Jin had backhanded Jungkook so hard across the face that it sent the maknae tumbling backwards, landing hard on the floor with a thud as the wind got knocked out of him.
Jungkook was sobbing harder than before. His tears turned into oceans flooding out of his eyes as he looked up at his hyung while clutching his burning cheek in his hand. He was too shocked and confused to form any coherent words. The only thing that left his lips were the cries of his broken heart.
Jin stood above him, remaining silent as well. He furrowed his brows and tilted his head, staring curiously at his maknae. It was as if he didn't understand what had just happened, and he didn't know what to do about it. He felt anger and sadness in his heart all at the same time.
Jimin suddenly barged in the room after hearing quite a commotion. He looked down to see Jungkook in a fit of tears and clutching his cheek while Jin stood there. It was obvious what had happened, and now Jimin was in shock.
"Oh...no...hyung...what did you do?"
Jimin knelt down to help Jungkook stand up, but Jungkook shoved him away. He stood on his own and turned to Jin. "I hate you! I hate you!" He ran out of the room and disappeared.
Jimin's blood was boiling with anger now. He wasn't sure how to process this. He knew that Jin and Jungkook had been through a lot and they were both hurting physically and mentally, but he didn't think it was an excuse for Jin to hurt anyone.
"What the hell, dude?! Why did you hurt him?! The only person worth hurting is Ky, not our own fucking maknae! What the hell did you do that for?!"
"I-" Jin was sobbing now. "I don't know. He was pissing me off." He couldn't tell if he was feeling remorse or crying because he was so unbelievably annoyed. It wasn't setting into his head what he'd really just done. All he knew was Jungkook wasn't listening, and now his migraine was a hell of a lot worse.
"Jin!" Jimin screamed. "It doesn't matter what the hell he was doing, you don't hurt him! You don't hurt anybody!"
Hobi and Namjoon ran in when they caught ear of the two fighting in Jin's room. They asked what was going on and Jimin explained what he had walked in on.
"No way..." Hobi looked at Jin with bewilderment. "You hurt him? Jungkookie? Of all people, you hit Jungkook?!"
"Please, all of you, go." Jin wiped at his tears. He felt like he couldn't process what was going on with everyone in his room yelling at him like this.
"How about you go and apologize to him!" Namjoon shouted. "What the hell were you thinking?!"
"Apparently I-I wasn't. I'm sorry."
"Say sorry to Jungkook, not us!" Jimin screamed. He walked up to Jin and pointed his finger in his hyungs face. "I don't give a shit about respecting you right now. I understand you hurt your head but what you did was wrong! We deal with enough abuse from Ky, I'll be damned if it continues with you! You ever put your hands on any of us again, and it will be the last thing you ever do!"
Namjoon pulled Jimin back, and without a word Jimin departed from the room. He knew if he stayed any longer his anger would only worsen. He had a lot more to say to his hyung but wanted to control himself before things escalated further.
Hobi and Namjoon waited for Jin to get a move on to go apologize to Jungkook, but Jin hesitated. He couldn't help but feel like he wasn't completely in the wrong here. Part of him still felt like Jungkook deserved it because he wasn't listening. At the same time, his brain was foggy and he also knew he had never hit Jungkook before no matter how much he hadn't listened. The hit came on impulse. He didn't realize he was even doing it when it happened but now he was paying the consequences for it.
The eldest took a few deep breaths and said he would go apologize, mainly to get everyone off his back about it. Namjoon and Hobi followed him as he made his way to Jungkook and Taehyung's room. He could hear Jungkook sobbing, but it was muffled. He creaked the door open to see that the maknae had curled up in bed with Taehyung and was being cuddled as he cried into his hyung's chest. Taehyung was bawling his eyes out too.
Taehyung pulled Jungkook closer when he saw Jin walk in. "Get out. Get the hell away from him. Get away from both of us. What is wrong with you?"
Jungkook turned to see his hyung, and fear shot through his body. He prayed his hyung didn't come back to do more damage. He was used to so much abuse from Ky it was hard to know anyone's intentions anymore.
He saw Namjoon and Hobi right behind the eldest and realized they had confronted him.
"I came to say sorry." Jin stood there, waiting for the maknae's response but he didn't seem to have one.
Instead, he buried his face deeper into Taehyung's chest and continued to cry. He knew that a simple sorry wasn't going to fix this right now. He also suddenly really wanted the only person who couldn't be there. "I-I want Yoongi h-hyung," he sniffled.
Jin turned and ran away to his room, slamming the door shut behind him. He threw himself down into the bed and grabbed Yoongi's pillow, soaking it with his tears. I want Yoongi too! If he had been home, maybe this would have never happened! Yoongi would have known what to do! He would have stopped me from hitting Jungkook! Damn it, Yoongi! When are you going to get better?!
He clutched his dongsaeng's pillow tighter and sobbed into it. "Please hurry u-up and g-get better."
Nobody followed Jin back to his room. He didn't know what the others were doing or saying but he was glad to finally have some peace and quiet while he could collect his thoughts and figure out what went wrong and why he had done what he did. As his heart stopped racing and his tears lightened up, despite his intense head pain, he was able to drift into a quiet sleep.
On the other hand, the others were still in the maknae's bedroom and none of them could rest. Jungkook couldn't stop crying thinking that the relationship between him and Jin was forever ruined, all because he couldn't listen. "I wasn't trying to be bad." He had already explained to them why Jin had gotten angry.
Hobi was sitting next to him on the bed and rubbing his back. "You weren't being bad."
Finally, Jimin had decided to step into the room after blowing off some steam elsewhere. "Did he apologize?"
"He said sorry. That was it though," Namjoon replied.
Jimin put his arms up. "What the hell was he thinking?"
"You heard him earlier. He said that he wasn't."
Namjoon walked over to Jimin and placed his hand on his dongsaeng's shoulder, squeezing it gently. "I think he needs some time to process what really happened. As shitty as what he did was, I think this clearly had more to do with the car accident and him getting a concussion. We all know if he were in his right mind he would have never put his hands on any of us."
All of them could agree that much was true, but it didn't make anyone feel any better. It was a shitty situation all around and it was going to be difficult to get past it.
Taehyung couldn't get a certain thought out of his head. "What does this mean for us?"
"What do you mean?" Jimin asked as he sat on the bed next to Taehyung's head and started playing with the younger's hair.
"I don't know. I guess I'm just asking if we will be okay?"
"Something has to give," Hobi shrugged. "This can't be how it ends for us. This can't be forever."
Taehyung looked at Namjoon. "It already did end."
Namjoon couldn't help but feel slightly offended. He knew Taehyung was talking about how he had made the decision to end the band's contracts.
"Excuse me, but we all agreed to it. We all knew it's for the best. It was the only way to get out of Junso's, and Ky's control. Once we figure those two out, then we can figure the band stuff out. Don't you start pointing fingers. I did this to protect us and you know it."
Taehyung sighed. "I know. Sorry."
He knew the intentions were good, and Namjoon had been right, they did all agree to it. It was their only escape for now even though it hurt.
Jimin didn't want to see any more arguments ensue, so he quickly diverted the conversation. "I think it's time we all got some rest."
The others all agreed. Namjoon asked Taehyung and Jungkook if they would like someone to stay, but they said they'd be alright.
Jimin, Namjoon, and Hobi departed for their own room. While passing Jin's room, they stopped to listen through his door but were met with silence. They figured he had fallen asleep.
As soon as the three sat on their beds, the exhaustion from all of these events and emotions finally caught up to them. Jimin sat criss cross on his bed while Namjoon and Hobi got up to change their clothes. He had a lot on his mind and had done a lot of thinking after he had stormed out of Jin's room earlier.
"This is never going to get any better if we can't find help." Jimin stared at his hyungs, waiting for their reply.
"Well for now, things are okay," Namjoon replied as he pulled a new shirt down over his head.
"Jin just smacked Jungkook really hard. You call that okay?"
"No, that's not what I'm saying. What I mean is that for right now, Ky is gone and Junso can't control us. That's better than things have been the last few weeks."
"Better than things have been? Ky or Junso can show back up here any time and do whatever damage they want. Yoongi is..." Jimin stopped himself, he didn't want to talk about Yoongi because he really didn't feel like crying any more right now. "-I'm just saying we need more help than we are getting."
"And who the hell are we supposed to get that help from? We know we're on our own. Junso did something that basically turned everyone against us. Police, doctors, you name it, for some reason everyone is on Ky's side."
"And you don't think that's strange?" Jimin asked. "Why would everyone be on Ky's side? Where did Junso ever get the money to pay off all these people, demanding they ignore us? Why does he need Ky in this band so desperately that he's willing to do anything to keep him here? And also lie to us saying we owe him billions of dollars? There has to be more to this than they're letting on. This isn't normal."
Hobi raised an eyebrow. "Of course it's not normal, but what are we supposed to do? Sure, we also have a lot of money and make a lot of money but not enough to pay more than what Junso did in order for us to get these people on our side."
"I'm not saying we have to pay anyone for anything," Jimin replied. He started to nervously pick at the skin around his nails. He had an idea of what he wanted to do, but he didn't know how any of his members would feel about it.
"Then what are you saying?" Namjoon raised an eyebrow and took a seat next to Jimin on his bed.
"I'm saying that there has to be help out there. Someone, somewhere, has to know about Ky. There has to be someone out there who knows more than us and who can actually help. One goddamn soul on this earth has to be willing to help us. That man belongs in jail forever and I am willing to do whatever it takes to put him there before we all end up dead!"
"I'm sure someone, somewhere, does know something, but who would we even ask? All authority is on his side," Hobi replied.
"I know who we could ask." Jimin's eyes shot back and forth between Namjoon and Hobi. They both looked equally confused and he realized they weren't getting it. He grabbed his phone and opened Twitter. He went straight to the BTS Twitter page and pointed to the millions of followers the account had. "It only takes one post."
"No!" Namjoon shot up off the bed.
Jimin shot up after him. "What do you mean no?! Hyung, if millions of people knew, there's no way he would get away with what he's doing! Ky and Junso could both be put in jail! You know ARMY would have our back!"
"They'd also freak the fuck out!" Namjoon's voice picked up. He thought Jimin was being insane. "We can't do that to them. They'd be so worried and it'd turn into a bunch of drama. I don't want them involved. What if an ARMY tries to help, and they get hurt somehow? I won't risk that. This doesn't concern them."
Hobi put his hand in the air. "May I say something?"
The two looked at him.
Hobi looked at Jimin. "I understand where you're coming from, but I have to agree with Namjoon. It's too risky to involve them."
Jimin felt tears start to sting his eyes. "I think it's too risky not to. It does concern them. They're here to support us. And what if Ky or Junso had actually killed one of us? It's only a matter of time before that happens if we don't seek that kind of help. Nobody will get hurt. There's too many of them. They can take on Ky and Junso better than we can." He went and slumped back down on his bed. "They're our last hope. If we can't ask them for help, we have nobody. And not only will this just be the end of the band, but the end of our friendship, and then the end of our lives."
"What do you mean the end of our friendship?" Hobi asked.
"If Jin has the nerve to hit Jungkook, it's only going to get worse. Soon enough we will all be at each other's throats. I had to step away from hyung earlier because I was the one ready to start hitting." Jimin covered his face with his hands as he started crying harder. "I'm trying to save us no matter what it takes. I can't lose this family."
Hobi and Namjoon both pulled Jimin into a hug.
"Don't think on impulse. Let's spend a little more time thinking of what we should do," Namjoon suggested.
"That's not fair. You acted on impulse earlier by having us all quit because you knew it was the right thing to do. So why can't I do the same thing? If we aren't a band anymore, then technically you're not my leader anymore either so I don't even have to listen to you!"
Those words cut Namjoon like a knife.
"Jimin..." He didn't even know what to say. He wasn't trying to come off as selfish or authoritative. He was trying to protect everyone. "I'm still your hyung and I still need to do what I think will protect not just you, but everyone. Us and ARMY. All I'm saying is we need to think this through."
Namjoon and Hobi were surprised that Jimin had actually caved quite easily. "Fine. Think it through or whatever. I'm going to bed."
Yet, now in the midst of the night while everyone was fast asleep, Jimin was tossing and turning. Too many thoughts consumed his brain. What if Namjoon never allows it? What if things get worse?
He decided to get up and get a glass of water. As he passed Jin and Yoongi's room he stopped to contemplate all of the days, and even the weeks, events. He dragged his feet into the kitchen and grabbed himself a glass. He looked down the hall that had Ky's room in it and he clutched his glass in his hand so hard that it almost shattered.
No. You know what? This can't wait. I won't let it. This ends now. I don't care how mad anyone might be at me. This is what has to happen.
He trailed back to his room and curled up under his covers with his phone in his hand. He opened up Twitter and hit the little button that would allow him to post something.
Just air it all out, Jimin. ARMY will help. I don't know how, but they will. They can do anything.
His fingers started typing away. "I will keep this short. Got a new member and we've been suffering his abuse. Constantly in hospital. We almost died. Manager Junso paid off everyone to protect a man named Ky-Shi. SOS. HELP."
He held his finger over the 'Post' button with hesitation. His eyes kept scrolling over one specific sentence. 'We almost died.' His tears came back as he closed his eyes and without even looking...
He pressed 'Post.'
