Chapter Fourteen

Blurred.

Disoriented by the wildness.

An army of unknown women crowded the room where I had been staying in my mate's manor. The mixture of their many strong Knight scents and the fuss and noise they proffered only aided in agitating me further. I struggled to contained my crazed and frenzying thoughts. It had been too long that I wasn't freed from my body.

A harsh tug of my face brought me out of my scrambling unconsciousness. Instead, annoyance replaced my being, and a fight to contain furrowed eyebrows, hateful eyes and an otherworldly scowl. I blinked away the glow of dominance that flashed over my eyes, licking my elongated chops to normal.

After I had showered, this clan of women entered my room with luggage of various items. My skin had been rubbed with oils, and my neck had been cleansed and massaged gently. They came together to inspect every inch of my body, making hushed comments. Nothing too loud that suggested I correct something. They trimmed my hair, cleaned up my face and brows, and trimmed my nails before they got to work.

My damp hair was dried and combed thoroughly until it was knot free, extending right below my breast. They applied a cream on my face, under my eyes and my neck, and slowly smoothed it in. My dried hair was parted and placed to frame my face, at each side. I had to be completely natural for the ceremony, as close to how I was born. Clean and free.

When they were finished with their meticulous inspection of my hair and face, I stepped out of my robe and into the white dress that they had brought with them. They gestured to the mirror that was standing on the hardwood floor, that their bare feet pattered frantically with successful holes of annoying me.

In the mirror, my vision refused to focus for more than five seconds. From the glimpses, my raven black hair fell in wavy tresses around my face and down my shoulders, resting delicately on the even more delicate white dress. The sheer white dress that descended down my chest formed a sharp V below my breast. Two grant slits revealed my contrasting skin of my thighs with the ivory of the dress, providing freedom for my long legs. The dress hung tightly from my shoulders from two thin straps.

The only noticeable feature was the flashing in the mirror. My eyes furiously switched between its natural color and glowing gold, and was proving how unsatisfactory I was handling myself. With closed eyes, I smiled. To conceal my dominant and to turn away from whatever the smile I was wearing looked like.

"Thank you," my voice sounded strong.

I heard fumbling before I felt movement around my face. One of the women silently placed a necklace around my neck. I stifled down a feral sound. You never came close to a wolf's neck without permission or familiarity, even if you didn't intend harm. She connected it before stepping back. I turned to face the four women in the room. I let my dominance ascend at their sense of commonness they felt with me. Their necks arched to the side to show exposed jugulars. I nodded and they left.

I turned to the mirror once more, the necklace was gold and the pend dangling, resting high on my neck was blue. A thick rectangular cut sapphire gem elegantly adorned and crested by gold hung from the thin gold chain. The colour of the Knight's insignia. They put a chain around my neck. Like a collar because I was their property now. I stumbled at the thought, and my trembling hands hit the wall to keep me upright.

My chest heaved, my breathing quickened, and my back arched and my wolf urged me on my knees to shift. I slid to the ground with harsh breaths. I can't change as yet, I'm still an outsider. I willed my knees to straighten and pushed myself out of the stopping position, letting out a small scream at the pain that came from the protest of my wild. I had to find him. The door slammed into the wall from my rough opening. His scent permeated through the den letting me know just exactly that everything in the house belonged to him. I descended the stairs, my dress bellowing behind me, as my legs carried me to where I knew he was in his study.

Facing his door, silence and his thick dominance brought me a comfortable suffocating sensation. The only sound was the abnormal palpitations of my heart. Without second thought, I flung the door open. The handle placed in an deadly hold as I peered into his office. My dominance struggling to keep its ascension in the presence of his grandeur of masculinity and wild. He was facing the window, hand gripping his chair. Muscles rippled under the thin white cotton henley shirt he wore as he slowly turned to look at me. He glanced down my body, his eyes resting on my face and focusing on the glowing flashes of my eye. He silently turned back around to look through crystal clear panes windows out looking the forest.

"Come," he said. The deep timbre of his voice echoed the room and resonated in me.

I wordlessly closed the door before I walked into this dominance filled room, with a racing pulse that I couldn't decipher if its cause was nervousness or excitement. My breathing once again increased as I closed the space between us and my golden eyes cruised the outlines of his being. The bond between pulsed in recognition and my body heated. I looked up at him expectantly, standing adjacent from where he stood peering through the window. I chastised myself quickly, before wrenching my eyes from the side of his face to see what had captured his attention. My hand clutched the other behind my back, in control. Teeth clenched and tongue pressed against the roof of my mouth to prevent my canines from becoming elongated. After a minute, I felt his gaze on my face. I turned to look at him. His dark hair had been perfectly combed, his strong chest could been slightly seen from the neck of his shirt. His striking gold eyes glowed as it focused on my, and with one blink he had returned them to their normal color.
