Surviving Number 8. Part 26.

Junso took the witness stand first. The boys knew he no longer, and would never again, have the title of their manager. They could only hope he'd never earn the title of anyone's manager ever again. The members stared at Junso with a new sense of confidence. They knew no matter what happened, they would not allow themselves to fall victim to him or Ky ever again.

Jin, who was sitting next to Officer Lee, took a moment to lean towards the man's ear as he realized something. "Mr. Lee, sir," he whispered, "I was too frazzled to realize we don't have a lawyer! Don't we need one?! What about your brother, who you mentioned?"

Mr. Lee leaned over and couldn't help but chuckle. "Unfortunately he got a bit caught up in other cases and couldn't make it."

Jin felt a tinge of anxiety in his chest. He didn't know how they were supposed to win any kind of case without some kind of representative. Mr. Lee noticed Jin's nerves and placed a hand on his arm. "Relax, kiddo. After what you all just said up there, I don't think you even need one. You guys have all the evidence in the world. Those two snakes...they have nothing. By your guys' testimony alone I can guarantee you this judge is on your side." Mr. Lee pointed to the crowd behind them. "What do you notice, Jin?"

Jin realized that nobody was sitting behind the side that Ky and Junso were on. Everyone who had entered the courtroom had only taken seats behind the boys.

"Everyone who came, is here for us?" Jin felt tears welling his eyes. He didn't understand why they'd have that much support, he also didn't feel worthy of it but he wasn't going to complain.

"Jin, the entire world is here for you."

Jin's tears slipped down his cheeks. He couldn't hold them back anymore. He turned to his members who had all been listening in on their conversation, and were looking at their hyung with gentle smiles. They, too, were beginning to realize everything was going to be alright from here on out.

A lot of things happened at once as the courtroom broke out into absolute chaos. The members shot their attention back to Junso, who had started screaming from the witness stand.

He wasn't screaming at them, however.

He was screaming at Ky. "It was him! It was all fucking him!" Junso pointed at the man as he stood behind the podium. "That motherfucker! It was all that motherfucker right there! He's the one who got involved in all this mafia bullshit! Him! Not me! He's the criminal! He's the one who needed all these damn favors and money! What the hell was I supposed to do?! Huh?!"

Ky immediately stood up from his place in the courtroom and started screaming back at Junso. "You are just as involved as I was! Who are you calling a motherfucker?! And what a wonderful job you have done here, Junso. Landing us here because you can't control your sissy of a band!"

The members didn't realize that they had all huddled up against each other and were grabbing onto one another's arms for dear life. Seeing Junso's and Ky's anger sent them spiraling back into a very dark place. A place where all they knew was torture. Jimin took his face and buried it into Namjoon's shoulder as he started sobbing. Namjoon wrapped his arm around his dongsaeng's waist and clutched him tightly against him.

Security guards were running over and grabbing both Junso and Ky, dragging them both out of the room as they stumbled amidst the shackles around their ankles.

"I want to go home. I want to go home. I want to go home," Yoongi pleaded to whoever would listen.

The judge was slamming his gavel on his podium, screaming for order. As Junso and Ky continued to spit profanities at each other while being escorted out, Mr. Lee couldn't stop smiling.

He turned to the members who were visibly shaking and crying. His smile faded seeing them like this, but he knew no harm would come to them. "I know this must be scary and traumatizing for you, but just know...Junso just basically admitted everything. It's safe to say that neither he nor Ky will ever get their hands on you ever again. Also know that my department is still making so many arrests of everyone involved in this case." Mr. Lee rubbed Jin's back as he tried to comfort him since he was sitting right there. "You all survived this far. The hardest part is over."

"W-what happens now?" Jimin asked with shaky breaths as he wiped his tears with the collar of his shirt. His eyes were bloodshot, and the dark bags that had formed underneath them was a testament to how emotionally exhausting today had been. Not just for Jimin, but for all of them.

"Break," Judge Kim exclaimed from his podium. "We will resume in an hour."

Mr. Lee answered Jimin. "Now you guys can sit here and relax for a little while. Please don't let anything those two say or do in this room scare you, alright? Hell they're chained up. And by the looks of it, at this point it would appear those two are out to get each other now, not any of you."

"Why did Junso do that?" Jungkook asked.

"Because he knows he's fucked," Yoongi replied. Yoongi had calmed down now that the two had been dragged out of the room by guards. Knowing he was surrounded by protection, unlike when he was beaten half to death in the woods, helped relieve his initial fear that had started to bubble up. So far those two hadn't gotten their hands on any of them recently and he held on to the hope that they never would again.

Mr. Lee said he was going to step out of the courtroom, and that the others could either stay and wait in their seats or go down the hall and grab some food from a small cafe that was in the building. The members decided to stay put considering none of them were feeling all that hungry.

"If they are convicted, what kind of punishment do you think they will get?" Jimin asked the rest of the group.

"I know," Jin replied as he raised his finger in the air, "a million years in Hell, locked in a box where the devil himself tortures them. Then after a million years they are released from the box to spend the rest of eternity having the devil do the same thing they did to all of us, to them. Over and over and over again."

Jimin's eyes went wide. "I meant jail time. Or do you think they might get the death penalty? At least Ky...You think?"

"That's weird to think about," Taehyung replied. The somberness of his voice made it clear that he didn't quite know how to feel about any of the punishments the two might receive. He always found death to be such a strange and bizarre thing, and it would be strange to him to see someone who was so...in his personal space...killed. He wasn't completely against it, however.

"With any luck," Namjoon started, his hands clenched into fists, "they'll both be sent to Island X."

Island X was notorious for housing the world's biggest, scariest, most murderous criminals. The island only had a maximum security prison, which was originally built way out there to keep those criminals from having any chance of escape. This place housed the worst of the worst. The security guards were even on one day rotations, and they had hundreds of them, because it was even tough for the guards themselves to be on that island. These were the criminals that were meant and destined to suffer for multiple life sentences, as it was presumed that even that death penalty for them would have been too forgiving.

"Island X?" Yoongi sat back in his chair and anxiously scratched the back of his neck. "I had forgotten all about that. It's less scary to pretend that place doesn't even exist. That place is just Hell itself where the demons come out to play."

"Well, then, it would be perfect," Hobi replied.

They continued to chat about the events of the day so far. Jin informed them why they hadn't gotten the lawyer, but Namjoon said the same thing Mr. Lee had, that their testimony alone seemed good enough to not even need one.

"The judge seems to be on our side," Jungkook informed, "I mean did you hear the way he denied letting Ky and Junso go up and speak together?" The maknae couldn't help but laugh a bit at that. He found it comical finally seeing those two monsters not get what they wanted.

An hour flew by and court was back in session. Ky and Junso were escorted back in, and this time Junso even had some kind of cage put over his mouth to prevent him from talking at all.

"Holy shit," Hobi whispered. He watched as the two had been taken to separate areas of the room to sit.

Since Junso was no longer allowed to speak at today's court hearing, it was now Ky's turn to begin speaking.

He spent his time arguing back against everything that Junso had said. He claimed Junso was a liar, and that everything he spewed out of his mouth earlier was fabrication due to them being in the midst of some kind of family dispute.

Taehyung was reading the judge's body language. He didn't want to get his hopes up, but Taehyung sensed that Judge Kim knew everything coming out of Ky's mouth was a load of bullshit.

"Now, as for the members," Ky began.

This got all of the boys stiffening in their seats. Having any kind of attention on them from Ky was terrifying, even if he was shackled up halfway across the room. Jimin put his hand on his chest and took a deep breath as he tried to calm his nerves.  They all held their breath as they waited to hear what kind of bullshit would spew out of that man's mouth.

"It was never my intention to hurt any of you. But Junso-"

Everyone in the room, even Judge Kim, rolled their eyes. The room broke out into quiet whispers and sighs of frustration.

"Bullshit!" Namjoon jumped to his feet. He knew at this point Ky couldn't ever touch him or his members again, and he was no longer willing to sit back and let Ky say or do whatever the hell he wanted. With tears streaming down his cheeks, it was clear how incredibly angry that statement had made the leader of the group. His entire body was trembling. "That's absolute bullshit! Never intended to hurt us?! You absolutely had every intention of hurting every single one of us! Not only to hurt us, but to kill us! You're just upset that we finally got you caught! Don't you sit there and try to say it was "never your intention" and don't you dare sit there and blame Junso for your actions! Yes, Junso did shit of his own that he will pay for, but you knew damn well what you were doing! You had every intention of beating the shit out of me and Jungkook after that grocery trip! You had every intention of breaking down Taehyung until he was broken. You killed Jimin's fish! Killed him! Someone should kill you!"

"Hyung," Taehyung whispered as he tugged at the back of Namjoon's shirt. He didn't want Namjoon to get in trouble for saying such words in court.

"No, I'm not done Taehyung. That bastard has no right claiming he never 'intended' to hurt us!"

Namjoon turned back to Ky. "You knew exactly what you were doing when you made Jin crash the car. Or when you were trying to kill Yoongi in the woods. Or when you were trying to drown Hobi in the pool!" Namjoon's eyes were wet and bloodshot. The veins in his arms and neck stuck out as they filled with the rage inside of him. "You had every damn intention."

Namjoon was speechless after that. He felt his heart slamming against his chest and had to take deep breaths as Taehyung pulled him back down to sit.

"He's a goddamn liar," Namjoon whispered to Taehyung.

"I know, hyungie. I know. We all know."

Ky continued to spew out bullshit about how he was threatened by Junso, in which his story didn't line up with Junso's at all. The two were clearly lying about everything and only blaming each other.

It was evident that the judge was barely listening to Ky's argument, as he sat there yawning during Ky's entire testimony. Jin glanced down at the floor to hide his smirk. He looked over at Mr. Lee who had returned when court got back in session, and the man shot him with a proud, beaming smile. The man wasn't afraid to hide his happiness for the boys.

Justice would be served.

Once Ky was done speaking, the session was finally over for the day. The members let out sighs of relief as they knew now they could go home and enjoy the comforts of their own space. One thing on the back of Hobi's mind was still the idea of moving, but he didn't want to burden anyone with that right now. There was already so much going on and he didn't want to add to the stress. He hoped that in time he would get another opportunity to bring it up.

Ky and Junso were both escorted out of the room first. They were led to some vans outside that would bring them back to the prison they were currently staying at.

"Now what?" Jimin asked Mr. Lee.

"Now, kiddo, you go home and get some much needed rest."

"Rest sounds nice." Jungkook stretched his arms into the air, feeling the heaviness of the day finally leave his body. "It's been too long since any of us have gotten any real rest."

Yoongi asked Mr. Lee what he thinks the outcome of the day will be. "And also, how many more trials do you think we will have to attend before they call the final sentence for those two?"

Mr. Lee reached out and lightly grabbed Yoongi's shoulder. He didn't say anything, but only winked at him before turning and walking away.

"Wait, what does that mean?!" Yoongi called after him. He turned to his members. "He winked. Why did he wink? He said there would be multiple trials, didn't he? Why did he wink?" The rapper was lost in confusion.

"Mr. Lee!" Yoongi called after him.

"Go home and get some rest, boys!" Mr. Lee shouted back, laughter in his voice. "I will get back to you soon about what is going to happen next!"

With that, Mr. Lee was out of sight as he had exited the building. The members were left there to contemplate on their own what might happen next.
