Emotions eat you alive, you can either show them or use them to your advantage to protect the people that keep you sane in this mental messed up world.

It was almost sundown, a dangerous place to be out in the open, we are maybe two more hours away from the RODV, I held tightly onto Daryl, the cold air hitting my non-masked face, it was almost fall, my sisters birthday is so soon.

I saw a small town, it may be safe enough to stop and wait for the sun to come out.

I tapped his shoulder and made sure he saw me point to the buildings, he nodded and zoomed forward, I couldn't help but giggle, he pulled over making everyone else do so.

"What's up?" Dale asked getting out of the RV.

"We need to stop for the night, we won't be able to see them if they are on the road." I said still sitting on the bike, I couldn't get off by myself without calling on my face.

Rick nodded when he came up next to Dale, "I have to agree,the adults take watches and sleep in that motel over there." He said pointing down further.

"I'll check it out while some of the others check around for supplies." Shane said holding his shot gun, to me he seemed he wanted to be leader instead of Rick just by the way he was carrying himself.

Lily and Carol was in charge of watching the kids in the RV, Glenn and John are going to the drug store, Shane and Rick will go check out the motel and see if there are any gun shops, Andrea and Dale would be on watch duty, Daryl and I would go to the store, lastly Jake and Lori would check the supplies we already have.

"Um darlin, you have to get off before I can." Daryl said breaking my train of thought.

"Oh um..." My legs feel like jelly sitting for so long and feeling the engine rumble.

"Don't worry I'll help ya." He extended his arm and I held on to it as a pulled my leg over the bike.

"Thank you." I said moving some of my hair out of eyes.

He got off with ease and grabbed his crossbow, "Show off." I said chuckling which he returned, we started walking towards the store.

"So tell me some of your story." He said suddenly, I sighed.

"Well, I was at the hospital with my dad and fiancee, my dad and I shared a goodbye and I was dragged out by Ron, the bomb blew up the hospital," I cringed at the memory, "after that the non-dead was running after us, so we went to the old house museum, he then told me he never loved me and that he just wanted my money when we were getting married, he pushed me out of the window and I was attacked by walkers, I started fading away but I started fighting back."

We made it to the store front and he turned to keep listening, "When I killed them I saw this blue light in the museum I went up to it and pushed a filing cabinet out of the way to discover a secret exhibit, I found a book, a blue knife and a triangle, saying this all happened once before."

He swore, "Man sounds like you've been through hell princess."

"Haven't we all."

"But what about this happening before?"

"It..."

"Come on you two, get in there and look for supplies and socialize later!" Jake said chuckling, I rolled my eyes and stuck my tongue out at him.

Daryl kicked open the door catching the attention of a walker behind the counter, it happened so quickly I didn't even noticed Daryl had fired an arrow at it.

"You have to teach me how to do that." I said giggling, what is wrong with me?

"Maybe I will." He winked and walked past me to get his arrow I smiled and looked down hiding my blush, I heard him shout.

Snapping my head back up I saw him struggling with a walker since he dropped his crossbow, I ran to him and pulled out my knife, I wrapped my arm around it's neck and pulled, I had to use all my weight which caused me to fall along with the walker, I dropped my knife and it flipped over trying to bite my neck, I pushed on it's shoulders.

Snap, snap, snap, you never stop getting chills from hearing their teeth chomping together, I pushed hard enough to hit holding my shoulders, by then it was over, Daryl had pushed my knife into its head, I was panting trying not to let my emotions get the better of me.

He quickly pushed the walker off and knelt down holding me, "It's okay, let it out." He said into my hair.

"There's nothing to let out." I said quietly.

"You need to let someone else to be the strong one for this one time, trust me princess please."

That did it, I started crying, the hurt and betrayal of the one I loved hurting me, the hurt of the lose of my dad, best friend Casey, and mom, the fear of losing everything that I have that keeps me sane and living.

"Shh, I got ya." Daryl said sweetly in my hair, he never left me, he stayed with me through my emotional break down.

"Thank you."

"Anytime Rae."

We started searching, finding canned food, bottles of water and beer, and even a gun that the store clerk must of kept.

"About time you two." Andrea said, I rolled my eyes, Jake came up knowing what happened, thanks to being twins, he hugged me.

"I know, me too." He kissed the top of my head and pulled away but not leaving my side.

"The motel is safe, we can park everything up front, store our stuff in one room and assign rooms then." Shane said

"Let's do that now, I think everyone is tired and ready to get some sleep." Rick said cutting in, Shane glared at him and I wrinkled my brow, he seems to be trouble for this group.

"Carol, Andrea, and Sophia room 3, Dale, Glenn and Shane room 4, Me, Lori and Carl are in room 5, John and Lily take the...."

"Hold it." I said quickly

"Yes?"

"May I assign my family?"

"Well I guess but.."

"The kids and I haven't been apart since any of this, I would feel much better if my family stayed with me in my room."

"Their going to have to be apart from you one of these days." Andrea said

"What do you do when they have a nightmare about what happened, that they don't know if their parents are alive? Back off, their my family not yours." I snapped at her I get that she lost her sister but don't take it out on the group.

"Jake, Lily, Zoey, and Louis along with John and Chelsea are with me in room...." I looked to Rick

"6."

"John and his little girl can room with me, that's a lot of people with not a lot of beds." Daryl said

"But they are my family..."

"That's okay Rae, I have watch first anyways." John said, I sighed and nodded, I trust Daryl.

"John is on watch first after an hour it will change to me, then Shane, Rae, Daryl, Jake and then finally Glenn to wake us up at first light." We all nodded and walked to our rooms.

Hopefully nothing happened to anyone on watch duty.
