We Shouldn't Have Come Here
Dean's POV
"Look Sam I don't think it was such a good idea to come here." Dean says as he paces up and down the B&B room floor.
"Dean, I'm sure Mary's fine." Sam says as he tries to watch TV from around his brother's form.
"How do you know that?" Dean says stopping right in front of the TV blocking Sam's view. Sam groans as he starts to get annoyed with his brother.
"Dean calm down, if something was wrong she would tell us." Dean runs a hand through his hair as he walks over to the bed and sets down beside his brother. Sam sighs as he turns the TV off and turns toward his brother, "Look I'm sure she's fine,"
"Yeah but you don't know that for sure do you Sam, she could be lying in a ditch somewhere for all we know."
"Look, we've all called her, even Bobby; and she texted us back saying she was following a lead. Now if you want to go out after her we can but your just gonna piss her off."
Dean clenches his jaw as he says, "Then I guess she's just gonna be pissed at me, cause I'm going after her."
Sam opens his mouth to argue but instead sighs as he says, "Alright, fine, let's go." Dean quickly grabs his leather coat as the two of them head out the door to the impala. As they drive through town they catch a glimpse of Mary walking into the bar with a man causing Dean's temper to flare. He quickly throws the car into park and jumps out of the driver seat rage clear on his face.
"Dean calm down!" Sam says as he grabs his brother and tries to drag him back to the car.
"Sammy, you better let go of me!"
"Or what you'll go in there and blow any chance you had of making up with Mary."
Dean grabs his brothers collar as he says, "Sammy, I'm warning you!"
"Dean, calm down. If you go in there right now you could put Mary in danger,"
Dean instantly releases his brother and still fuming kicks at the ground as he yells out, "Dammit!"
"Dean, we'll just wait here and if she needs us we'll help her. Okay?" Sam says as straightens his jacket.
"Fine, whatever!" Dean says as he stomps back to the impala and climbing inside starts breathing to calm his angers.
Sam looks back toward the bar as he walks back to the car says, "I hope you know what you're doing Mary." Dean instantly pulls his cell phone out and reaching over Sam's lap opens the glove box and pulls out a pair of headphones. "Dean," Sam says but instantly closes his mouth as Dean throws him a 'say it and die' look. Plugging the headphones in Dean turns up the volume until Metallica's 'Enter Sandman' fills his ears blocking all other noise out. Dean leans back in the seat and letting out a loud sigh starts humming along.
Sam rolls his eyes as he looks back toward the bar to watch for Mary. Dean lifts up his phone as if to change the song but instead starts going through his pictures. He smirks as he comes to his favorite picture of him and Mary. She was sleeping next to him; her arms wrapped him as if he would disappear from her side. He was gently placing a kiss on her forehead as she slept. Dean wasn't happy that Mary had decided to go off on her own but he knew if she needed him she would call. All of the sudden his phone started to ring. He quickly pulls the earphones out and answers it.
Dean- Mary?
Bobby – No it's Bobby ya idjit, why where's Mary?
Dean – She's in the bar following up on a lead.
Bobby – By herself?
Dean – Yeah, Sam didn't want us to break her cover.
Bobby – Good, she'd kill you if you went in there now. Just keep an eye on her and don't let her do somethin stupid. Another thing, this town of your's seems like there was some history about it.
Dean – Oh yeah?
Bobby – Yeah seems a boy and his dad were camping and came across the town about twenty years ago, something happened and the boy made it out the father was never seen again.
Dean – Well that's something odd.
Bobby – Yeah especially when the boy was sent to an asylum for saying stuff about the town being invisible.
Dean – Thanks Bobby, we'll look into it after we talk to Mary.
Bobby – Alright, just have her call me tomorrow.
Dean – Will do.
Then Bobby hangs up and Dean sighs.
"Everything okay?" Sam asks sensing the stress in his brothers' voice.
"Yeah, that was just Bobby. It seems about twenty years ago a kid and his dad went camping here; something happened dad goes missing and the boy is sent to an asylum for claims of a invisible town."
"That is weird." Sam says as he furrows his brow.
"Right, I don't know what we're looking for here." Dean says as he looks back toward the bar door.
"Me either, perhaps we can ask Cas?" Dean flashes Sam a don't go there look causing Sam to lift his hands up in defeat.
"The last thing we need right now is to bring him in on this."
"Dean, I know you're upset with him but we could use his help on this."
"NO Sam and that's the end of it."
"Fine, we'll just go in blind with one hand tied behind our back."
Dean turns toward his brother and lifting an eyebrow says, "Metaphors really, you pick now of all times to use a metaphor on me." Sam rolls his eyes as he looks past Dean to see Mary walk out the bar door with the same man she had entered with.
"Dean," Sam says as he points toward Mary. Turning to see them Dean waits until they disappear around the corner before jumping out and following after them, Sam a few paces behind. They follow closely behind as Mary and the mystery man walk through town.
"Where are they going?" Dean asks in a low voice.
"The Pier?" Sam says to his brother as he tilts his head in confusion.
They follow them until they see them stop on the deck and Mary looks around. "I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this is your ship." Mary says as she points to an old time sailing vessel.
The man smiles as he walks up the ramp leading to the ship and standing on the railing says out loud, "Welcome aboard the Jolly Roger, Mary Winchester."
Mary smiles as she runs up the ramp and onto the deck of the ship. Dean grits his teeth as he fights the urge to run after her. Then it hits him, the man had called her Mary Winchester. Dean smiles as the name sinks in. "Did he just call her Mary Winchester?" Sam asks as he turns to see his brother smiling.
Dean's smile brightens as he says, "Yeah, he did."
Sam smirks as he says, "Well that sure made you happy."
"Not gonna lie, it did." Dean says as he leans back against a building.
"I wonder why she didn't use her real last name." Sam says as he looks back toward the ship.
"Well I like Mary Winchester better than Mary Singer anyway." Dean says as folds his arms over his chest smiling like someone who had just won the lottery. Sam rolls his eyes as he turns back to see Mary walking down the dock toward them. "Dean," Sam says as he motions for Dean to listen.
"What are you doing?" The man says as he follows after Mary.
"I'm just going to enjoy the rest of this, and probably take a swim in the ocean." She says as she waves a bottle around.
"Mary that may not be the best idea?"
Dean watches as she downs the rest of the contents of the bottle and then throws it in a trash can as she turns back to the man and says, "Well mister Killian Jones, you're either gonna join or you can go back to your ship." Dean tenses as he notices that Mary is drunk.
"As much fun as that sounds, I think you're drunk."
"Smart move," Dean says as Mary turns and starts walking back toward Killian.
"I think you might be onto something." Dean hears Mary say and he drops his face in his palm. "Then why don't you join me?" Dean's head pops up, her comment getting his full attention, "Come on Killian, go swimming with me!" Mary says as she starts to sway.
"I think it's time you went home." Killian says causing Mary to laugh.
"That would be awesome, but I don't know where I am or rather where home is so I guess I'll just go sleep on the beach. I feel more at home when I can smell the saltiness of the sea anyway." Dean's heart clenches as he fights the urge to jump out and take Mary home.
"You can't just sleep on the beach." Killian says his face full of concern.
"Oh what a surprise another man telling me what to do, well guess what no matter how good looking you are, and believe me you're very attractive, I'm going to do what I want and that requires me to sleep on the beach." Dean looks down as he knows that is a stab at him.
"Ahhhh! What are you doing?" Dean hears Mary say and turns to see her lying over Killian's shoulder kicking her legs and thrashing her arms around. Sam quickly grabs his brother before Dean is able to make it over to them.
"Could you stop, I'd prefer not to look like I'm kidnapping you." Dean stops as he watches them.
"Are you?" He hears Mary say and waits for the man to reply anger coursing through his veins.
"No," Dean relaxes causing his brother to release him.
"Really because it sure seems like it."
"I'm not gonna be responsible if something happens to you."
"You might wanna put me down."
"Are you going to behave?"
"No I really mean you need to put me down."
"Not gonna happen love."
"Okay don't say I didn't warn you though."
"What are you..." His sentence is cut short as the sound of Mary vomiting fills the air.
Dean smirks as the man stops. "I told you to let me down. You should've listened."
After a brief pause he starts walking again. "Where are you taking me?"
"Back to my ship," Dean raises an eyebrow as he watches closely after them.
"Why?"
"Cause you hurled your breakfast down my back."
"I told you to put me down." Dean watches as she wraps her arms around Killian and says, "You're warm."
"Don't know if I should take that as a complement or,"
"You should, I think I'm gonna take a nap; I super tired."
"Wait don't you fall asleep!" he yells out but it's too late, Mary goes limp on his back. "Bloody hell!" He says as he walks back up the ramp.
Dean smiles as he pulls out his cell phone and calls the Sheriff.
Emma – Hello this is Sheriff Swan,
Dean – Yeah this is Agent Seager from earlier, I am actually looking for a friend of mine that went missing earlier this evening, last seen at the bar with a suspicious looking man in a pirates outfit.
Emma – I know exactly who it is I'll look into it.
Dean – Thanks Sheriff.
Dean closes his phone and turning back to his brother smiles smugly. Before Sam has the chance to reply he sees the Sheriff followed by a woman with short black hair. He quickly pulls Dean down to hide behind a car as Dean says, "That was quick."
Sam narrows his eyes as he says, "That was too quick."
They wait patiently until Dean's phone starts to vibrate. Dean quickly answers it,
Dean – Hello?
Emma – Agent Seager?
Dean – Yeah,
Emma – We found your friend she's drunk so I'm going to have her sleep it off and have her back to you in the morning.
Dean – Okay thanks Sheriff.
Emma – You're welcome.
As he hangs up the phone he turns to see the Sheriff pass him and a few seconds later the woman with short hair follows. He turns toward his brother and says, "This place gets weirder and weirder."
"Right?" Sam says as he looks at his brother. Dean nods then glancing back at the ship sees Killian walking down the pier. After he passes Dean and Sam make their way up the ramp and onto the ship. "Dean over here," Sam says as he opens the cabins quarters door to see Mary sleeping soundly on the bed inside.
Dean smiles as he closes the door and says "Come on Sammy," Sam follows his brother as they make their way down the street back toward the bar.
"Are you okay?" Sam asks as they slowly make their way.
"I don't know, but I'm not going to wake her. I'll ask her about it tomorrow after she's gotten some sleep." Dean says as he sticks his hands in the pockets of his jacket.
All the sudden the man walks out of a building almost running straight into them. "My Apologies," Killian says as he walks around them and heads back toward the pier.
Dean watches as he walks away and says, "What does she see in that guy?"
Sam chuckles as he says, "Dean are you jealous?"
Dean instantly turns back to his brother and hitting his arm says, "No,"
"Ow you jerk!" Sam says as he grabs his arm, "Bitch!" Dean says as he smiles and walks back to the Bar where his impala sat patiently.
Climbing in he leans his head back and lets out a heavy sigh. "Dean are you sure you don't wanna talk about it?" Sam asks as he climbs in the passenger side.
"Yeah Sam, I'm sure let's just get back to the B&B, the faster I get to sleep the faster I forget about all this." Dean says as he quickly drives back to the B&B.
After they reach the B&B they walk up to the room where Sheriff Swan and her short dark haired friend waited patiently. "Something I can help you with Sheriff?" Dean says as he and Sam walk into the room.
"Look there is something we need to talk about but I don't think it's gonna be hard to swallow." Sheriff Swan says as she folds her arms over her chest.
Dean looks at his brother before turning back to the Sheriff and saying, "And that would be?"
"We may have reason to believe your friend is a girl that disappeared about five years ago." The woman with short dark hair says as she stands next to the Sheriff.
Dean narrows his eyes as he says, "Why do you think Mary is your missing girl?"
"Their resemblances are uncanny, as is her love for the ocean."
Dean raises his eyebrow as he looks to Sam who replies, "How do we know if Mary is really your missing girl?"
"We'd like to speak with her once she wakes up if that's alright?"
Sam nods as he says, "Yeah, sure that'd be great. The sooner we find out the truth the sooner Mary finds out who she is."
The woman with short black hair smiles as she says, "Thank you, you don't know how much this means to us."
"No problem," Dean says as he fakes a smile.
After they leave Dean turns toward Sam and says, "Once Mary gets back we're leaving."
"What Dean we can't do that, what if she really is their missing girl?" Sam says as he turns toward his brother.
"Sam there is no way Mary is their missing girl, think about where we found her." Dean says as he grabs her backpack and quickly packs it.
"I know we found her in Kansas but it is possible that she was kidnapped and dumped there. Dean think about Mary, she would finally know who she is."
"I don't care!" Dean says as he tosses her bag to the floor.
"Dean, don't you think you're being selfish?" Sam says as he leans down and picks up Mary's bag.
"Sammy what do you think's going to happen if she is there lost girl? Huh, she'll find out who she is and that she has a home but she'll give that up to travel with us? I don't think so, I'm not losing her too."
"I'm not going to let you ruin Mary's chances to find out who she is!" Sam yells as he holds Mary's bag above Dean's head.
Dean grits his teeth as he says, "Dammit Sam you either help me or you stay here with her!"
"I'm staying. Mary deserves happiness." Dean grits his teeth as he grabs his bag and his keys and quickly making his way out to the car speeds off into the night.
Sam's POV
"Dammit Dean," Sam says as he walks over to the bed and pulling his cell phone out sends Dean a text. "When you calm down and start to think about what Mary deserves, we'll be waiting here for you." After he hits the send button he throws himself down on the bed and instantly falls asleep.
