"So have you ever injured this ankle before?" an annoyingly peppy nurse asked.
"No, I haven't," you plainly replied.
"So that's it for questions! I'll leave you here, and your boyfriend can stay here for now too!" she winked while talking. You and Bokuto weren't even dating, in fact he was the whole reason you were here in the first place.
As she walked out, you shot the boy a glare that could kill.
"What's wrong with you?" he sarcastically asked.
"Oh, nothing. Not that I'm at a hospital or anything. Or that my nurse thought we were dating, because we totally look like we are!" your voice was poisoness as you spoke, even causing the cheerful Koutarou to cringe.
"Please, calm your sass, I can only take so much at once," he sighed.
You rolled your eyes, mimicking him. He stuck his tongue out at you, earning an unstruggled laugh.
"Woah," he awed. "You laughed. And it didn't look forced."
"Oops," you simply said, smile slowly leaving your face.
"No," he commented. "It was nice, keep smiling. And maybe laugh some more, that was wonderful too."
You blushed slightly, but covered your face just before he saw it, thankfully. If this child-like boy knew that you displayed a small bit of affection toward him, oh dear. Things would get rather... awkward.
"Alright!" the doctor burst through the door. "You're clear to leave, as soon as we fit you with a brace that is."
"Oh..." you whispered. Did you even have enough for a brace? Wait. Did you even have enough for this doctor's visit?!
"I'll cover it," Bokuto volunteered.
"Okay! So let's go (Name), it shouldn't take that long," the doctor offered.
"Okay," you said, still awestruck at Bokuto's proposal to pay so quickly.
As soon as everything was settled and you were completely clear to leave, you let your questions loose.
"You didn't have to pay! Why did you?"
"Believe it or not, I assumed that you would panic at the realization of a bill, which I was right about, and I also have quite a bit of money, actually... My parents died when I was just fifteen and I guess I just got everything from them," he answered.
"Oh... I'm so sorry," you tried to sympathize.
"No don't worry! I'm over it by now, it's not a touchy subject anymore."
The rest of the car ride was filled by a peaceful silence. No words were exchanged, but they also didn't need to be. The silence was enough, and it was nice.
It did give you time to think though. And your thoughts scared you. They revealed your true feelings, and they told you things that you subconciously lied to yourself about. But ome thought stood out the most to you, because you hadn't realized until just now.
You were falling for Bokuto Koutarou.
