Unlikely Reunion
I continue to walk back and forth up and down the beach until I notice the sun has started to set. "Crap!" I say as I quickly put my shoes back on and check my cell phone. "Wow, six texts and three voicemails; Why don't they get that want some alone time?" I say as I quickly read the texts and check the voicemail.
Texts:
Dean – hey where are you?
Dean – Mary this isn't funny you need to call us!
Dean – Come on babe text me back!
Sam – Hey where are you Dean's going postal?
Sam – You okay?
Sam – Mary?
Voicemails:
Dean – Hey Mary call me back okay?
Sam – Hey where are you Dean's freaking and not to freak you out but he called Bobby.
Bobby – Hey ya Idjit, you need to either call me or the boys back, you're freakin us out.
I sigh as I hang up the phone and look back out over the water. All of the sudden I hear a noise on the pier and turn to see a man walking toward town dressed in an old time pirate outfit. "There's something you don't see every day." I say as I pull my phone up to text Dean and Sam back when something catches my eye. Squinting my eyes I notice that he has a hook where his left hand should be and my interest perks. Following him I quickly send a mass text to Dean, Sam, and Bobby. 'Hey, I'm okay don't worry; I just lost track of time. I'll be back soon just following up on a lead.' I quickly send the text and hastily make my way up the pier and start sneakily following the mystery man with the hook.
I follow him through town and watch as he walks into a bar called 'The Rabbit Hole'. Biting my lip I quickly compose myself and sigh as I walk into the bar only to be pulled back out the front door by the very man I was following. He quickly pulls me to and alley and turning me around to face him say his English accent coming in thick, "Why are you following me?"
Jerking my arm out of his grasp I say, "I wasn't following you I was just going in the same direction you were."
He leans back as he says, "So you're trying to say that it was merely coincidence, that we were just two people with the same destination in mind?"
Sighing I look up at him and as I look into his oceanic blue eyes and find myself dumbstruck. "Yeah, a coincidence."
He tilts his head to the side and narrows his eyes as he says, "Do I know you?"
I shake my head as I say, "I think I'd remember a man with a hook on his hand."
He smirks as he glances down at his hook and says, "True, I'm not that easy to forget either. The name's Killian Jones; or of you like you could call me by my more colorful name, Hook."
I smile as I say, "Really, people actually call you hook?"
He nods as he says, "Some people find it easier to remember."
I nod as I say, "That may be true but isn't that a little mean? I mean wouldn't you like to be called Killian instead of Hook?"
He reaches up and placing his hook under his chin pretends to think then says, "I like Hook, it has a meaning behind it."
Nodding I say, "Well if you're okay with it then I guess it's all good."
He smiles down at me and I feel my legs try to give out from under me. "Well since we both had the pub in mind why not let me buy you a drink?" He says as he holds out his right arm for me to take. I smile as I reach around and take his left arm instead. His smile fades as a look of disbelief covers his face.
"What's wrong?" I say as I search his face for an explanation.
"People tend to find my hook a bit frightening."
I raise an eyebrow as I say, "I'm pretty sure there is a perfectly good explanation as to why you have a hook, and believe me your hook isn't the scariest thing I've seen."
He smiles as he says motioning toward the bar with his hand, "Shall we then?" Smiling I follow him inside the bar and to a booth in the back where we could be alone.
"I've told you my name, how about yours?" He says after he orders us a bottle of rum.
"Mary, Mary Winchester."
He smiles as he says, "Nice to meet you Mary."
I reach my left hand across the table and say when he reaches his hook up for me to take, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Jones."
He smirks as he says, "Not sure if I like being called Mr. Jones."
I raise an eyebrow as I say, "Fine how about I call you Killian?"
"If you must?" He replies bringing another smile to my face. I had to admit he looked even better in the light, his short messy black hair and pirate look worked well for him. I didn't know why but I felt comfortable with him like he was a long lost friend. "I do have one question though?" He raises an eyebrow and says as the waitress sets the bottle and a couple glasses down on the table, "And that would be?"
"This may seem like a personal question but; why are you dressed like a pirate?"
A smile fills his face as he says, "That would be because I am a pirate, but not just any pirate I'm a captain of a ship?"
I purse my lips as he pours the rum into the glasses and say, "Well then Captain Jones how about you prove it?"
He raises an eyebrow as he says, "If you are still willing after the bottle's empty then I will happily oblige."
I smile devilishly as I say, "You don't think I can keep up?"
"The thought had crossed my mind."
"Well Captain I will be more than happy to prove you wrong." I say as I lift my glass of rum up to him.
He smiles as he lifts his glass to mine as he says, "Cheers then."
"Cheers." I say as I bring the glass to my lips and take a long swig. Killian stares at me in surprise as he smiles and refills my glass.
We sit there for awhile as I listen to him tell me how he lost his hand and why he was in Storybrooke. "So you want revenge against the man that took your hand and your first love?" I say as drink a little more of the rum in my glass.
"Yes, I want him to feel the heartache and pain that he caused me."
I purse my lips as I say, "Not that I don't agree with your reasoning but I must say violence doesn't solve anything. If you were to kill this man wouldn't that just anger more people and cause a chain of effects that neither party would be able to stop?"
He leans forward onto the table as he says, "Where I'm from it's kill or be killed, he took my love from me it's only fitting I do the same to him."
Biting the side of my mouth I lean forward as I say, "Then how about I put it this way, what if you succeed in killing him then what will you do?" Killian opens his mouth to reply but then closes it and leans back in his chair as he ponders my words. I smile to myself as I reach over and taking the bottle pour what's left into my cup then reach over and pour some into his glass until our glasses are even.
"Why don't we talk about you now, what's your story?" He says as he quickly changes the subject.
"I don't have one, or if you want to put it literally then I don't remember mine."
He smiles as he says, "Has the Rum gotten to you?"
I shake my head as I say, "No, I have amnesia. I don't remember anything before about five years ago."
Raising an eyebrow he says, "So you don't remember anything? Then how do you know your name?"
I quickly down the rest of the rum in my glass and say, "I don't, Mary's not my real name."
"Then why do you call yourself that?"He says as he finishes the remaining rum in his glass.
I smile as I say, "I was lucky to be found by two very amazing people. They took me in gave me a place to sleep and even gave me their mother's name. If it wasn't for them I don't know where I'd be."
"These two sound like quite the pair."
"They are."
"Well it seems we've finished the bottle and you seem to still be quite sober so what do you say? You want to see my ship?"
I smile as I say, "Sure, lead the way."
He smiles as he stands and holds his hook out to me. I reach up and taking it smile brightly at him. As we leave the bar I look over to see Dean's impala parked in the parking lot and roll my eyes. I quickly turn my attention back to Killian and listen quietly as he talks about his ship. As we make it to the dock I look around and say, "So which one is it?"
He smiles as he says, "Oh you'll know it when you see it." I smile as I let him lead me to his ship.
As we reach the end of the dock I see an old time pirate ship and smile, "I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this is your ship?"
He smiles as he walks up the ramp leading to the ship and standing on the railing says out loud, "Welcome aboard the Jolly Roger, Mary Winchester." I smile as I run up the ramp and onto the deck of the ship. As I look around I start to feel at home and laugh as I run over up to the helm running my hand along the smooth wood of the railing. "What do you think Ms. Winchester?" Killian says as he walks up beside me.
I smile brightly as I say, "Why Captain you have a marvelous ship." I say as I admire the ship's beauty.
He smiles as he says, "I'm glad you agree." As I walk back down from the helm I run my hand across the smooth wood of the railing and smile as I look out over the sea.
As the wind blows over the ship I close my eyes and let the smell of the sea take me away. "Ariel Remember," a familiar voice says causing my eyes to fly open as I look around for the keeper of the voice.
"Are you alright?" Killian says as he nears me carrying what I guessed was a bottle of rum.
"I'm fine."
"Are you sure?" He says as he sets the bottle down on the railing and reaches up to gently lift my face up so he can look into my eyes. As his eyes meet mine I feel my heart start to flutter sending butterflies to my stomach. I feel heat rush to my cheeks and I instantly look away and grabbing the bottle, lift it to my lips and start downing it.
Killian laughs as he says, "Thirsty?" bringing the bottle down from my lips I set it on the rail as I cough as the Rum burns my throat.
"What... is... that?" I say as I try to breath.
"This, my dear is rum."
I tilt my head as I say, "That wasn't rum that was lava."
He laughs as he says, "It's very old rum."
I nod as I say, "No wonder it tastes so..."
"I take it you've had enough?" He says as he takes the bottle and lifts it to his lips. I quickly grab the bottle and move to the other side of the ship.
"I never said that my good Captain." I say as I take another drink my eyes' squinting as my body tries to get used to the rum.
He smiles as he walks over and taking the bottle from me says, "Don't hog the rum."
I smile as I look around at the contents of the ship and say, "You're lucky,"
"Come again?"
Running a hand through my hair I hoist myself up into the railing and say, "You're lucky,"
Raising an eyebrow he looks up into my eyes as he says, "How so?"
I look down at my hands as I say, "You know who you are and what you want. I only wish I was as lucky as you are."
I feel him lay his hand gently on my leg and I look at him to see a look of understanding cover his handsome face as he says, "Just because I know who I am and what I want doesn't mean I'm lucky. I actually envy you; I'd give anything to forget some events in my past."
I look up at the sky and sigh as I say, "That's what everyone tells me but; I just have the feeling that I have forgotten something important."
"Perhaps you have."
I clench my jaw as I try to hold back the tears that threaten to fall from my eyes. "I think I've had too much to drink, I'm telling you all this stuff about myself and I barely know you." I say as I quickly hop down from the railing.
"That's a good question, why are you telling me this?" He says causing me to turn toward him a confused look on my face.
"Excuse me?"
"Come now love don't play coy. Why would you tell your life story to a complete stranger? I know it's not because of my good looks."
I narrow my eyes as I say, "Honestly, I have no idea. I just, there is something about you that; I don't know feels familiar."
Killian raises an eyebrow as he says, "Well I can assure you we have not been acquainted before this night."
I sigh as my heart clenches in my chest, "Right, then if you will excuse me." I reach back over and taking the bottle walk over to the ramp and start walking down it.
"What are you doing?" He says as he follows after me.
"I'm just going to enjoy the rest of this, and probably take a swim in the ocean." I say as the rum starts to get to me.
"Mary that may not be the best idea?"
Downing the rest of the rum I toss the bottle in a trash can and turning back to him say, "Well mister Killian Jones, you're either gonna join or you can go back to your ship."
"As much fun as that sounds, I think you're drunk."
I smile as I turn and start walking back toward him. "I think you might be on to something."
When I reach him I reach up and laying my hand on his chest say, "Then why don't you join me?" His face flushes as he stares into my eyes. "Come on Killian, go swimming with me!" I say as the world starts to spin around me.
"I think it's time you went home." Killian says causing me to laugh.
"That would be awesome, but I don't know where I am or rather where home is so I guess I'll just go sleep on the beach. I feel more at home when I can smell the saltiness of the sea anyway."
"You can't just sleep on the beach." Killian says his face full of concern.
"Oh what a surprise another man telling me what to do, well guess what no matter how good looking you are, and believe me you're very attractive, I'm going to do what I want and that requires me to sleep on the beach."
As I finish my sentence I pat his chest and turning start to make my way to the beach. All of the sudden I am picked up and tossed over his shoulder. "Ahhhh! What are you doing?" I say as I kick my legs and thrash my arms around.
"Could you stop, I'd prefer not to look like I'm kidnapping you."
I freeze and narrowing my eyes say, "Are you?"
"No,"
"Really because it sure seems like it."
"I'm not gonna be responsible if something happens to you."
"You might wanna put me down."
"Are you going to behave?"
"No I really mean you need to put me down."
"Not gonna happen love."
"Okay don't say I didn't warn you though."
"What are you..." His sentence is cut short as the sound of me vomiting fills his ears. As he stops I feel his muscles tense beneath my body.
"I told you to let me down. You should've listened."
After a brief pause he starts walking again. "Where are you taking me?"
"Back to my ship,"
Raising an eyebrow I say, "Why?"
"Cause you hurled your breakfast down my back."
"I told you to put me down." I smile as I wrap my arms around his waist and say, "You're warm."
"Don't know if I should take that as a complement or,"
"You should, I think I'm gonna take a nap; I super tired."
"Wait don't you fall asleep!" he yells out but it's too late, my eyes close and the world falls away as a faint memory fills my mind.
