Big Reveal
"Stop knocking me out fuckers!" Jack yelled at no one in particular when he woke up once more. This time, everything was pitch black except for a single spotlight that he would have to use to guide him through the course. Mark was nowhere to be seen, making him wonder if he had already missed the start of the race.
"You're wondering about your friend, aren't you?"
Jack jumped in surprise when he heard a deep voice speak behind him. He glanced around him to see who was talking, but since it was pitch black he could see nothing.
"Since overall your record is better, he's been...eliminated." The man's voice continued. He sounded different than the man in the suit that captured him in the first place, which made it impossible for Jack to know who was talking.
"How? I thought zombies weren't killed permanently in this game." Jack frowned.
"He won't be killed, however his girlfriend, what was her name...Amy, will." The man explained.
"Don't hurt her!" Jack yelled, wishing he could see the man so he could punch him in the face.
"Don't worry, we found a new contestant that happened to be a little closer to home."
Another spotlight flipped on, illuminating Felix's pale face. He looked in terrible shape, both of his hands missing and a long scar trailing from his eyebrow to his chin.
"Felix!" Jack darted towards his friend. Jack let out a tell of shock and pain when he felt a blade slice through his leg, separating him from his foot.
"As you can probably guess by now, there are blades everywhere and you have to maneuver through the course as fast as possible. Best of luck."
Lights on either side of Jack popped to life, revealing the audience watching them and cheering for their favorite.
He mainly heard Felix's name called.
A floating drone flashed them a red light that changed to yellow, then green.
"Here I go again." Jack muttered under his breath as he took off, making sure to stay in the spotlight that shone on the black floor and alerted him of the swinging blades in his path.
Once again, he could see Signe's scared face peering at him from behind the bars of a small cage that only gave her enough room to sit with her knees curled up to her chest.
Felix was far behind, his right leg missing with a cut on his neck bleeding heavily.
"Damnit!" Jack cursed as a blade sliced off his left arm.
"You don't need arms, and you don't need legs." Jack asked himself, remembering when he used to play Happy Wheels and manage to succeed with no arms or legs.
However this was much different since this was very real.
With a last burst of speed, Jack managed to get ahead, his fingers barely gracing against Signe's before she disappeared from view once more.
"Congratulations Sean." The man that was speaking earlier stepped out of the shadows to reveal himself. Jack recognized the man instantly since he had seen him on tv before multiple times since he was the show host.
Hans Showmaster.
"No, don't you dare touch Marzia you sick bastard!" Felix screamed, hobbling towards Hans with pure fury and hatred burning in his ice blue eyes.
"Oh don't worry, I'm saving her, as well as Amy and the others, for the season finale." Hans grinned wickedly.
"As for now, we'll send you two to your conjoined dressing rooms." Hans snapped his fingers, starting the elevator underneath them that brought them down to a decent sized room with a wardrobe for each contestant that held identical outfits. There was also a fridge filled with steaks and water, as well as a row of small beds lined up against the back wall.
"Jack? They got you too?" Dan walked up to Jack and hugged him. His short brown hair was curly and greasy, his skin paler than it used to be and his bones easily visible underneath the black t-shirt he wore. Black cat whiskers added some color to his face.
Without warning, Mark stormed up to Jack and punched him hard in the face, causing Jack to reel back in surprise as he spat out a thin stream of blood that landed on the black carpeted floor. Felix joined in by punching him with one of his arm stumps in the gut, his breath leaving his lungs in a whoosh of air.
"That's for Amy you selfish bastard." Mark growled before walking over to the corner farthest from Jack.
"For Marzia." Felix growled as he sat down on the edge of the bed by Mark, both talking and glaring over at Jack occasionally.
"What was that for?" Dan questioned, glancing over at the moody Mark.
"I won a race against Mark and Felix, so now Hans has Amy, as well as Marzia." Jack explained with an exasperated sigh, running a hand through his pale green hair.
"Doesn't mean they should beat you up. Matthias beat me and made me lose Phil." Dan shrugged nonchalantly in a poor attempt to hide the sadness glittering in his dark brown eyes.
"I'm sorry." Jack apologized lamely, wishing he knew something better to say.
"Me too." Dan whispered before he shuffled back to his own bed.
Each bed was personalized by its respective owner. Mark's had zombie Chica lying down on it with a tiny box tim plush, Felix's had a zombie Edgar and Maya, Dan's had a Phil plush from his own store, Matthias's had a picture of his family, and Jack's had a septic eye sam plush with a picture of Signe and Robin.
There were two other beds that were unoccupied, one black with a guitar, and the other black and orange with a large burger plush.
"Why have t I been down here before?" Jack wondered aloud as he wandered around, mainly to avoid enraging Felix or Mark further.
Jack watched as the elevator descended down once again, this time with Arin and Nate.
"I'm sorry." Nate apologized meekly as Arin stormed over to the black and orange bed.
"Sorry doesn't bring Danny back!" Arin snapped.
"Great, now everyone hates me." Nate grumbled under his breath.
"Join the club." Jack chimed in.
Abruptly the lights switched off, presumably signaling for everyone to go to bed.
"Good luck." Nate patted Jack on the back before going to his black covered bed.
Mark was absent mindlessly stroking Chica's dirt matted gold fur, Felix was holding the pugs close, Matt was staring at the picture on his bed, Nate was strumming chords on his electric guitar that Jack recognized was from his tour he had been going on before the zombie outbreak, and Arin was tossing the Burgie plush up into the air and catching it, his expression unreadable.
Jack crept up to his bed that was located in between Felix's and Mark's crawling underneath the neon green covers and holding the sam plush close to his chest while staring at the picture of hm, Signe, and Robin until he fell asleep.
