Surviving Number 8. Part 23.

Officer Lee wasn't an idiot.

He kept his policeman staked outside the boys house the next day until he knew that Junso and Ky had been transferred to prison with no issues. He also never told the boys what time the two were being transferred. So he made sure they were securely moved so early in the morning, it would be taken care of before any of the members would even be awake.

It was a smooth process. Ky and Junso were now behind the most secure bars in the country while they awaited their fate.

At the same time, the members had woken up anxious and worried about the transfer, so when Lee called and informed them that it was handled already, they were ecstatic.

"So we're safe now? Like actually safe? Forever?" Jin asked the others as they got breakfast ready. They all could see that they no longer had the police officers sitting outside their home, and it made all of them feel an unspoken sense of unease as they wondered if they truly were safe. As much as they wished they could have police officers around 24/7, possibly for the rest of their lives no matter what, they knew it was an unrealistic fantasy.

Yoongi was picking at the skin around his fingernails as he sat at the kitchen counter. "Wouldn't that depend on the verdict of this? I don't mean to be that guy, but what if all of this was for nothing? What if there's not enough evidence and the judge sets them free?"

"That's unlikely. I think by now there is plenty of evidence against those two. And everyone who was involved who was secretly working for them." Namjoon grabbed a cup of coffee and sat down next to Yoongi, placing a gentle hand on his back. "There's no way they'll just be walking out of there as if nothing happened. They're practically murderers."

"They are murderers," Jimin whispered to himself under his breath.

Hobi fully understood Yoongi's concern as his mind formed another, unbearable question. "What if the judge works for them too? What if this whole thing is staged to make it look like the two have been caught, and none of it's real?" He realized he was having a hard time separating what was real and what wasn't. After being faked out by multiple police officers and doctors, he knew he'd always be skeptical. The only person in authority he even slightly trusted was Officer Lee and his men, because they were the only ones to truly keep the members safe so far.

Taehyung was getting a little bit annoyed listening to everyone's worries. He wanted this to be over just as much as they did, and he knew it would never end if they all kept assuming the worst. He knew they had good reason to do so, but he also knew at some point they had to believe there was real hope for them. He wasn't used to being the voice of reason as he usually left that to Jin or Namjoon, but seeing everyone still struggle so much was making his heart ache.

"No matter what happens, I am fully confident that Officer Lee will always have our backs. I also don't think Ky and Junso will just be freed as though nothing happened. They'll get a few years, I am sure. Hopefully many, but if not, at least a few." Taehyung could only hope and pray that they got a lot more than just a few years behind bars for all the damage they'd caused.

"I hope he gets the death penalty and rots in Hell," Hobi murmured.

"I don't want that. I want him to have life in prison. Death penalty is the coward's way to freedom." Namjoon inhaled the scent of his hot coffee, and the warmth of the steam going up his nostrils was quite relaxing. It helped ease his anxiety about what was to come, and as he thought about it, he remembered that they had to start getting ready for their first therapy session later that afternoon. He could only hope it helped. Some way, somehow.

The members became more aware of just how bad their anxiety was while the day progressed. They would flinch at any slight noise, they'd find themselves peeking around corners before entering a different room, they wouldn't want to be alone. It was important to them to stick together every single moment.

Jin had heated up a cup of noodles in the microwave and when the beeping went off it sent him and Jungkook almost flying across the kitchen because they panicked so badly. They also avoided the door to Ky's room the best they could. Simply looking at it sent a wave of nausea coursing through them.

The time finally came for them to get going to therapy, and the nerves were higher than expected. As Taehyung drove their rental to the little brick building that they'd never been to before, a lot more worst-case scenarios were reeling through their minds.

What if this is a trap?

A set up?

What if Ky and Junso are standing behind the front doors, waiting to kill us?

What if we're walking blindly to our deaths?

Taehyung parked the car, and as soon as he turned the ignition off he could have sworn he could hear all of his members' hearts thudding rapidly in their chests. Including his own. He didn't even realize how badly his hands had been sweating until he looked at the steering wheel and could see the moisture all over it. Reality was sinking in that they were damaged, and hopefully not beyond repair.

Nobody wanted to be the first one out of the car. They sat inside it and stared at the little brick building nestled across the parking lot. It was a small office, and the bricks were gray and white. A few windows decorated the front, and they could see a big blue door with a sign that read 'Dr. Wue's Office - Psychiatry.'

Taehyung let out a deep sigh and turned to his members, not realizing until now that Jungkook had been silently crying. He saw the maknae's rosy cheeks only turn redder as he took his sweater sleeves and wiped at the little streaks of wetness streaming down his face. The youngest had been staring out the window of the back seat, trying to hide his nerves, but not doing as good of a job as he had hoped.

"Kook..." Taehyung reached back and placed his hand on the maknae's knee. This caught everyone's attention as they looked over to see the youngest was crying.

Now that the attention was on him, Jungkook couldn't help but completely break down as he hid his face into his hands. Heart shattering sobs made their way past his lips.

"Hey," Jin wrapped his arm around Jungkook's shoulders and pulled him into a tight side hug as everyone else gathered around the boy the best they could. The eldest took a deep breath before continuing, "We'll be alright in there." Hopefully. Jin wasn't too sure himself, but he wanted to be reassuring regardless.

"I-I-I don't want to die in there, hyungs." Jungkook struggled to take a few deep breaths as the terror ate him alive from the inside out. The entire ride there he had convinced himself that this was another one of Ky's sick games, and they were all walking right to their death as Ky's final big "Fuck you."

With a deep breath, the eldest was the first to open his car door. "We aren't going to die in there, Kook-ah. This will be a good thing for us, yeah? We have to at least try." He could feel his entire body tremble as his feet hit the pavement. Offering a gentle hand, he helped Jungkook out of the car as the others followed. Jin figured if anyone was going to walk into their death first, it should be him. He didn't know if that stemmed from him being the oldest out of all of them, or from the constant regret he was still suppressing.

As they all trudged their way to the front door, everyone was gripping onto each other as if their lives fully depended on it. They took their time, and once they reached the entrance, Jin decided he'd be the one to open it. The members took one last look behind them, breathing in the scent of some of the nearby restaurants and watching traffic pass by on the busy streets. Their possible last look at the outside world.

"Ready?" Jin asked. Everyone gave a nervous nod before they made their way inside. They were greeted with a bright room with cushioned waiting chairs, to their left was a little kitchen with a sink, coffee pot, and microwave. To their right was a door with another giant sign that read Dr. Wue's name and his position. Each corner of the little waiting room had a giant flower pot in it with wonderful smelling pink flowers.

Despite their concerns, the place seemed rather bright and quite inviting. The boys stood close to one another unsure of what to do, until a tall man with a nice clean shave and snazzy dark blue suit stepped out from behind the door with Dr. Wue's name on it.

"Hello!" The man greeted them with a white toothed smile. "You must be Bangtan?"

The members found it comforting that they were being greeted as one because to them, that's who they were and who they always hoped to be.

Bangtan.

They all bowed and said hello, informing the man that they were the members.

Dr. Wue had already heard about the entire ordeal, and was well aware of everything going on. It wasn't a secret, considering it was plastered over every single news outlet ever. The members had continued to lay low and out of the public eye the best they could, because they knew how much attention and danger it could potentially bring them if they were to do anything in public at the moment. Only time would tell how they were going to move forward when it came to becoming a band again. That was the ultimate plan, no matter what it took.

Dr. Wue gestured to the coffee pot and asked if any of them would like a drink, to which they all politely declined.

"Very well then, why don't you all follow me into my office?" Dr. Wue led the way back into the room, knowing that they already planned to do group therapy instead of individual. The room was painted a nice light blue with giant windows looking out over a grassy field. It was calming. There were multiple light gray cushioned couches and chairs, in which Dr. Wue told them to all make themselves comfortable and to sit wherever they'd like.

Despite the various places to sit, all seven of the members found themselves squishing themselves together on one of the larger couches. Dr. Wue didn't acknowledge it. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary for him to witness.

He sat in a giant brown leather chair across from the members, watching their body language closely. He could see the apprehension on their faces, as they were all cautiously examining what felt like every single corner of the room.

"You're safe here," Dr. Wue informed. "I can promise you that."

"How can we be so sure?" Namjoon gulped. He wasn't even aware that the doctor had been so observant of the fact they were all scanning the room for any possible threat.

"Officer Lee is a good friend of mine. I know he's the main officer that got involved in this case. He's a great man, and I can only hope that you will learn to trust me as much as you've learned to trust him."

Nobody wanted to let their guard down, but hearing that this man was friends with Officer Lee brought great comfort to the guys. They already knew they could trust Officer Lee with their lives, so even if they were unsure about this doctor, they knew they could ask Lee later on about him.

They all nestled back into the couch cushions as they let their nerves subside. The doctor didn't pressure anyone to speak up right away and told them they may begin to speak on things when they felt most comfortable, even if it meant multiple therapy sessions until they got to that point. He did ask questions just to get to know them at first. Asking them to each introduce themselves, their favorite things, what they enjoyed doing in their free time. Dr. Wue knew they'd be more willing to discuss their feelings after more of a bond was built.

He was a professional, and was excellent at his job. He cared a hell of a lot about all of his patients, and from the moment he was informed of the situation with this group he knew right away he would do everything in his power to help them.

The boys were in fact very safe here.

Unfortunately for the members, as inviting and friendly as Dr. Wue was, the first session wouldn't be enough for them to open up. Yoongi was the first to admit his anxiety and mentioned that everyone was constantly walking around with heightened nerves, but nobody was willing to go into detail quite yet. Not until they knew for sure they could speak up without some kind of consequence.

The session was over before they knew it. While they didn't express much of their feelings, the members did in fact feel a bit better leaving. It meant they weren't murdered inside. The biggest concern of the day was over for the most part.

Piling back into the car, there was a moment of silence before Hobi asked everyone how they were feeling about the session.

"Can I be honest?" Jimin asked, but continued to speak before waiting for anyone to answer him. "As nervous as we are, I think next time we really need to just let it all out. I can tell he wants to help us but he can't do that if we're not willing to give him the chance to. I wanted to speak up about so many things, but I know we were all nervous. But next time, I'll probably be an open book. He's friends with Officer Lee. I trust him."

Namjoon said Jimin brought up a good point, and with that he decided to call Officer Lee to ask him about his psychiatrist friend.

"Dr. Wue? Of course, we're great pals and go way back. He's a great guy, and an even better doctor. I'd say you can fully trust him to help you. Also, speaking of helping you, I am still working on getting my brother set up as your lawyer."

"How is that going?" Namjoon asked as he held the phone up in the car while it was on speaker so everyone could hear.

"It's a lot of back and forth and paperwork, but I think you guys will be all set." The members couldn't tell that Officer Lee was smiling on the other end of the phone as he asked them if they liked how he "pulled that off."

"Pulled what off?" Jungkook asked, confused.

"Not telling you what time those two bastards were being transferred, so it was over before you were even aware it was happening!" The officer didn't like to boast too much, but he was proud of himself for keeping them safe.

"Yes, thanks for that," Jungkook replied.

"Speaking of those two I have an update. The court is trying to make their trials as soon as possible. For Ky and Junso, they're hoping to have them sentenced no later than the end of the week. As for all of their accomplices, I am not sure."

Taehyung picked up on the hint of hesitation in the officer's voice. It was the same tone he had used when he mentioned having to take his policemen back.

"Mr. Lee?" Taehyung asked. "Is there something else?"

"Well, with court and trials and everything... I wasn't aware they'd be so soon. Which in the grand scheme of things is great, but to be completely honest I am a little bit worried."

"Worried about what?" Jimin grabbed the phone out of Namjoon's hand and brought it closer to himself.

"Well, I'm worried about you guys. I was hoping you'd have more time to heal and for things to calm down before the trials started."

"Why does that matter?" Jin asked, nerves bubbling to the surface of his skin.

"You guys didn't forget did you? You have to show up for the court dates. You have to testify against them."

There was a sickening silence as the members looked at each other. Jungkook seemed to be the only one not quite understanding why this was such a bad thing.

"What's the problem, hyungies?" Jungkook asked with wide, concerned eyes.

Yoongi squeezed Jungkook's shoulder. "Koo...that means...that means we have to be in the room with them...

We have to see them again."
