Five years later

"Listen! I'm Keith Shadis! I'm your instructor!" a bald man yelled out to the rows of kids in a training uniform facing. He had bald, with a slightly tan complexion and prominent wrinkles on his forehead with are dark circles around his eyes. 'He already annoying with his loud voice' I thought as I stood next to Sayuri on my right in one of the few rows that are only couple away from him. Every trainee wore a open brown jacket that had a symbol of two swords in a X formation with a gray background of a hexagon on the breast pocket, right shoulder, and back with their shirt underneath and white pants with black boots that had straps that wraps around their legs. 'It's uncomfortable in this uniform.' I thought as I pulled on my collar shirt slightly before resting my arms back to my side.

Keith started to go through the rows while looking at them and stopping a few times to yell at them. The people he yelled at were shaken up of were about to cry after he basical insulted them. After he looked through the trainees, he would tell them to turn around before going on to the next row.

Keith stopped at a blue eyes and blonde haired boy in our row and yelled at him. I couldn't hear them though the boy looked like he was going to piss himself.

"Poor, Armin." Sayuri said quietly so that only I can hear. I glanced at her from the corner of my eye while I still faced forward. 'Armin? Wasn't he one of the main character's' friend that was bullied all the time for wanting to see what's beyond the walls? I think he is.' I thought to myself as looked forward. Keith started to walk towards us and started at Sayuri.

"What's your name, soldier?" he yelled at her.

Sayuri did the salute of putting a fist over her heart and her other hand behind her and yelled back with a smile, showing no fear of the man in front of her. "Sayuri Koizumi of the Shiganshina District!"

"Koizumi, what is your purpose of being the army?" he yelled in her face again by my ear. 'He's busting up my eardrums.' I complained to myself as I slightly leaned away without them noticing while still keeping an eye on them just in case.

"I'm going to help humanity be free from the Titans and stay by my friend's, Tsubaki, side." she answered back and looked at me with a grin on her face. My eyes widen at the last part. 'Why did you dragged me into this, Sayuri?' I thought irritated while narrowing my eyes in a slight glare towards Sayuri without Keith's notice.

"Is that so?" Keith said interested as he turned to face to me with a serious face. I glanced back at him and made eye contact. He looked at me and started to stray his gaze to my scar on my right cheek before his gaze met my eyes again.

He yelled at me, "What's your name, soldier?"

I did the same salute as Sayuri as I responded in a bored tone, "Tsubaki Yukimura of the Shiganshina District."

" What is your purpose of joining the military?" he yelled again. 'I'm getting tired of his yelling.' I thought as my eye made small twitch in annoyance.

"I'm going to help humanity not live in fear of Titans and make them be free of this cage." I responded in a bored tone while looking at him in the eyes.

After a moment, he said, "At least you guys show some courage. Maybe you won't be eaten by a Titan", he turned around and yelled while walking to the next row, "Row 7, about your face."

As I turned around, I met the gaze of a teal eyed boy with brown hair looking at me in curiosity and awe from across of me. I ignored him and looked at Sayuri. She grinned up at me as I glowered down at her. I faced forward again and saw Keith held a boy, who did the salute wrong, by the sides of his head while saying something of having to know how to do the salute correctly. He sudden stopped talking as he looked at something. I followed his gaze and saw a girl eating a potato. He dropped the boy and started to walk towards her. As they started to talk, she offered him a quarter of the potato with a smile on her face. After a moment, he smashed the offered piece in his hand. I nearly laughed out loud with Sayuri at the look on the girl's face as she was staring sadly at the smashed potato. He made her run laps until after dinner.

After that incident, he sent us away. I walk with Sayuri towards the dining room for dinner after changing out of our training uniforms. I wore a black long sleeve shirt with dark blue loose, but fitting pants with brown shoes while Sayuri wore a gray button-up shirt that came with a vest and light blue skinny jeans with brown shoes. We both got in line to get our meal. I turned towards her with a glare as she shrunk down slightly.

"Why did you do that? I wanted to not get attention." I told her with annoyance.

"I wasn't really thinking and I had nothing to say and you were standing beside so I just.." she tried to explain.

I shook my head, "Why do I even bother?" I said quietly as I went to get my tray of food, that had potato soup and bread, and started to move towards a table with Sayuri followed my actions.

As we sat down at a table in the corner of the room, I looked across to her, "You need to remind me of the events that going to happen so." I said quietly.

Sayuri looked up at me as she had a spoonful of soup in her hand, "I know, but my memory hasn't been that good for the past couple of days, but I try." she replied before putting the spoonful of soup in her mouth. I sighed before eating my soup and taking a couple bites of my bread. The quietness that was between us was ruined when people started to ask questions about the fall of Wall Maria to the same boy that stared at me from before at a table not far from us. I nudged Sayuri in the shoulder as she was about to take another bit of her soup. She turned and hummed at me.

"Who's that?" I asked while nodded to the teal eyed boy.

She looked at who I was nodded to before looking back at me and answering, "That's Eren. He's the main character." I nodded my head in understanding before going back to my food.

"What did you say?" a voice said not far from us. As I turned around, Eren was face to face with a boy named Jean. He had short, light ash-brown hair on the his sides and back of his hair that is trimmed shorter and had a darker hue. He has small, intense light-brown eyes,have a long face and wore a white button-up shirt with a dark brown vest and dark pants with brown shoes in the center of the room. 'Jean was the one that wanted to join the Military Police that's in Wall Sina and protects the royals there, right? Good thing Keith headbutted him.' I thought to myself and snickered quietly to myself at that last part. I looked back to see Eren walking away with Jean watching him. 'I must have miss a lot. I need to pay attention more.' I scolded myself. After taking a few more bites, I stood up with an empty tray in my hand and walk to the trashcan.

"H-hey, Tsubaki! Wait up!" Sayuri said loudly as she hurried to finish before walking with to the trashcan with an empty tray too.

"Sorry." I apologized as we continued walking to the trashcan. We both threw away our trash and put away the tray by the counter by the trashcan before leaving the dining room.

"I still can't believe you did that to me." I said to Sayuri as we past by Jean, who was still standing there and looking at the entrance. She laughed a little with a hand behind her head.

"Wait! Hey you, two!" a voice shouted towards us from inside the dining room, making us stop at the entrance. We both turned around to see Jean with a red face, looking at us.

"What?" I said in response with a bored tone.

"U-um, y-you both have pretty hair." he stuttered with his face turning more red.

We both looked at each other before looking back at him, "Thanks." we said in unison and turned back around to leave. We both started to walk to the girl's cabin that was on the left side of the camp.

Sayuri muttered, "He called our hair pretty? How strange."

"How so?" I said with a raise eyebrow.

"He was suppose to call Mikasa's hair pretty, not us." she explained shortly before answering my unheard question, "She's Eren's adopted sister and always wears a red scarf."

I nodded in response, "Well, you can't expect the show to go as what it's supposed to do when we are here."

"True", she thought from a moment before grabbing my hand and started to run towards the girl cabins. I yelled out in surprise.

"Come on, we need to go to sleep early!" she yelled back towards me.

We arrived at the cabins, Sayuri barging in and leaving me outside. I sighed tiredly before heading inside while closing the door behind me. I looked around the room. There was multiple queen-sized bunk beds by each other with girls in a bed that are either talking or getting ready for bed. My eyes landed on Sayuri, who was fast asleep on a bottom bunk. 'She really loves to sleep. At least she found me a bed.' I thought with a sweatdrop as my eyes looked up on the empty top bunk above her before walking towards it. I hopped onto the top bunk and laid down. 'Good night, Sayuri.' I thought to myself before closing my eyes to a sweet slumber.
