I shine my torch at her, and she crosses her trembling hands on her face. I bet she hasn't seen the light for days. Her eyes look confused, and I sense fear in her bewilderment.
"Who are you? Are you alright?" I ask her. She doesn't respond. Armed with caution, I go closer to her. I direct my torch away from her eyes so she can take off her hands.
"It's alright. I'm a friend. I just want to help," I repeat. She's small, only a little taller than Lennie, I predict. She seems young, almost my own age. Her face is ghostly pale, just like vampires, shining except for spots of dirt and mud. Her lips are thin, slightly parted as if to ask a question. Her dark hair is frank over her face and shoulders. Her clothes look decent, not torn or weathered, but just dirty.
She seems sane to understand my speech, but not too sane as I can tell. No blame, for no one can stay sane inside such a place. When I get close to her, she curls over herself and slides away from me.
"Don't worry. Just a friend. I swear I'm not going to hurt you."
Her small body is shivering both in cold and fear. I sit next to her, reassuring her again and again. She doesn't drift away. I take hold of her hand and find it cold, so I take off my jacket and drape it over her shoulders. She looks quite confused and bewildered, but she smiles a very faint smile of relief.
"Hey. I'm Newt. What's your name?"
"J-Julie. My name is Julie."
"And how long have you been here, Julie?"
"I-I don't know. A week, maybe."
"It's alright. You're safe now."
I hand her my flask and help her in drinking. Her hands are chained, which restrict her movement. "Slowly. Slowly," I whisper for her as she gulps the water. After that, I take out one of the apples I brought with me for snack. Her dark green eyes glisten for them. I wonder how long she has been without food. I take out my knife and cut a thick chunk for her. She grasps it with her hands like some precious treasure and shoves it in her mouth in one piece, caring to drink every single drop of the water that drops on her arms. Before she's done, I cut for her more.
I watch her as she munches. I concentrate in her face. Her look ignites something in my memory.
"Weren't you in Group B during WICKED's trials?" I ask her.
She looks down and freezes. After that, she slowly nods.
"How did you end up here, then?"
She shoves her dark hair to the side, showing me her neck.
The curse of the Glue. Again.
"I'm a crank too. I'm Group A's Glue," I answer.
She looks up at me with glistening, slightly sane eyes. I hand her the whole apple after I get tired of cutting. A thing I had learned from the trials is that when a person is hungry, he should eat his food slowly so he won't throw it all off. I leave her eat the whole thing.
"Why don't you come with me?" I tell her after she finishes her apple. "We can find something for you. Even some Bless can help."
She shakes her head and drifts away from me, he chains rattling as she moves.
"It's alright. I can get rid of those. You can come with me Julie. Here... this will help."
She moans and looks at me in a look where madness fights sanity. "Don't," she whispers in a shivering voice.
"It's fine. You're safe. No one can hurt you now, Julie. Julie, right? WICKED is over. They can do nothing to you."
"Newt, leave me. Please."
"It's-"
Suddenly, loud noise broke out of everywhere. Torch lights cross in from the tiny window up. Sounds of Helicopter and marching explode from up.
"Find him now. He couldn't have gone far!" shouts someone up. I look at Julie. She's shivering heavily like a demon has possessed her. Her hands are warm up, and her breath deepens. Her pupils widen and glisten as if in tears. "Newt, leave me now. Please. Get out!"
"You're coming with me," I reply, ignoring all that's going up. I search for the chain bonding her and break it. She crumbles more on the floor, hitting her forehead on her knees, locking her arms around her legs. I break her hands from each other and pull her up, but suddenly, I find her over me, her hands and long nails kneading in my face, her knees hitting in my stomach.
"Julie! Julie!" I cry, but she doesn't listen. "Julie! Please, Julie! Please. I am a friend-"
A ray of electricity lightens and its sound booms. Julie freezes, her dark, glimmering eyes locked with mine for a while. After that, she falls off me.
"From Four to base, we've found him."

Thanks for reading so far ;) See you soon, Gladers.
