John signed.
You can do it, Alex replied.
John gulped before jumping.
One second passed, another, and another...
And John wouldn't come back up.
Alex, without warning, jumped back in. John's eyes were open wide as he struggled to swim. Alex quickly grabbed him and took him out. Everyone sighed of relief. John gasped fresh air and started crying silently. Alex rushed to his side. "Is everything okay?"
John eyed him. "Yeah, I'm just washing my eyes."
"I'm serious."
"Of course I'm not okay! I was drowning! You took so long!"
"But I didn't know that you ca-"
"And I didn't know that rescuing Laf required you taking off your shirt."
The entire group turned their heads to listen at that moment.
"What do you mean?" asked Alex.
John put his hand up to silence Alex. "Sweetie, you gotta do better than playing dumb."
"But I-"
"Stop it! You like someone, don't you? You-"
"John, I love you!"
The whole group gasped silently. Maria was trying not to giggle. John slowly smiled. "You- you do?"
Alex sighed. "Yes, yes I do."
John jumped and threw himself at Alex, locking lips with him. Everyone awed. Well, almost everyone. Thomas looked away, disgusted. At least, that's what he kept telling himself to convince himself that he did not like Alexander Hamilton.
