Avneet's POV
I have been working like a workaholic these days. And I liked it. My boss has been giving me dozens of work.
Somehow, I pissed him off. He's taking it out like this. Asshole.
I like being busy, and I like to be exhausted at the end of the day. Because of this, I don't have time for other things like overthinking. It includes not spending enough time with my sister as well.
This is the reason I am in a bar with my cousin and her boyfriend. I agreed when she said she wanted to spend some time with me, and offered this. Little did I know that she was asking me to be a third wheel for the night.
I glared at her, she was looking hot in her revealing black dress, busy dancing with her boyfriend.
Here, I am alone, getting bored.
My eyes moved from her to a boy with a nice smile, approaching me.
The smile changed into a smirk as he saw me alone.
"What a sexy lady like you doing here, all alone?"
He sat beside me, close enough that I could smell he was DRUNK.
God, I take my words back. I am better off alone.
"I was just waiting for my boyfriend. He went to the washroom." I lied, hoping that he would leave after knowing that I am with my boyfriend.
Unfortunately, he did not. His smirk grew bigger as he said, "He is a fool for leaving you alone when men like me wander here for only this opportunity."
His gaze made me uncomfortable when he eyed me from top to bottom.
I tried to ignore his presence, hoping that my sister would come and get me out of this.
"Come on, let's dance." He placed his hand on my lower back, making me uncomfortable as hell.
He was about to drag me to the front when a husky voice stopped him from doing so.
"What are you doing with my girlfriend?"
I looked from where the voice came. My eyes widened in shock, as I saw siddharth standing there. Even in his simple shirt and black jeans, he was looking dangerous as hell.
What was he even doing here? Wait... Did he just call me his girlfriend?
"I was just gone for a minute, and you thought to steal my girl?" He said with a groan. His voice was deep, dangerous and deadly.
The guy was not that stupid to mess with him when only siddharth's voice made him tremble. "I was just asking... for a dance. Uhm, no worries. I will ask someone else." He replied, trying to hide his fear and disappearing in the crowd in seconds.
I released a sigh of relief that brought siddharth's attention to me.
He sat beside me. There was a... awkward silence between us.
I was still shocked by the fact that he called me his girlfriend.
Okay, he maybe heard the whole conversation. That is the reason he called me his girlfriend. No need to overreact avneet.
I looked at him, he was still looking dangerous and cold as before. Except, he was close enough that I could see the lines of worry on his forehead.
He ordered his drink and ran his hand through his hair. The lines were gone. Replaced with a mischievous expression.
My confusion was replaced with embarrassment when he stated, "I guess, staring at me is your hobby. Isn't it?"
I ignored him and said, "Thank you for helping me."
He nodded in response. Still an asshole.
Silence again.
"What are you doing here?" I asked when he brought the drink to his lips. "Are you worried about something?"
Instant regret filled my heart as the question slipped my mouth. It was not my place to ask.
"Yeah. Got in a fight with my brother. I messed up. But apologizing isn't my thing. I thought the drinks would help. But they are not helping." With my guilt. His unspoken words.
My shocked grew more at his response. I never thought he would share something personal with me. But soon curiosity came in. What would be the reason..?
I looked at him. He was not looking how he looked every day. He was looking kind of... vulnerable?
With a lot of courage, I put a hand on his shoulder and assured him, "Everything will be okay. I don't know the reason behind your fight. But I know one thing for sure, he is your brother after all. He would understand and forgive you."
If I am not wrong, I just saw him smiling. Not a smirk, not a mischievous one. A genuine smile while he looked directly in my eyes.
I could not help but smile back at him. He has a great smile, a smile that would melt the heart of anyone. He isn't that cold.
Maybe.
Our eye contact and his smile, both disappeared when my sister interrupted us.
"I see, I am not the only one enjoying with her boyfriend." Zoya said with a naughty smile, and I saw siddharth smirking while I glared at him.
"I am her friend. Siddharth." I was about to tell her THE TRUTH when he said this.
I widened my eyes when he kissed her hand formally. I do not know why but it just felt wrong.
"I am zoya, her sister." She replied while blushing at his action, which indicated she was so drunk. His boyfriend rolled his eyes and dragged her away.
I coughed while siddharth chuckled. I couldn't help but smile at him.
"Invite me for dinner someday, I would be honored to get to know you."
Siddharth whispered in my ears, making me giggle.
"Noted, sir." I replied sarcastically.
"Siddharth" The last word made me stunned as I saw him leaving with a smirk. Does it mean that I get to call him siddharth?
I smiled as I made my way to the waiter.
I was about to pay for my drinks when he said, "Sir already paid." He didn't need to tell me who the sir was.
Why did siddharth pay for my drinks?
He is... Strange.
Nevermind, I will thank him tomorrow in the office.
