Surviving Number 8. Part 21.

A few police officers remained with the boys in the hospital even though Ky and Junso had been caught already. It was the only thing that gave them some peace of mind. Yoongi was due to be discharged in just a few days, and while the members were ecstatic to hear that, they were terrified at the same time.

They were used to danger and destruction at home.

Gratefully, Mr. Lee was going to allow two of his officers to hang out outside their house while the boys were home until Ky and Junso were transferred out of the secured hospital they were in and into actual prison.

They were due to be transferred in about two weeks.

Jimin was sitting in the corner of the hospital room biting his nails. "What if they somehow escape?" He wiped the tears that had started to trickle down his cheeks. "Or...what if there are people after us now? I mean they seemed to be involved with a lot of people, there could be people after us. How will we ever really be safe?"

Jimin's concern was one the members had all been silently thinking to themselves. Is it actually over?

"Well," one of the officers in the room spoke up, "we have made countless arrests and already stopped a lot of their operations. Nobody would dare step out now to do more damage knowing the police are everywhere and they're on radar. I'd say you guys have already made it past the hardest part, dealing with Ky and Junso."

Jungkook's eyebrow twitched. "I don't know about that." He tried to hide the fact that his gaze had slightly turned to Jin and then back to the officer. "I think there's a lot of damage to still be dealt with."

Hobi raised his finger in the air. "On the other hand, we have to think positively." He had noticed Jungkook's gaze towards Jin, but didn't bring it to attention because he could tell by Jungkook's body language that the maknae hadn't wanted anyone to notice it. "At least there won't be more damage while we move forward from this."

Jin shrugged as he stared down at his shoes. His heart was still feeling pretty low in his chest. Despite his apologies and knowing nobody was really even mad at him anymore except maybe Jungkook, he still felt like he deserved prison too. A splitting headache started as he began to cry, so he got up and excused himself from the room.

Jungkook decided to follow him out and caught up with him in the hallway. "Where are you going? You shouldn't go places alone."

Jin wiped his cheeks as he picked up the pace. He began to panic when he felt like he couldn't breathe and needed fresh air immediately. Jungkook was practically running after him as the eldest made his way outside into a little park that was right next to the hospital that had a playground and some benches in it.

By the time Jin sat down he was already hyperventilating and bawling his eyes out. Jungkook wrapped his arms around him and pulled him tightly against him. "It's in the past, hyung."

The eldest looked at his youngest with bloodshot eyes. "No, it's not. It will never be in the past. None of this will. We may be done with the beatings and the-" Jin had to stop to catch his breath. Just thinking of all they've endured made it hard for him to speak. "-Everything else. And what I did. That will haunt me for the rest of my life. It will never be in the past."

Jungkook looked out towards the park and pondered for a moment. The anger he initially felt towards his hyung had subsided already, and he was already on the path to forgiveness. "For what it's worth, hyung, it's not something any of us will hold against you. It was shitty but I also realize now that you were just a bit fucked in the head."

Jin normally would have scolded Jungkook for saying such words, but right now he thought it was a bit comical because the maknae wasn't wrong. Both of their mouths curled up into a smile.

"After all we've been through, I think we're all a bit fucked in the head." Jin sat up and gently caressed Jungkook's cheek with the back of his hand. On the bright side the swelling and bruising had cleared up and Jungkook looked like himself again.

Jungkook placed his hand on top of Jin's and held it there against his cheek. "I must say, you have quite a swing." He didn't realize before that Jin was even capable of hitting so hard.

"Aish." Jin giggled. "Does this mean you'll be a better listener now?" he teased.

"Not a chance!" Jungkook stood up and pulled his hyung up with him. "Anyway, we should get back inside. I think the others might be worried about you."

"I'd like to get some fresh air for a few more minutes. It's a bit suffocating in there."

Jin was confused to see Jungkook sit back down instead of heading back in with the others. "You don't have to wait for me if you want to go in."

"Like I said before, I don't think anyone should be alone. At least not yet."

Jin felt his heart already starting to heal when he realized Jungkook was being protective. "You really forgive me?"

The maknae scoffed and rolled his eyes. "We all make mistakes. You're my best friend. More than that, you're my brother. I can't imagine not forgiving you if I'm being honest. We've been through too much together and I love you too much to stay angry at you forever. Please just never do it again, that's all I ask. I understand I was being annoying but-"

"-No, no." Jin interrupted Jungkook. "You weren't being annoying. You just wanted to spend time with me and I should have been there for you. I'm sorry. I swear on my life I'll never do something like that again. Not to you and not to any of the others. If I even tried it, you have permission to throw me to the wolves!"

"I'll keep that in mind."

With that, the two silently sat there and took in the fresh air. Both of them felt like a huge weight had been lifted off their shoulders, which also felt like a big step forward. Knowing there were a lot of things that were going to need to be healed moving forward, this felt like a good start for both of them.

Jin had his maknae back, and Jungkook had his Jin hyung back.

The two of them instinctively grabbed each other when they heard footsteps coming up from behind them. They quickly turned as their breath got caught in their throat.

"Relax guys, it's just me." Namjoon put his hands up in surrender. "I wanted to come check on you two." He didn't fail to notice that the two were sitting there holding each other. He knew this was a good sign. "Are you two alright?"

The maknae and oldest both smiled. "Yeah, we're alright," Jin informed.

"I'm glad to hear that." Namjoon knew what everyone meant to each other, and after what happened with him and Jimin he fully understood how important it was for everyone to work things out amongst the group before any of them were going to be able to move forward with all that was to come. Thankfully by the looks of it, all of the members were back on good terms with one another.

Namjoon grabbed a seat next to the two and became a bit fidgety. Jin noticed him pulling at the hem of his shirt and scraping the bottom of his shoes against the dirt. "What's wrong?" the eldest asked.

Namjoon bit his bottom lip for a second before answering. "Well we were just talking inside and the discussion about therapy came up. For all of us. We haven't decided about wanting to do a group thing or individual thing. Or maybe we can try out both, but we wanted to know your stance on the matter? Do you guys think we will need therapy?"

Jin and Jungkook replied in unison. "Yes."

"Of course we will," Jin started, "after all this shit? Hell, I'm going to need all the therapy I can get!"

"I agree, hyungs." Jungkook's expression instantly dropped, expressing his heartache. "We've been through too much not to and I want to make sure we're all okay. I need all of my hyungs to be okay."

Namjoon patted Jungkook on the back. "Alright then, I'm glad you guys agree. I am sure it will be good for all of us." His words were cut short by the rain that started to trickle down from the sky. "We should get back inside."

Jungkook looked to Jin, and the eldest nodded in agreement as he stood up. He was feeling much better, even his splitting headache had cleared up a lot. This was the best his head had felt since that car accident and he realized maybe it wasn't the physical healing he had been needing.

It was the emotional healing.

The three of them made it back in just in time to beat the torrential downpours that fell from the sky. Thunder started booming loudly as soon as they made it back in the room with the others, and thankfully they had gotten there in time because the sound of the rain and thunder was causing all of them to panic.

The noises were too loud. It sounded like all the times Ky would hurt someone. Jin was having flashbacks to the car crashing. Yoongi was having flashbacks to being beaten half to death in the middle of the night. The others were also reeling with fear. They went to Yoongi's bed and managed to get themselves to all fit on it and held each other tightly. Taehyung and Hobi were both crying and had their faces buried into Jimin's chest.

Nurses came in with some sedation pills for each of them to take, but they didn't want that.

They didn't trust anyone anymore.

Yoongi had been pumped full of sedatives for days without his consent, nobody felt good about accepting a pill from the nurse. They were scared and paranoid thinking that she too could be working for Ky and Junso and trying to kill them with these pills.

The members politely declined the medication, but the nurse left them there and said they were under no obligation to take them but she was leaving them in case they changed their minds.

"Are we being ridiculous?" Jungkook asked as he stared at the cup with the pills.

"No, we're being cautious," Jimin replied.

The members looked at each other with looks of discontent. This was the moment they realized they might be more damaged than they initially realized. The fact that they couldn't even trust a nurse who was trying to help them was quite frightening to them. However, they felt justified in their concern knowing some of the doctors in the hospital had already been caught doing things for Ky and Junso.

Right now the only ones they could trust were each other and Officer Lee, along with his police crew.

They decided against the pills and Jin threw them into the garbage. They dealt with the raging storm outside the best they could. Staying huddled together through their tears and their flinching every time the thunder roared.

Thankfully the storm didn't last excruciatingly long, only about half an hour. Once it was over the members finally felt a sense of relief and could all take a deep breath. They continued their discussion about getting therapy and decided that they'd love to try group sessions first and see how that worked for them, and if anyone wanted to start doing it individually then that would be their own choice.

--

The following days progressed without any incidents. And then it was time.

Time for Yoongi to be discharged, and the members to all be sent home.

Everyone was feeling a mix of emotions. They were happy to know that Yoongi was finally pretty well healed up and all that was left were some bruises and scarring from the stitches that had been removed. On the other hand, they were nervous about going home. Thankfully there would be cops outside their house for a few more days until Ky and Junso were transferred to prison.

Once Yoongi was officially discharged, the members were brought back home by the cops who would be staking out outside their house for a few days while everyone settled back in.

Yet, although leaving the hospital felt nice, going home didn't feel all that great. As they were standing outside their house all of them were hesitant to go back in.

"What if Ky is inside?" Namjoon asked.

"He shouldn't be. Considering he's currently in a secured hospital with a gunshot wound." Yoongi tried to be reassuring but he was having his own doubts.

Jimin pinched the bridge of his nose as he sighed. "I can't believe we're afraid to go inside our own fucking house because of that bastard."

They watched as Jungkook ran to the police officers and overheard him asking if they wouldn't mind checking around the place first to make sure nobody was hiding anywhere on the property. Luckily for them the officers were more than willing to help out. While the officers scoped out the entire property and inside the house, the members sat outside staring at the rental car.

"We have to buy a new car. We can't keep this one forever," Hobi informed. Luckily they had the money to buy a new one no problem, they just hadn't had the time to do it.

"It will be fun to pick out a new one! Our other one was getting old anyway," Taehyung replied. Then he turned to Jin and Jungkook. "You two could pick out the one you want us to have. You can pick what you think the safest car is." Taehyung was trying to be considerate, realizing their car had been destroyed with Jin and Jungkook inside it. He couldn't thank the universe enough that they'd both made it out alive.

"Jungkook can pick it," Jin answered. "I probably won't drive it anyway."

"What do you mean? Why wouldn't you want to drive it?" Jimin raised his eyebrow in curiosity.

This was something Jin had kept to himself ever since he woke up from that accident. "I, uhm, well...don't really want to drive anytime soon. What if I crash and hurt someone?"

"The accident wasn't your fault," Taehyung reminded.

Jin shrugged. "Doesn't matter. It happened with me behind the wheel."

"That still doesn't make it your fau-" Taehyung began, but Jin cut him off.

"-Tae, please. I don't really want to discuss it right now. Jungkookie can pick out our new car."

All of the members were sad to hear Jin say this, but they understood. They could only hope he'd regain his confidence someday and be willing to drive again.

"The coast is clear!"

The members jumped to their feet hearing this news and finally headed inside. They were hoping to feel comfortable again to have all seven of them back in the house and unharmed. Yet when they entered their home, the air suddenly felt thick. As if Ky's presence was still there to haunt them. It didn't help that all of his belongings were still in his room. The room that Jin had given up so that monster of a man could move in with them and have his own space.

They discussed getting rid of Ky's stuff, but Jimin refused to step foot in that room. "After what happened last time I went in his room, I won't touch any of his stuff ever again. Someone else can do it." His mind went back to his beloved fish, Flyn, that Ky had killed. Jimin's stomach started to churn as he thought about it. The memory put a heavy weight on his heart.

"We will take care of it later. Right now I'd like to sit and relax." Yoongi made his way to the couch and threw himself down onto it. The others followed suit and all took places around the living room. "Well, home sweet home I guess."

Hobi had caught a glimpse of the pool outside before he had made his way to sit down. Once everyone was gathered and quiet, he spoke up. "Can I be honest with you guys?"

"Always," Jin replied.

Hobi seemed hesitant to say it but he knew if he didn't admit how he was feeling right now, he might never speak up.

"I don't want to live here anymore. I think we should move."
