An Inspirational Poem

Hey guys...

Ever since this whole thing with Parkland (especially the fight about gun control after this), I have been working on something to bring everyone's hopes up, including myself.

I felt impacted by these events, even though I didn't know anyone.

Therefore, I wrote this. I just finished it now. I wanted to share this as my way of taking a stance. Enjoy it... and comment your thoughts!

Children are the ones that experience the happiest hours, or so they say.

Everyone whose feet have roamed this Earth for less time are oblivious, or so they say.

Or so they say that we are unequal to the elders because according to them, we are powerless

Or so they say that teenagers and youngsters can't scream as loud as the rest of the world can

But is what they say really true?

They say that we bring this upon ourselves,

That we ourselves make our bodies paper and put the target on us, vulnerable and fragile

That we are the real cause, and that we only are attention-seeking fools

And this is a sorry attempt at victimizing ourselves and falsely blaming them for our problems.

But is what they say really true?

No. We are not wrong. We are moving mountains with the snap of our fingers,

Our thundering voice can be heard from space and tear down empires.

We are not naive or stupid, we are not powerless or weak or blind or deaf or mute.

So how can they tell me to shut up and to not see reality, to not hear the cries of pain?

Children are oblivious, and teenagers are powerless and attention-seeking, or so they say,

But what they say doesn't define who we really are, and it never will, because it isn't and will

never be true,

And change will be coming much sooner than ever, because we are powerful.
