Deceptive Hills

This past Friday our team went to a kind of hilly park with this lake by it. At first I was like "Cool! This is really pretty and the hills are rolling." LIES AND SLANDER! FAKE NEWS! ALTENATIVE FACTS!

We spent about half a mile in the nice, pretty part before taking a right and going up a mile long hill (steep, I might add) though this ugly brush stuff. Every time I turned the corner, expecting the hill to end, it JUST GOT STEEPER!!! Suffice to say I wasn't a happy camper -- but at least we go to go back down it super fast.

Gosh, I just hate when you trick you mind into think the pain is almost over just to look over or up or whatever and see that it just keeps going. But it's good training for that last mile, right? Right?!

TOTALLY didn't run a thirteen minute mile either (well, not the FIRST time)... You're crazy, Coach! I ran an eighty-thirty!

The guys' coach ran with me and the JV boys up it for the first round, so I couldn't slow down as much as I wanted. "There's a reason 'Hill' and 'Hell' are only separated by one letter, guys!"

Yeah... I was feeling pretty far from God at that moment. Also, how does that dude manage to stay so perky while charging a mile long hill?! I'm pretty sure I looked like an overheating kangaroo stuffed in a pair of Nike Pro's... But then again, I always look like that when I run...
