Estrella Selene Kennedy ( born 4 April 2002 ), known as Stella Kennedy, is a Spanish-American actress and singer, best known for her main roles as Nora Grace in Skam España ( 2018 ), the Spanish adaptation of Skam, and as Noah in the Prime Video original film My Fault ( 2023 ), based on the bestselling Wattpad novel series by Mercedes Ron.

In addition to her previous roles, she is set to star as the main character in a Spanish-English horror-mystery show based around football named La Reina ( 2024 ), alongside some former Skam España castmates.

EARLY LIFE

Stella Kennedy was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain; her father is American. Because of this, Stella is bilingual, and can speak both Spanish and English fluently. She grew up learning how to play the viola and piano, and took singing lessons from an early age. Stella has also practiced hip-hop, funk, and modern dance for more than 8 years. She also has an older sister, Victoria, who is a director, writer, and photographer, who recently directed Netflix's limited series, A Perfect Story ( 2023 ), starring Anna Castillo.

CAREER

ACTING ( 2008: 2017-present )

Stella got her start in short films, first appearing in the 2008 horror short Excision in a small role, opposite actress Tessa Ferrer of Grey's Anatomy ( 2005 ) fame. She continued working in short films, appearing in Campfire Creatures: The Skull of Sam as Vicky, co-starring with horror film legend Robert Englund, best known for portraying Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street film franchise.

In 2018, Stella then rose to fame after being cast as Nora Grace in the Movistar+ series, Skam España ( 2018 ), based on the Norwegian teen series, Skam ( 2015 ). The third season of the show centered around Stella's character, Nora, and the character of Viri, played by Celia Monedero. Nora and Viri's season, in particular, was awarded the "Cima TV Award for Equality" from the FesTVal de Vitoria for how it promoted themes of feminism and empowerment to a youth audience.

Since her breakout role as Nora, Stella has been featured in many publications, such as SModa, Glamour, and Vogue. She has continued this success into other acting roles as well, starring in the TVE drama, Parot ( 2022 ) and the Prime Video romance film, My Fault ( 2023 ) as Noah, who is drawn into a forbidden romance with her stepbrother, Nick, who's involved in the dangerous street racing scene. Nick is played by Stella's Skam España co-star, Gabriel Guevara. My Fault ( 2023 ) is based on a popular novel series originally published on Wattpad, called Culpables, by Mercedes Ron. According to Amazon Prime Video, My Fault ( 2023 ) attained the highest opening three-day viewership figures of any non-English local original film in the history of the service after its release in June 2023. Prime Video then confirmed in July 2023 that they would produce two more movies based on the final two books in Mercedes Ron's trilogy, Your Fault and Our Fault, confirming that Stella would reprise her role as Noah in these two films.

In August 2023, Stella appeared in the Steffy Argelich film, Vera, as Vera, a teenager discovering her sexuality as a young man comes to stay with her and her mother on a island retreat, away from his responsiblities as a lawyer and a son.

She has also continued to make appearances in various other short films, including 2019's Ray Sparks, directed by Rafa Pavón, and 2021's La fuerza del Destino, directed by Javier Alonso.

Furthermore, Stella has other upcoming roles, including a television miniseries, Ni una más, based on the novel of the same name by Miguel Sáez Carral, as Alba. Ni una más is set to be released on Netflix. She will appear in the 2024 film 366. La promesa as Nerea. Kennedy will also appear in Prime Video's La Reina as Jana.

MUSIC ( 2020-present )

In 2020, Stella signed with Universal Music and Sony Music, releasing her first single, Bella, in February 2021. Bella debuted as one of the Top 50 viral songs in Spain that year, which was quickly followed up by singles Devuélveme and Impatient Eyes. A fourth single, Cuídate, was released in 2022.

PERSONAL LIFE

She came out as bisexual in 2020 in a statement, "I identify as bisexual, and it's completely okay to not label yourself with any sexual orientation". She also identifies as a leftist, and criticizes both conservative and democratic parties, emphasizing the need to critique both as they are not perfect and both have faults.

She was rumoured to be dating her co-star, Gabriel Guevara, after the release of My Fault ( 2023 ), but she shut down those rumours by posting a picture of her kissing an unknown woman.
