Chapter Fifteen
Escaping the test is considered a very serious crime. Just let that sink in.
Descending the hill, the group walked slowly and silently. They had buried John and Eliza in the dry land and had put rocks on top. Alex and Maria wouldn't even look at John and Eliza. They would lean onto each other and just cry.
The city looked abandoned. More like ancient ruins. And believe me every city looked the same. New York had once been the greatest city in the world, and not it looked like pure trash.
They reached the bottom of the hill, thirsty. Luckily, there was one shed that was not entirely broken, and it seemed to be open.
They all walked into the shed with tears in their eyes. If Eliza and John's death hadn't made them cry, the dry day did.
The girls plopped down as soon as they got there, but the guys were willing to find them food. All the girls began to protest, but Thomas said, "I bet you guys need to eat." The girls didn't say anything else. "What do you want?" he asked.
"Ice cream, doritos, pizza and fries," they all said at once.
For a brief second, everyone cracked a smile. Alexander's voice cracked as he said smiling,"How did you manage to say that at the same time?"
"Girls," James laughed.
"Hey!" Maria yelled, throwing a small piece of wood at him. James dodged it.
"We'll be back, then." Aaron said.
The eight guys walked around to find a store. They did after 20 minutes. There were two men, a phone nearby, and the store was full of cotton candy, chips, soda, ice cream and gum. They went to talk to the cashiers. "Listen," Thomas started. "I'm not a troublemaker. And neither are my friends. We only have two nickels, but we can pay off some other way. anything you need. But our female friends back where we rest need some food."
One of the men was about to answer when the news anchor said something that caught everyone's attention. "In a school in New York City, there were 15 students that escaped the test known to be the solution to cure our planet. Several of them had failed the test, while others had helped them escape. "
While the news anchor kept talking, the pictures of every single one of them was being shown on the TV. When she moved on, all of their eyes went from the TV to the cashiers. One of them had the phone and was saying, "C-44. Again, C-44."
They all started to run when the sound of a gun cocking made all of them freeze. "Don't fucking move."
Sorry I haven't published anything. Writer's block is horrible.
Anyway, so we're doing 21 Chump St. in drama class and for my audition I sang "This is Me" from The Greatest Showman (an amazing song by the way) and the song makes me cry so I was holding back tears and my voice cracked. My monologue was okay though.
Oh well!
