Surviving Number 8. Part 17.

Namjoon held his middle finger up to the door as Junso disappeared out of it. He turned to see Jimin clenching fistfuls of his own hair in frustration.

"There is no way we would owe him billions. He's lying," Jimin stated.

"I know he's lying. I read every single word of our contracts. He's bluffing to scare us. And you know what I say to that? Fuck him, that's what. I won't let him scare me too. I'm so tired of being scared." Taehyung curled up in his hospital bed and clutched his pillow to his chest. "He's the least of my worries right now." His mind immediately went to Yoongi. He buried his face into his pillow as he started to cry loudly. His heart was so broken for his hyung. Please be okay. Please wake up and be okay.

The sound of Taehyung's crying caused everyone else's hearts to shatter a little more as they burst into their own tears.

Yoongi...

The feeling of knowing there was absolutely nothing they could do to help their brother left a heavy weight inside all of them. What was worse was that the person who had done so much harm to everyone was walking around free. Nobody believed that anything was Ky's fault.

Jin didn't mean to crash the car.

Hobi had a pool accident.

It was Taehyung's own fault for not eating and being so malnourished he had passed out.

Yoongi climbed to the top of a tree for fun and fell out, hitting branches on the way down.

Ky convinced the police about all of this. They constantly took his word for it, despite everyone's attempts at telling the truth.

Jin was sobbing. "Why is the entire world against us? I just want help." He buried his face into his hands. "We have nobody."

Jimin wrapped Jin up in a tight hug. "That's not true hyung. We have each other." He kissed the top of his hyungs head to comfort him and then rocked him in his arms. The two of them stayed like that for quite a while. Sometimes a hug was all someone could give, and sometimes it was more than enough.

A few more days passed and Hobi's lungs had fully recovered. He didn't need breathing treatments anymore.

Taehyung had, to everyone's happiness, actually put some weight back on because he was eating well. Jungkook had questioned his hyung on how he was able to make such a turn around on his own.

"Because, Jungkookie. I passed out in the parking lot. As scary as that was, I realized something that had scared me even more. What if I had passed out sooner? What if I had passed out while trying to help save others? I would have been useless, and people could have died because of my own selfishness. I can't risk that. I need to be strong enough to save my family. I have to be able to protect you." Taehyung held his hand out and grabbed his maknae's, squeezing it. "I was being stupid. I can't let Ky win."

"You weren't being stupid, hyungie." Jungkook pulled Taehyung into a hug. "You were hurting."

Jin was listening and couldn't help but feel bad again about the time he'd screamed at Taehyung to eat, which that, mixed with Ky's scariness, had made the boy pass out before as well. He was so glad to see his dongsaeng being so strong now.

Jungkook's injuries had healed well. His ribs were okay, but his fingers would have to remain casted as they had more healing to do.

Jin was still dealing with a bad concussion. His head constantly hurt and he felt a lot of pressure behind his eyes that would always spiral into headaches. He had to be monitored, but it was definitely getting better. One thing that the members began to notice was Jin's personality was beginning to shift a bit.

He was starting to seem moody and irritated more often than not. He'd even stopped cuddling up with Jungkook in bed to make sure he was breathing while he slept. Now he stuck to his own bed, usually covering his eyes with a blanket or pillow and not wanting to engage in much conversation. There were a few instances where he'd even asked everyone politely to please stop talking for a little while. When they hadn't listened, Jin had screamed at everyone, which had only made his headache even worse. Nurses had to start giving him more medicine to help with the pain and irritability, but the members felt it wasn't working all that great.

Jin wasn't himself at all.

A doctor had walked into the room while everyone was quietly resting during the late afternoon. It was Yoongi's doctor.

Jimin and Namjoon shot to their feet. The others all sat up in their beds.

"Do you have an update on hyung?" Hobi asked. He clasped his hands together as if about to engage in silent prayer.

"I do have an update on Min Yoongi," the doctor replied.

The members felt their hearts seize up. They weren't sure if they even wanted to know how he was because to them, at least no news meant no bad news.

The doctor continued, "We took him off of 24/7 sedation and we are now sedating him on intervals to give him some time to be awake and coherent."

"Is he awake and coherent now?" Jin asked.

The doctor shook his head. "No, he is not. But I wanted to inform you that each day that goes by, he's doing a bit better. We are waiting until his organs heal up a bit more before slowly ending the sedation so he's not in so much pain."

Hobi dropped his gaze to the floor and wiped his tears with his shirt sleeve. "Hyung is probably in the worst pain...the worst out of all of us...my hyung..." He looked to the doctor. "It's safe to say at this point he won't die, right? You can officially confirm 100 percent that he is going to make it out of this okay?"

"Saying he will be okay is a statement he will only be able to make on his own. Health wise, yes, he will be alright. Mentally I do not know. That will be up to him. He took quite a fall from that tree."

Taehyung clenches his fists. "That's not what fucking happened and you know it." He still couldn't believe all these doctors were so blindly fooled by Ky's lies. He was probably given a bullshit pay out too.

The doctor frowned. He assumed Taehyung was still a bit brain fogged from having recently passed out. "That is all the news I have for you today."

"Can we see him when he wakes up?" Jungkook asked. Everyone could hear the desperation in his voice.

"I'm sorry, but no. Visitors will be too overwhelming for him at this current point in time."

Jimin burst into tears. "We haven't seen him in forever...please...please let us in there. I'm sure it will help him to see us. Maybe he misses us. Do you think he misses us? Does he know we are all okay?"

"I'm sorry but he can't have visitors yet. I promise when he's doing a little better then you can see him." With that, the doctor said goodbye and headed out of the room. Jimin made his way onto Hobi's bed and the two curled up and cried together. Namjoon walked over and held the two in a hug.

Everyone turned to Jin when they heard him sigh loudly. He was laying in his bed with his arms draped across his closed eyelids. He was listening to the doctor's news but hadn't engaged in any conversation.

"It's all bullshit," Jin groaned. "It's just all damn fucking bullshit."

The members were silent. They weren't sure where Jin was going with this but they didn't want to say anything that would add to his evident anger.

Jin sat up and finally made eye contact with everyone. His eyes were bloodshot and wet as he held back tears. It hurt too much to cry. He was sick of it. He was sick of everything. However, he had nothing else to say. He sat there silently staring at everyone.

Namjoon walked over and rubbed his back. "I know, hyung. At least we don't have to worry about the band anymore. Junso and Ky can both kick rocks now."

"Manager Junso-" Jin started, but Namjoon cut him off. "He's not our manager anymore, hyung."

"I guess we will see about that. Him and his stupid contract bullshit. I don't know how he expects us to pay him that kind of money."

"We aren't paying him that kind of money, because I know he's lying about the contract," Taehyung replied. He really wasn't worried. Junso can lie all he wants.

Jin went quiet. He figured Taehyung was right, and his head hurt too much to really worry about it all right now.

The hours turned into days, and before they knew it, everyone aside from Yoongi was being discharged from the hospital. They were healing up nicely; Jungkook's fingers were even un-casted now. They received constant updates on Yoongi and were glad he was doing well but devastated that nobody was allowed to visit yet.

"No." Hobi crossed his arms and refused to leave the hospital as everyone was getting ready to go. "I'm not leaving Yoongi hyung here all alone. I'm not! I won't! Someone needs to stay here and be here for him, even if it's from another room!"

"Hyungie...we aren't allowed to stay...we have to go home." Jungkook lightly held Hobi's hands in his own. "Yoongi hyung is in the best place for him right now. We all got through our injuries and he will too." He turned and glanced at Jin, and then back to Hobi. "Well, some got through them better than others, but he will be okay soon enough for us to come see him."

"You don't understand Jungkookie...what if...you know who shows up and does something." Hobi's heart was racing. He knew Ky had snuck into Jin's room when he was given the chance. All he could think about was Ky returning and hurting Yoongi somehow. Even though they hadn't seen him or their manager in quite a while.

"If he's not allowed visitors, Ky won't be allowed in either," Namjoon reassured.

"But someone needs to stay here and make sure," Hobi pouted. "Someone needs to stay and protect him."

A doctor came in and Hobi begged to stay so he could be close to Yoongi. The man assured him that once their brother was allowed visitors, they'd be the ones receiving the first phone call. "Unfortunately, once you are discharged, you do need to head home."

Hobi knew it was a fight he wouldn't win. Stupid hospitals and their bullshit rules. He crossed his arms. "Fine." He paused, and then slowly looked at everyone else. "But what if...what if he shows up at home?"

Everyone gulped.

Jin spoke up. "Then I'll kill him. I'm over it. I'm over him. I'm over this."

As much as they would very much like for Ky to be dead, their hyung's words were unnerving. He seemed void of emotion, like he actually didn't care to kill Ky. Or kill anyone for that matter.

"I'm ready for this nightmare to be over. And first things first, I am looking forward to sleeping in my own bed. So if we could pack our things and be on our way, that would be great." Jin headed straight for the door as the others trailed behind and they headed home in the rental car.

Everyone hesitated to get out of the car when they pulled back into the driveway. They knew the house was exactly how they'd left it. At least everyone but Jin and Jungkook knew since they'd already been in the hospital when all the horrors of that terrible night had transpired. Jungkook was trembling.

"W-what if he's inside the house?" Jungkook asked nervously.

"Well his car isn't here so I doubt it." Jin was the first to hop out and head inside. The others followed. They walked in and took a deep breath as they finally breathed in the air of their own home for the first time in such a long time.

The first thing they were met with was blood all over the kitchen floor. Jimin covered his face and started bawling his eyes out so hard that he couldn't catch his breath. "Y-yoongi hyung," he whimpered. He knew it was Yoongi's blood. Flashbacks of seeing his hyung almost dying on that floor flooded his brain.

"Hey, it's alright. I will clean it up," Namjoon offered. He immediately grabbed paper towels and cleaning solution and started scrubbing his hyungs blood off the floor. He couldn't hold back his own tears as he did it. He's alright. He's going to be fine. Hyung is really strong and he's going to be okay.

Hobi couldn't even look out the back door. He didn't want to see the pool. The memory of that night made his skin crawl. I wonder if I will ever swim again. The thought of being near water repulsed him.

Jin said he was desperate for his bed and immediately ran to it to fall asleep. He'd been sent home with some medicine for his head and the stuff he was on now made him pretty exhausted.

Taehyung agreed that he was feeling rather exhausted too and wouldn't mind going and resting for a bit. He asked Jungkook if he would like to accompany him, but Jungkook politely declined as he glanced at Jin's closed door. He wanted to have some private conversation with the eldest.

"Suit yourself," Taehyung said before dragging his feet down the hall to his room.

Jungkook made his way into Jin's room. He saw his hyung curled up under the blanket. When Jin heard him enter, he sat up. "It's weird without Yoongi-ah."

"I know," Jungkook replied. The youngest made his way to the bed and sat next to his hyung.

"How are you?" Jungkook asked. The maknae felt like despite their time in the hospital together, the two hadn't really had a chance to talk about the car accident or how they were feeling.

"How do you think?" Jin replied as he lay back down and closed his eyes.

"Not good," Jungkook frowned. He lightly gripped his hyungs arm and held his hand there. "I'm worried about you, hyungie. When we were first reunited you were really happy to see me and very emotional, which I would expect. Yet lately you have been acting a bit weird."

"What do you mean?" Jin asked curiously.

"You're so moody and angry lately."

"So? What the hell do you expect? For me to be running around and twirling through the air or something? Sorry if I'm a little bit irritable. We've been through a lot. Now if you don't mind I really don't feel like having any conversation. I want to sleep."

Jungkook didn't let go of Jin's arm. "I don't expect that. You're just...not the same as before. I know we've been through a lot." Jungkook could feel the pressure behind his eyes worsen as the floodgates were working their way towards the brim of his eyes. "If you don't want to talk, can I please at least stay in here with you ?"

"I would prefer to be left alone."

Jungkook didn't understand why Jin didn't want to be around him. He couldn't help but feel offended. He suddenly craved his hyungs presence, feeling as though if he walked out of the room he'd lose his hyung forever.

"P-please, hyungie? I just want to rest in here with you," the maknae begged.

"No, Koo. Please get out."

"But hyung...please? I...we almost lost each other and I just want to spend more time with you."

Jin shot up in bed and turned his now red face to the maknae. "What the hell do you not understand about the word no?"

The youngest could see the anger start radiating off his hyung. He scooted off the bed and stood next to it, finally releasing his tears. His bottom lip was trembling as he silently stood there. He was silently protesting. He didn't want to leave. He wanted to cuddle with his Jin hyung, at least for a little while.

Jin suddenly stood up and in front of his maknae.

"Get.Out." Jin pointed to his bedroom door.

"Hyung please. I need you right now." Jungkook's chest was rising and falling rapidly as he cried.

Jin had enough. His maknae wasn't listening.

"And I need you to get the hell out of my room! How many damn times do I have to ask?! Why is it so hard for you to listen!?" He grabbed Jungkook by both of his upper arms and started pushing him backwards towards the door. "Now get the hell out of here before I make you."

Jungkook's heart practically stopped. He didn't see Jin's face anymore.

He saw Ky's.

"H-hyungie you promised. You promised," Jungkook quietly whimpered through his new heartbreak.

"Promised what?!" Jin screamed as he squeezed Jungkook's arms tighter.

"That you would never be like him." Jungkook glanced at both of Jin's hands that were squeezing his arms. He didn't say anything. He wanted Jin to realize on his own that he was hurting him.

Jin wasn't taking the hint. He pulled Jungkook close to his face. "You think just because I want you out of my room, that I'm some kind of monster now?"

"N-no hyung," Jungkook's voice trembled. He realized Jin didn't seem to care what he was doing. He tried pulling out of his hyungs grip. "It's not about the room. You're hurting me! Let go!"

"Gladly!" Jin screamed. He let go of Jungkook and gave him a hard shove backwards. "Now get the hell out!"

Jungkook froze after stumbling backwards a bit. He didn't understand what was wrong. Jin is supposed to love me. What the hell is he doing?

"Hyung," Jungkook started. "Why are you being like this?" The maknae was rubbing both of his arms where Jin had squeezed him.

"Why?! Because you're not listening! I've asked you to leave and for whatever reason, you're not listening! You know what, maybe Ky had it right! Maybe I understand now why he's so damn angry all the time! God knows you're doing a hell of a good job pissing me off right now! All I asked for was some damn peace and quiet on my own, and you can't even respect that one wish?!" The eldest gripped at his own hair as he felt a migraine completely consume him. When he saw Jungkook silently standing there sobbing instead of leaving his room, he couldn't control his anger anymore.

"What does it fucking take for you to listen?!" Jin screamed at the top of his lungs as the back of his hand came down and collided with Jungkook's cheek.

For the first time ever, in a fit of pure rage, Jin had hit the maknae.
