Surviving Number 8. Part 22.
Yoongi pondered it for a moment as he took a glance around the house. "Move?" He looked back at Hobi. "Are you sure that is what you want to do?" Looking at the others, he asked their opinions as well. "I personally wouldn't quite mind finding a new house either. This one doesn't exactly hold the best memories." With a deep sigh, he dropped his gaze to the floor. "At least...not anymore."
Taehyung walked over and rubbed Yoongi's upper back. He couldn't help but agree. "I think it would be good for us."
"It is definitely something to think about, but doing it immediately might not be the best time. With the stress of everything going on and us healing, I will be honest and say for the time being I just want to rest and not worry about moving along with everything else." Namjoon was trying to be a voice of reason. He knew all of them were on board with the idea, and he could really tell Hobi wanted out of that house as soon as possible, but he also knew it could make everyone's stress and mental health worse.
Aside from everything with Ky and Junso and the abuse, the members were also currently trying to maneuver their way around another problem they were facing.
The vultures of KMedia.
The last post online from any of them was the one that Jimin had posted. Their SOS. With news spreading like wildfire about his post, so did the lies of half of the journalists in the country. None of the boys had spoken on the matter because it was the last thing they wanted to do, but they were well aware of all of the fake articles coming out.
Articles about Jimin being an attention seeker and lying.
Articles about the entire band lying.
Articles that had nothing to do with anything, really.
Articles lying saying maybe it was the band trying to announce a break up.
"The truth will reveal itself in time," Yoongi mentioned. "It always does. The media can take their articles and shove them up their asses because us and our true fans will always know the truth."
"To be honest I don't think it's just us that needs psychiatric help," Jungkook said. "I think all these journalists should also look into some form of therapy as well."
The members couldn't help but laugh at Jungkook's words, knowing he had a point.
The members tried not to worry about it too much because they knew Ky and Junso had already been arrested and once they went to court the media would eat their words.
And if they didn't back off, then the members knew that ARMY would do something about it. As for now, they really needed to focus on themselves. They were really trying to avoid the internet as much as possible.
Jin shrugged. "At least we have each other. And on that note, I need a nap." Jin got up and started making his way to his room, in which Yoongi decided to follow and join him. All of them were feeling exhausted and a decent amount of sleep sounded like absolute heaven right now.
Hobi decided to stay in the living room with Jungkook as everyone else made their way to their beds. The two were curled up on the couch together fast asleep when Hobi started having a nightmare that he was drowning.
He couldn't breathe. Oxygen didn't exist anymore, only water.
Jungkook woke up to the sounds of his hyung whimpering and thrashing around in his sleep. He had tears spilling out of his closed eyes.
"Hey, hyungie." Jungkook grabbed onto his hyung and tried gently shaking him. "It's okay, wake up!"
"S-stop!" Hobi screamed in his sleep. "Let go of me!" He was starting to hyperventilate, gasping for air as his hand came up and grasped at his throat and chest as if he were searching for a way to open them just so he could breathe.
Jungkook shook him more forcefully as he began to cry. "Hyung! You have to wake up! Please! It's okay, I'm right here! He can't hurt you! He's gone, hyungie!" Jungkook was panicking seeing Hobi in such a state.
"Hyung!" the maknae screamed again.
Jungkook's screaming was so loud that it had woken up all of the members, as all of them came sprinting out of their rooms into the living room. Taehyung was the first to get to them. "What's wrong?! What's wrong?!"
"It's Hobi hyung!" Jungkook screamed. "He's having a nightmare and he won't wake up! He can't breathe!"
All of the members took over in helping Jungkook get Hobi awake, but the poor boy was trapped inside his head. He was screaming and crying while still struggling to take breaths.
Namjoon was lightly patting Hobi's cheeks trying to get his attention but nothing was working. All of them were screaming for their brother to wake up, and after what felt like an eternity, he finally shot up on the couch with his eyes open. He grasped his chest and took fast, deep breaths.
Jimin tried to wrap his arms around his hyung to hug him but his hyung still wasn't completely coherent, and wasn't aware that he had escaped his nightmare. He put his hand up in defense. "No! No, don't touch me! Please! Please don't touch me!"
Jimin dropped on his knees in front of Hobi and placed his hands gently on his cheeks. "Hey, it's alright. It's me. It's Jimin. It's just Jimin. Okay? Relax, hyung. It's me."
"J-Jimin?" Hobi whispered. He finally got back to a sense of reality. His eyes were shifting all around the room trying to make sense of the fact he was sitting on a couch and not outside drowning in the pool. He completely broke down when he realized he was surrounded by his brothers and it was Jimin holding his face.
Jimin wiped his hyungs tears with his thumb. "Yeah, it's me. You just had a bad dream is all. You're okay."
All of the members surrounded Hobi and squeezed him into a tight group hug as he cried. "Shh, you're alright," Yoongi cooed as he rubbed his dongsaengs back. He could feel Hobi's heartbeat through his back because of how intensely it was going. "You're alright," he repeated in hopes of making his little brother calmer.
"Sorry to wake everyone up." Hobi felt remorse knowing his nightmare had caused such a stir because he knew how exhausted everyone was.
"Never apologize for something like this," Jin informed. He ran his fingers through the boy's hair. "If you want to try to continue sleeping you can curl up with Yoongi and I."
"N-no thank you. I think I am going to stay awake for a while."
After making sure that Hobi really was alright and had calmed down from his nightmare, everyone departed again to get some more sleep. Jungkook went into his room with Taehyung after his hyung asked if he could be left alone on the couch to watch some TV.
As his current luck would have it, all he was met with on the TV were a ton of commercials about pools no matter how many channels he flipped through. "Aish," he threw his head back in agony, "You've got to be kidding me."
He decided he wouldn't be able to focus on any shows anyway so he turned the TV off and made his way to the kitchen. Passing Ky's room he saw that the bedroom door was ajar, so he grabbed the handle and yanked it shut. That room could burn to the ground for all he cared. The entire house could.
He stared out of the glass door that overlooked the pool outside. He could see himself drowning again and it broke his heart that of all the memories he had of that pool, the one with Ky was the only one that he could focus on. None of the good ones felt worth anything anymore because they would always be overshadowed by what happened on that terrible night.
He rolled his eyes and went to his room to find Jimin and Namjoon curled up together in Namjoon's bed. He curled up on his own bed and decided to try and get more rest, as the exhaustion was hitting him once again.
The members slept for over 28 hours straight without realizing it.
When Jungkook checked the date on his phone he thought his hyungs were playing a trick on him, but when all their phones showed the date they couldn't believe how long they had slept.
"Safe to say we were tired." Taehyung was already busy in the kitchen helping to cook lunch. Thankfully of all the trauma they had faced, Taehyung had gotten over his eating disorder. He knew he wanted to be strong and healthy for his brothers and he also knew more than well enough by now that Ky's opinion did not matter at all.
The rest of the members were sitting around the table chatting when Hobi brought up therapy. "I'd like to start right away, if we can."
"Of course, hyung." Namjoon pulled up the calendar on his phone as he sipped some water. "I already have all of the information for that. I just have to call and make our first appointment. When should we go?"
"How about tomorrow?" Jin asked.
"I will try to set that up." Namjoon walked outside to make a quick phone call and set up the group therapy appointment. Luckily he was able to get the first session for tomorrow afternoon.
"It's all set. Tomorrow at 3 PM." Namjoon sat back at the table as the members thanked him for taking charge of it.
Everyone couldn't help but notice that Jungkook was extremely focused on his phone and even smiling at it.
"What are you doing?" Taehyung asked with curiosity. He leaned over to look at the maknae's phone to see he was on some car dealership website. "Oh, looking for a car?"
"Even better!" Jungkook cheered. "I'm building a custom one I want!"
"You're building a custom car? Wouldn't you rather go to a dealership and look around? You know, try them out?" Jimin asked.
"No," Jungkook replied without losing focus on custom building a car. "I know what I want already, I just have to build it."
The members all looked at Jin, wondering if he'd be okay with this considering he's the one who told Jungkook he could pick their new car.
Jin smiled at them all. "Our baby can do whatever he wants."
Jungkook didn't reply but the members saw the giant smile that instantly shot across Jungkook's face. They were all so glad things were back to normal for Jin and the maknae.
Once the maknae was done, the members were actually extremely impressed with how it turned out. It was an 8 seater SUV with tinted windows and custom rims, and the color was nice too. A deep burgundy color. They didn't understand some of the specifications Jungkook was ordering but they didn't really care either because they knew it was going to be their new car whether they liked it or not.
"It should be delivered to our house in two days!" Jungkook was ecstatic. It was his dream car. At least one good thing came out of this mess.
Once the food was ready the members absolutely devoured the meal. Ramen with rice, eggs, and various meats. "Taehyung is becoming quite the little chef." Jin complimented him not only because he really was capable of making delicious food, but because he knew throwing those little confidence boosters here and there would be good for Taehyung after dealing with so much insecurity. He'd do anything to see his little brother happy.
For the time being things remained calm in the household. Something the members thought they surely would never experience again. Through lunch they discussed more about what the future held for the band.
"Technically we had all quit, didn't we?" Jungkook was quite worried.
"I mean, I suppose, but our contracts are still intact somewhere in that building and Junso sure as hell won't be our manager anymore," Namjoon replied. The thought weighed heavily on him. "I guess right now we don't have a manager at all."
"So the band isn't really over?" Jungkook's eyes were wide with anticipation. He loved BTS too much to let it go.
Yoongi reached over and placed a gentle hand on Jungkook's back. "For a moment there it really looked like it was, if I'm being honest. But we actually got free from Ky and Junso, so I am sure there is still a future for us."
Jungkook smiled at the sound of that.
"However," Jimin added, "It might be a while. We need to focus on therapy and rebuilding everything we've lost first." His eyes suddenly filled with water but he didn't say anything.
Taehyung gripped Jimin's shoulder lightly. "Of course, Jimin-ah. Of course."
When tears spilled from Jimin's eyes the members could tell there was something more that he wanted to say but wasn't.
"What's wrong?" Jin asked.
Jimin shrugged. "N-nothing, it's just that...Flyn won't be there to make new memories with us and ARMY." He buried his face into his hands as his shoulders bounced up and down through his cries. Taehyung pulled him into his chest, holding and rocking him. He was just as traumatized as Jimin was as he was right there next to him as they both watched Flyn be murdered in front of them, but Taehyung knew he would never feel the same sense of hurt that Jimin was feeling.
"Flyn would just want you to be happy and remember him through any new memories you make." Taehyung tried to offer condolences but he never felt very good at it.
"Do you want a new fish?" Jungkook asked innocently.
"Jungkook!" Hobi lightly scolded. "A new fish isn't going to replace Flyn!"
"Sorry hyungie. I was just asking."
"No thank you," Jimin replied quietly.
The moment was broken by the sound of Namjoon's phone starting to ring. He saw that officer Lee was calling and was glad to say hello and put it on speakerphone. Officer Lee had become so much more than just a police officer to them. At this point he was almost like family.
"Hey, officer Lee hyung!" Jin yelled into the phone. It actually felt nice this time to call someone hyung.
"Hey boys, how are you guys holding up? Alright, I hope?"
"The best we can be," Jimin replied.
"I am glad to hear that. Have you guys started therapy yet?"
"Tomorrow at 3!" Hobi replied.
"Great, great. That is great news. Speaking of news, I do have some news I need to give to you boys."
The members felt their hearts drop a little bit when they noticed the sudden shift in officer Lee's tone.
"Is everything okay?" Yoongi was taking deep breaths in an effort to calm his rising anxiety.
"Yes, everything is fine. However I did want to inform you all that Ky and Junso are being transferred to prison earlier than expected. Tomorrow, actually. Both of them have been recovering faster than initially anticipated so the hospital they're in said they were both cleared to be transferred."
"So they will finally be locked up?! Behind bars?!" Namjoon asked.
"Yes, yes they will be. Also be aware that this means you guys will have to start getting ready for trials and court dates and all that. My brother is a lawyer if you want him."
"We will figure it out. And yes, we would love that. Why do you sound so sad though?" Jin couldn't ignore it anymore.
"Well, I had mentioned before that once the two of them were transferred I would be taking my men back."
The members looked around at each other and then out their front window at the two police officers on patrol in their front yard.
"Oh, yes. Right," Jin replied. "Your men..."
"As much as I have loved helping you, and will continue to help you the best I can, it is time I regather my police force to continue working. I am sorry but as of tomorrow I will be calling the officers back in and they won't be sitting outside your house anymore."
