4. Christian Shame

What disgusts me in life, especially as a Christian is how self involved people are in other people's lives. I've noticed over the years that a lot of people love to say that they don't care about what other people do and that people should live care free and how they want to live, all that stuff but you find the same people turning around and judging other people.

When I was in freshman year of high school I told people I was an atheist. I grew up in a household where Sundays were spent cleaning and catching up with school work instead of going to church so I never really thought of myself as a Christian or belonging to any religion. The same couldn't be said for my friends though, they went to church every Sundays/Saturdays or Fridays depending on the church they went to. I often got called a satanic because I didn't believe in God and I realised how disgustingly judge Christians could be.

The Bible preaches love and acceptance but often some Christians love to play God and judge people and tell this person or that person that they're going to hell or God doesn't love them as much as he loves them, which is extremely disgusting to me.

Even after becoming a Christian I still noticed that people judged me. When you become a Christian or identify as a Christian people now expect you to be this perfect person and that's not the case. A lot of people judged me for listening to cercular music, watching certain shows and being around certain people. Some Christians try to make it seem like God's love is conditional so if you do anything wrong you fall out of his favour and he stops loving you or loves you less.

It's disgusting how people love to make other people feel bad because they feel like they're better than you or higher up God's favour than you are which is not true. God loves us all equal and I am sick of the Christian shame and people sticking their noses where they don't belong. Any Christian that has the audacity to tell someone they're going to hell has no right to say they are Christian. That is not what Christianity is about at all.

Our main focus as Christians should be spreading the word, teaching people about our God and showing them the love and acceptance of God. I'm not saying we should encourage sin but we must remember to hate the sin and not the sinner. None of us is perfect except God, we have no right to judge anyone, only he can.

Christian shame is honestly the worst thing, we shouldn't shame people for their mistakes but instead help them where we can. It's disgusting seeing how some of my fellow Christians act, it gives us a bad reputation with non-Christians.
