Surviving Number 8. Part 4.

The members stood frozen for a moment.

Ky looked around. "Where'd Hobi and Taehyung go?"

"They're resting," Yoongi informed him. So leave them the hell alone, asshole.

Jin's anger resurfaced the moment Ky had walked back in the door. He wondered who the hell Ky thought he was hurting his dongsaengs like he had and leaving just to return like nothing had happened.

"You need to apologize to both of them," Jin demanded. His members looked at him wide eyed like their hyung had grown a second head. They wondered how he had so much bravery to actually say what he wanted to Ky, especially after everything that's happened lately.

Ky took a step towards Jin. "Excuse me?"

Jin stood his ground and didn't take a step back. He felt a lump of anxiety form in his throat, but he didn't want Ky to know he was so nervous. That wouldn't do anyone any good. If Ky knew the grip of fear he had on them, that would only give Ky more power over them.

"I said you need to-" Jin started to repeat himself.

Ky cut him off. "I heard what the fuck you said. And I know you're not telling me what to do?"

Namjoon looked around at his other members and wondered if they had become as anxious as he had. They all seemed to be still as statues. Namjoon grabbed the back of Jin's shirt, "Hyung...maybe..." Maybe don't start a fight right now?

Jin shrugged Namjoon off and kept his focus on Ky. "I am telling you that you need to apologize to them. They did nothing to you and you treated them both like shit this morning."

Ky silently took another step forward and got right in Jin's face. Jin could feel himself start to shake a bit, but he refused to back up.

The others weren't feeling as brave as their hyung. Yoongi, Namjoon, Jimin, and Jungkook all took a frightened step backwards. Jimin even stepped behind Namjoon to hide a bit. He wasn't used to fighting, the members never fought with each other and now he was about to witness a fight for the third time today. He was stressed out and overwhelmed. He wanted to run away and hide in his room, cuddle up with his Hobi hyung, but he wasn't sure what that would do at the moment. He didn't want to dare do anything that would make Ky even more angry, Jin seemed to be pulling that off all on his own right now.

Ky and Jin stared angrily in silence at each other. There was definitely a power struggle between the two. Jin refused to let Ky take control of everyone while Ky was determined to secure his place as the oldest hyung who needed to be in charge and respected by everyone. Jin may have been okay with that if Ky had been different, more like them, but Ky was nothing but an asshole and he didn't want someone like that in control.

Ky finally spoke up. "Did I not already tell you I will speak my mind? I don't care who I offend." He looked down at Jin, who he was hovering over threateningly. The members hated that not only was Ky the oldest, but he was also quite bigger and stronger than all of them.

"How can you not care if you hurt people?" Jin pouted.

"Other peoples emotions are not my responsibility."

"So what you're saying is you just don't care about other people at all? Is there anyone in your life you do care about?" Jin asked curiously.

"No, and this group isn't about to change that either," Ky spat at Jin. Ky looked over and saw Yoongi roll his eyes. He brushed past Jin and stopped right in front of Yoongi. The rapper felt his palms begin to sweat. He hated that Ky made him this nervous already. It'd barely been a day since the man moved in with them and he already created such a mess.

"Do you have something to say about that, Min Yoongi?" Ky spat.

Yoongi couldn't find words so he shook his head. He had thought he was a lot braver than this, but right now he wasn't so sure. It was different when the others were this involved. If it was just him fighting with Ky maybe he would have said anything he wanted, but with his members all tensed up, and his maknae standing scared behind him, he knew now wasn't the time to make things worse.

"Leave him alone," Jimin chimed in sternly. As nervous as he was, he was angry seeing Ky bothering his hyungs. Why can't Ky just go away? Why does he have to make things harder and drag this whole ordeal out?

"Hyung...don't..." Jungkook whispered to Jimin nervously. He felt like he was about to throw up all over the floor as he tried to steady his breathing. His heart was ready to beat right out of his chest with fear. He wondered how mad Ky had to be to do something worse than the things he'd already done. It seemed like everyone was doing their fair share of pissing the man off at this point.

Ky turned his attention from Yoongi and brought it to Jimin instead. He walked over to him. "Now I know you sure as hell aren't ordering me around. You're one of the youngest ones here. You have absolutely no say or authority."

"That is not true," Jin said angrily. "Our youngest members always have a say."

Jimin stared at Ky who had gotten uncomfortably too close to him.

"I guess we will see about that, won't we?" Ky replied aggressively while looking at Jimin. Jimin had never felt so small in his life, and in the moment he wished he could evaporate into thin air and disappear. He didn't have anything to say in return. He didn't want to say anything. Maybe if he kept his mouth shut this monster would disappear too. It seemed to have worked, because Ky began to step away from all of them. He looked around at everyone in silence for a moment.

The members stared at Ky wondering what he would say, or do, next. They were all confused yet relieved when instead of continuing this argument further he silently turned and stormed away to his room. They all let out deep breaths they hadn't realized they had been holding in.

Namjoon turned to Jin and screamed. "Are you crazy?!"

"Me?! What about you guys?! You should have kept quiet, he was just getting angrier!" Jin yelled defensively.

"Well we weren't about to let him be an asshole to you without at least trying to help!" Jimin cried.

Jungkook didn't say anything. His head was spinning. What the hell just happened?

"I thought he was about to hit someone," Namjoon replied nervously. It hadn't happened yet, but he couldn't say he'd be surprised if it did eventually.

"Over my dead body would I let him do that," Yoongi told his leader. He looked over and saw Jungkook standing there silent. He realized the maknae was shaking. He walked over and hugged him. "Hey. You're alright."

Yoongi's hug made Jungkook's tears finally fall from his eyes. He had been holding them in, but he felt safe enough to let them out now. "Yeah," was his only reply. The rest of them surrounded him.

"Please don't cry," Jimin begged. He'd already seen Jungkook upset earlier, it killed him seeing it happen twice.

"I'm sorry," the youngest sniffled.

Yoongi wiped Jungkook's tears. "Don't be sorry."

"Hyungs?" Jungkook started, "I hate to admit that he...he scares me."

"I think he scares all of us," Namjoon replied.

Jin felt his heart crack. Knowing Ky was winning in scaring all of his dongsaengs, and himself, devastated him. Their house had never known anything but love and Ky was successfully ruining that.

He wrapped his arms around everyone and pulled them all into a tight hug, "It's been a long morning. Let's just try to forget this and carry on with the day, yeah?"

Yoongi sighed. "We can try. But hyung?" he looked at Jin. "You told us not to make him angry on purpose. I'd say that goes for you too."

"I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to. He's very frustrating. I couldn't not say something about what he did."

"I understand," Yoongi replied.

Everyone hugged for a while before separating. Namjoon asked if anyone wanted to go outside and shoot a basketball, he needed the fresh air and despite everything, it was a beautiful day outside. Jungkook said he'd love to go out and play for a bit.

Jimin decided to go check on Taehyung and Hobi, they were both asleep. He felt terrible. He knew the two must have been exhausted after everything that had happened with them earlier that day. He decided to rest in his own bed. He talked to his fish, Flyn, for a few moments and then grabbed one of Namjoon's books off the shelf. He wasn't all that tired and wanted his mind to drift off elsewhere, so a book would do for now.

Jin and Yoongi decided one of their greatest stress relievers had always been video games so they made their way into their room and turned on their gaming PC's. A new game had recently come out that the two already had a lot of fun playing together.

It had been relaxing for all of them to fall into their own world for a bit and be able to forget about Ky. The man seemed to be keeping to himself in his room. Nobody really cared what he was up to as long as he kept to himself and didn't bother them. Jin and Yoongi were deep into their game battling each other, Taehyung and Hobi were out cold, Jimin was really into the book he had picked out, and Namjoon and Jungkook were laughing together while playing basketball.

The fun was short lived for the two playing outside.

Namjoon saw Jungkook turn around with the ball in his hands, freeze with wide eyes, and drop the ball.

"What's wrong?" Namjoon asked. Jungkook was still frozen. Namjoon finally heard a voice behind him and turned.

"You two, let's go." Ky gestured to his car. He had changed his outfit since earlier.

Namjoon backed up and stood close to the maknae. "What?" he asked.

"I realized I have to shop, and I'm taking you two with me. Get in the car," Ky demanded.

The two stood there confused. What the fuck?

"You were out all morning...why didn't you just shop then? Why do we have to go?" Namjoon asked, annoyed.

"I need help," Ky replied.

"But why do we have to he-" Namjoon started but was cut off.

"Both of you get in the damn car," Ky spat as he gripped the buckle of the belt he was now wearing and started to unbuckle it. "Before I make you."

Jungkook was sure he was going to pass out right there in the middle of their basketball court. He looked at Namjoon who seemed just as shocked. No way, right? No way would Ky hit them with a belt just because they refused to get in his car?

Namjoon finally spoke up and said, "You wouldn't-"

"Now!" Ky screamed as he slid his belt out of the loops. Ky was willing to use harsher methods on the members to get control of them if that's what it took. Namjoon wasn't willing to risk it so he grabbed Jungkook's arm and ran for the car.

To his surprise, Jungkook pulled away. "No. I don't want to go with him," he pouted. His eyes were wet.

"Neither do I but I don't know what he will do if we don't," Namjoon said sympathetically.

"But we don't know what he plans to do with us if we do. What if he's trying to kill us or something?" Jungkook frowned.

"He could just as easily do that here."

"Hyung..." Jungkook's eyes went wide.

"I didn't mean it like that," Namjoon said frantically.

"We should get hyungs," the maknae suggested.

Ky's voice came from behind them. "You're not getting anyone. Get in the damn car."

The two looked at each other nervously before slowly both getting into the backseat. The two could only hope and pray that they really were going to the store.

Ky put his belt back on before hopping into the driver's seat. Namjoon sat in the middle seat to be closer to the maknae. The two both felt more comfortable being able to physically feel each other's presence. They wondered how long until the others realized they were missing. They didn't expect to leave the house so both of their phones were still inside.

The car ride was silent until Namjoon heard Jungkook's stomach start growling. He remembered that none of them had eaten much of breakfast and that was a while ago.

Jungkook felt his face flush with embarrassment as he clutched his arms across his stomach to try to hush it. Namjoon felt terrible seeing Jungkook feel bad for being hungry.

"Can we stop somewhere for food?" Namjoon decided to ask.

"No," Ky replied sternly.

"But..." Namjoon looked at Jungkook and Jungkook shook his head no, he didn't want Namjoon saying anything. "But I'm hungry." The rapper decided to claim it was him.

"I don't care," Ky replied.

Jungkook sunk into his seat a bit. He hoped this trip would be quick.

Namjoon leaned into Jungkook's ear and whispered, "You can get something at the store."

They both saw Ky look at them through the rear view mirror but he didn't say anything. To their relief, Ky actually was bringing them to the supermarket. They really didn't understand why he threatened them to come with him. Can this man not shop on his own? How much could he possibly need to even buy? The house had everything anyone needed anyway. His motives were questionable and confusing.

"Let's go," Ky demanded once they parked. The rapper and maknae hesitantly made their way out of the car and into the market. Ky commanded them to grab a cart as he grabbed his own.

"What exactly do you need?" Jungkook asked as they started following him around the store.

"Food," Ky replied.

Namjoon rolled his eyes, thankfully he wasn't caught like Yoongi had been earlier. "We have so much food at the house," the rapper informed.

"I don't care. I want to buy everything I like, so that you guys can all cook it for me."

"Why do we have to cook it?" Namjoon asked.

"Because that's a dongsaengs job."

"We aren't your slaves," Namjoon huffed.

"Then what's the point of a little brother?"

Jungkook frowned. Namjoon frowned right back at him. Jungkook clutched his stomach when he heard it start grumbling again. Namjoon saw the maknae eyeballing his favorite chips that were on the shelf so he grabbed them and threw them in the cart.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Ky said angrily. He grabbed the chips and threw them back on the shelf. "I didn't say you could buy anything."

"I can pay for it," Namjoon said. Jungkook silently watched the two. He hadn't asked Namjoon to grab those for him.

"No." Ky grabbed their cart and pulled it forward aggressively away from the chip aisle.

"You can't tell me what I can and can't buy with my own money." Namjoon stopped in his tracks and crossed his arms. As nervous as Ky could make him, he was getting angry and he was willing to stick up for himself. It's not like Ky would beat him in the middle of a store anyway. He at least hoped.

Ky grabbed at his belt buckle. "Do not test me, Namjoon."

Jungkook grabbed the back of Namjoon's shirt and tugged it. "Hyung stop, it's okay. Really. I can eat at home." He didn't want to see his hyung get in trouble.

"That's more like it," Ky smiled.

Jungkook frowned again. The last thing he'd ever want was any kind of praise from Ky. Everything Ky believed was good didn't align with what the members believed to be good.

Namjoon sighed as the two continued to follow Ky through the store. He was placing food they already had at home in the carts and it made them even more confused. They decided it was best not to question it anymore. There was no point. Ky would just yell at them or something.

"Go find this stuff and put it in your cart." Ky split his list in half and handed it to them. They listened and scurried away. Jungkook was confused when he realized he was following Namjoon right back through the chip aisle.

"What are you doing?" the maknae asked.

Namjoon grabbed the same bag of chips and threw them back in the cart.

"Hyung! He said no!" the youngest said in shock.

"So let him say no! He can't control what I buy with my own money, and you're hungry!"

"Put it back hyung, he's going to get mad at you."

Jungkook's stomach growled loudly again. Namjoon grabbed the bag of chips out of the cart. Just when Jungkook thought his hyung was going to put them back, he ripped the bag open instead. Namjoon cared more about his maknae's well being at the moment than he cared about getting in trouble. Let him be mad.

"Namjoon!" Jungkook yelled.

Namjoon shoved them in Jungkook's face. "You're obviously very hungry, so eat."

"What are you doing?" Jungkook complained.

"Taking care of you. And now I have no choice but to pay for them because I opened them, so you might as well eat."

Jungkook felt a pit in his stomach, but he couldn't resist. He was starving and they were his favorite chips, so he took the bag and started to eat.

"Well, thank you," Jungkook said.

Namjoon smiled. They continued to walk around the store and gather the rest of the things on their half of the list. When they were done they met back up with Ky. Ky looked at the bag in Jungkook's hands and looked at him with anger. He ripped the bag out of the maknae's hands.

"I told you guys no!" Ky screamed.

"It's my money, and he was hungry, Ky!" Namjoon yelled. They noticed people around them started staring. Jungkook was trying to keep his anxious breathing under control. He figured this was coming.

Ky gripped Namjoon's upper arm and squeezed it. He pulled Namjoon's face close to his. "I will deal with you when we get home," he threatened. Namjoon felt his pulse pick up. He didn't know what Ky planned to do, and he looked down at Ky's belt and hoped it had nothing to do with that. Even if he was in trouble, he still would have done it over again. He still cared way more about taking care of the maknae than he did over Ky's feelings.

Ky threw the chips on the conveyor belt at check out and made Namjoon pay for them. They finished buying everything and made their way to the car. The rapper and youngest stayed silent. The whole way home the car was quiet again, and Namjoon was trying to swallow the lump in his throat. He felt his forehead start to sweat. Jungkook grabbed his hand and squeezed it reassuringly.

What could he really do? It was just a bag of chips. Maybe he won't even be mad anymore when we get home. If he is mad, at least the others are all home. They won't let him punish me.

The car pulled back up to the house and Namjoon didn't know whether to feel nervous or more relieved. They were finally home but at the moment he wasn't sure if that was a good thing. Jungkook was still squeezing his hand.

Ky angrily got out of the car and immediately threw the door open on Namjoon's side. He started taking his belt back off as he gestured to Namjoon.

"You. Out of the fucking car. Now."
