Surviving Number 8. Part 20.

"There's our Yoongi," Jin chuckled. The members collectively laughed. Hearing Yoongi still be the same old Yoongi was music to their ears.

"It's been a while, huh?" Namjoon mentioned as he started caressing the back of Yoongi's hand. He saw his hyung furrow his brows, a silent indicator that he was a bit confused on why nobody had come to see him yet.

"We tried to visit you, trust me," Namjoon started before his hyung could say anything, "but please believe there were circumstances beyond our control that made us unable to."

Yoongi was too exhausted to be angry. He trusted Namjoon. He believed that for whatever reasons they hadn't been allowed in yet, they must have been good ones. He also became much more aware of the heavy police presence now in his hospital room.

"Hmm?" Yoongi groaned as he looked around at the various policemen. He then closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Is it over?"

Mr. Lee walked over to him. "My team and I will make damn sure it is."

"I-I-what's going on?" The eldest rapper was getting exhausted. He wasn't used to so much interaction at once ever since he'd woken up in the hospital. The slightest movements and the smallest conversations were starting to take a lot out of him.

"Jimin-ah saved our lives," Hobi replied.

Yoongi's eyes glanced back and forth between Hobi and Jimin, and he saw Jimin's cheeks turning bright red as he avoided eye contact. Hobi continued to explain the situation and how Jimin had posted an SOS online. "And for once, real cops showed up. Real help. No more of this fake shit."

Tears started streaming out of Yoongi's eyes. He still didn't quite understand it, but he knew this had to be a good thing. My brothers are all here, and Hobi says we're getting real help? Maybe it truly is over now.

Mr. Lee spoke up. "The main obstacle we're facing at the moment is that Ky and Junso are both missing. I have a team out looking around the city on the hunt for them, but so far nobody knows where they are."

"Do you think they know they've been caught?" Taehyung asked apprehensively.

"I have no doubt that they're aware by now. If they didn't know, I'm sure one of them would have come here again to pay off more doctors or something. Speaking of which, I need to start conducting some interrogations with the doctors here so if you don't mind, I must be going. Would you like my team here to stick around?"

The members all frantically nodded their heads. They very much wanted the police to stay close to them. They hadn't felt this safe in what felt like a lifetime and it was such a relief feeling like they could finally take a breath and relax for a moment. Even knowing that Junso and Ky were out there somewhere. At least they had real protection now.

Yoongi had fallen asleep not too long after Mr. Lee had left. Things in the room were relatively calm, with the occasional sniffle from someone when they couldn't hold their tears back. They stayed around Yoongi's bed, wanting to make sure they were all the first people he would see when he woke up again. It was a bit awkward with cops in the room, but they stayed quiet and minded their business.

Jin and Jungkook were still avoiding each other the best they could. They wouldn't even look at one another. Jin wasn't sure what to make of the fact that Jungkook wouldn't let him get in trouble with the police for hitting him so hard to the point of bruising his face so badly. The eldest was sure it was the right thing to do. If it had been Ky who had hit Jungkook like that, they'd all want that man in jail. So why not me, especially if he's still so upset that he won't even look at me?

Jungkook was feeling just as confused. He was livid with Jin, but simply didn't know how to handle it. Neither of them had been in this situation before. He tried reassuring himself by convincing himself Jin only did it because he has a head injury, but he was still having trouble finding that to be a viable excuse. He could see how sorry Jin was but that didn't mean he couldn't still be angry about it.

"I have to pee." Hobi suddenly blurted it out as he stood up and made his way to the door. Jimin offered to go with him. The cops asked if they'd like an escort but they politely declined. They figured the last place Ky and Junso would show up is where the police were all congregated.

Jimin felt a touch of anxiety course through him when Namjoon decided to go with them. He knew Namjoon was still quite angry with him, and he didn't know what that was going to look like when they weren't around everyone else. His hyung already had the nerve to shove him while standing right in front of a cop, so he figured Namjoon wouldn't care to do more if they were away from any cops. He found himself clinging onto Hobi as the three of them made their way to the bathroom.

Nothing eventful happened, but Jimin could feel himself shaking as he worried what Namjoon might do to him. Then he felt guilty for thinking the worst of his hyung. It's just Namjoon...

They were on their way back from the bathroom, close to Yoongi's door, when Namjoon suddenly grabbed Jimin's shirt and pulled him backwards. "Jimin?"

Jimin turned to face his leader as his eyes went wide with fear.

"I want to talk to you now." Namjoon's voice had a hint of authority in it, as if Jimin didn't have a choice.

Jimin turned back to Hobi, who was standing there with his hand now on the handle to the hospital room door. "Everything okay?"

"I'd like to talk to Jimin alone for a moment," Namjoon told Hobi.

Hobi hesitated. He knew Namjoon was angry about what Jimin had done. "Are you sure you don't want to just talk in here?" He gestured to the room that was full of the other members and the police. Just like Jimin, Hobi realized he was also nervous about Namjoon's intentions and he felt sick thinking that for once in his life he didn't know if the leader could be trusted or not.

"I promise I'll only be a few minutes." Namjoon motioned for Hobi to go on into the room without them. Once Hobi was gone, he looked straight at Jimin as the younger stared down at his feet and fiddled with his fingers

Jimin took a nervous step backwards when he felt an arm wrap around the back of his neck. "Joonie hyung, please, I'm really sorr-" He stopped when he realized Namjoon had pulled him into a tight hug.

"Thank you." Namjoon started crying as he hugged Jimin tighter in his arms. "You saved us."

Jimin wasn't sure how to reply, but he wrapped his arms around Namjoon as he buried his head into his leader's chest and instantly felt his anxiety melt away. His own tears started drenching Namjoon's shirt.

Namjoon continued. "I know I told you not to post anything, and I was angry that you did. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry I pushed you, I shouldn't have done that. But I wanted to thank you. Thank you so much for what you did. We-we have real help now thanks to you. We can't ever repay you for that."

"Y-you don't have to repay me, h-hyung," Jimin sniffled. "I just want things to be b-b-better now."

Namjoon was rubbing Jimin's back as they hugged. "I think things will be alright now. Also, Jimin?"

"Yeah?"

"You don't have to be afraid of me. I wouldn't do anything to hurt you. I know pushing you was wrong but you have to know I wouldn't do something worse. I can see the way you look at me like you're scared..."

Jimin felt his shoulders drop. Hearing that was yet another relief. "I know. It's just that...after everything...and after what Jin did...I guess it's hard to trust anyone or anything right now. I feel like anyone could be out to get me."

"I understand how you feel. Honestly, I have been feeling the same way too. We have to remind ourselves that we're in this together, and have been from the start. If there's anyone in this world we need to trust and depend on right now it's each other. Don't let one wrong move from Jin, which he obviously deeply regrets, keep you from trusting any of us. Okay?"

"Okay." Jimin pulled away and smiled as he wiped his tears. He was grateful that this turned out how it had, considering he was anxious about the worst case scenario happening between him and Namjoon. They both collected themselves before entering the room again. The others could tell they both seemed a bit distraught, but Jimin waved them off and said everything was fine. The others believed him when they saw him and Namjoon getting along perfectly well.

"So now what do we do?" Taehyung asked.

"Stay right here. Stay together until Ky and Junso are caught," Jungkook replied. "I don't want to go back home knowing he could be anywhere. He could be at the house. I don't want to go back. Hyungs please I really don't want to-" Jungkook started hyperventilating as he thought of the horror of having to return home and having Ky show up.

"Hey," Taehyung started as he walked over and squeezed Jungkook's shoulder. "Deep breaths, Kook. We will stay here until this is worked out. We don't have to go home, right?" He turned to the others for reassurance.

"Of course not," Jin added. "We will all stay right here."

And that's exactly what they did. They stayed in Yoongi's hospital room with him while they waited for any news.

Days went by.

Yoongi was recovering well, and he did end up finding out it was Jin who had hit Jungkook. He was angry at first but he figured he was too exhausted with life itself to think about it too much. He could see Jin's remorse and figured the two would work it out eventually. He knew Jungkook wasn't capable of staying angry with Jin forever.

He was now up and moving around on his own. His bruising was still quite gnarly, and he had a lot of stitches from where he'd needed surgery to fix up some of his internal injuries. The painkillers he was on kept most of that pain at ease, and he was able to switch to a medication that didn't make him feel so exhausted and drained all the time. He was able to be up and interact with everyone. His heart was devastated that he couldn't be there for his members during the time he was unconscious, but he tried hard to forgive himself for that knowing it was out of his control.

The members were growing impatient. Within the days they'd been holed up in the hospital room, the only news they had received was that there had been some doctors who admitted to being threatened into siding with Ky. They were currently on suspension while they had to undergo a bunch of legal battles for everything.

Mr. Lee's police force had also made a handful of arrests, unfortunately none of them had been Ky or Junso. They were able to catch people who had impersonated the police force, and they had even done some underground busts and arrested other mafia related people.

"They're hiding, and they're hiding well," Mr. Lee informed the members one afternoon. "But we've uncovered a lot and made a lot of arrests, so whatever operation they were trying to build is crashing and burning to the ground."

"What do we do if they're never caught?" Taehyung asked nervously. "We can't stay here forever. Eventually Yoongi hyung will be discharged and then we will have no choice but to go home."

"Then I'll have my men post up outside your house as well," Mr. Lee replied. He really wanted the members to know that he'd do anything in his power to keep them safe. He wasn't just doing it for them, but he was doing it for his son too. He knew how devastated his son would be if anything happened to BTS that caused them to stop making music.

"You'd do that for us?" Jungkook's eyes went wide as he realized not every person in this world was a monster.

"Absolutely, but I'd say enjoy your time here the best you can until you're told it's time to go."

Jin gave Mr. Lee a thumbs up before asking, "Where do you think they are? I mean for all we know they could have fled the country."

Mr. Lee started to laugh. "Have any of you been keeping up with the news?"

They all shook their heads. The news was the last thing they wanted to see regarding all of this. They'd done their best to stay off of social media and keep the TV's off. At least until they felt like the danger was behind them.

"Their faces and names are plastered everywhere. All places they could possibly go to leave the country are under heavy patrol," Mr. Lee informed.

Hobi's anxiety was getting the best of him. He started listing all the ways Ky and Junso could get around that. Personal jets, personal boats, personal anything really.

"Well if they're not even South Korea, then there's no threat to you anymore anyway. I promise you guys he's never going to hurt any of you ever again. Trust me on th-"

Mr. Lee stopped when he was cut off by sirens blaring all throughout the hospital. All of the lights shut off except for some red emergency lights. They heard the doors locking from the outside.

The members all ran for each other and huddled together. "What's that?" Yoongi asked as he frantically looked around for all signs of danger.

"You boys stay here and don't open this door for anyone until I come back." Mr. Lee immediately took off outside of the room. On the bright side, there were still police in the room with the boys, but this situation had them freaking out.

"I'm scared," Jimin cried as he pushed his body closer into the others.

Namjoon turned to the police who were in the room with them. "Any ideas?"

They shook their heads no, but one mentioned that it could be anything from a patient issue or some kind of domestic dispute. "I wouldn't worry about it too much."

That proved hard to do when the members started hearing screaming and shouting, and what sounded like gunshots, coming from a floor below them. All they could do was cry and hug each other and hope whatever was going on would end soon. The hospital had been placed into a total lockdown.

Hours.

And hours.

Almost twelve hours later, Mr. Lee finally returned. He seemed in good spirits and unharmed so the boys figured whatever had happened couldn't have been too terrible. They jumped to their feet with anticipation.

"What the hell was all that about?!" Jungkook cried.

Mr. Lee patted Jungkook's shoulder. "You boys don't have to worry about Ky or Junso anymore. We've got them."

"What do you mean? Was it them who caused all of that earlier?" Taehyung asked as he started to bite his nails. The thought of those two being in the same building as him made him want to throw up.

"Yeah, yeah it was them all right. Thinking they could show up here in disguise and threaten my men with guns." Mr. Lee's voice suddenly turned to one of annoyance. "They may be violent but I'll tell you one thing, those two aren't smart."

"I-I heard gunshots," Namjoon's voice shook. "D-did anyone get shot?"

Mr. Lee started smiling again. "Only those two dumbasses."

"Wait...they got shot? Does that mean...are they dead?!" Jungkook felt his heart racing. He wasn't sure how he'd react to that news.

Mr. Lee waved his hand at them. "Dead? Pssh. You think I'd let them off the hook that easily? Killing them would have only set them free. That's not how I work. They'll get what they deserve. Unfortunately, they do need to be treated for their gunshot wounds but I had them transferred to a secured hospital, so there won't be any escaping for them. Once they're done there they'll be transferred to prison."

"And then what?" Jin asked.

"Then? Then all the fun legal crap. In the meantime though, enjoy yourselves. They won't be bothering you any longer, and rest assured they aren't lingering out in the world anymore either. Their work here is done."

Taehyung dropped his gaze and started nervously rubbing his foot back and forth on the floor. "I guess that means your work is done here too, then? You'll be leaving with all of your police force now?"

The members could tell there was sadness in Taehyung's voice. Truthfully, none of them really wanted Mr. Lee or his men to go but they knew they couldn't be babysat forever.

Mr. Lee patted Taehyung's head. "My work is never done. I can keep a few of my men with you, at least until Ky and Junso are transferred into prison, if that would make you feel better."

"Please please please please!" Jungkook suddenly begged as he put his hands together.

"You got it, kiddo."
