"Please! Bring back my family! I'll do anything!" A man begged to a woman with dark hair. He was clinging to a baby girl wrapped in a blanket. The girl wasn't breathing. The dark haired woman just glared at him.
"You know I can't, Jason. I'm sorry. I know how you feel. But I cannot intervene. That would be disobeying." Her face had no emotion at all. The man, Jason, fell onto his knees before her.
"Please. If you can't bring back Emily, Paige, and Aubrey, at least bring back little Sadie. She didn't deserve to go so soon! Please!" He begged, obviously desperate. His wife, Emily, had died, along with his three daughters, Paige, Aubrey, and his newborn child, Sadie. The woman remained emotionless.
"Jason. I can't. You know this. It would do you better to move on. I cannot afford to disobey. That would cause me to have to Fall." He glared at her.
"Come on Annemarie! They were your friends too! And would that really be such a bad thing? Having emotions and being human. We would take care of you! Please!" Annemarie sighed, thinking. There was a lot at stake for her if she agreed. Then again, her friend who had been good to her just lost his family. She could help him, but it was against the rules.
What should I do? She thought to herself. I could help him, but I would fall if I did! But he's been so kind to me... All of them have... Maybe it wouldn't be so bad... She finally decided what to do. She rubbed her forehead.
"Fine. I'll do it. On one condition." She said. Jason looked up at her.
"Name it!" He said.
"I can only bring back Sadie. I'm sorry. But I will stay with her and always protect her." Annemarie told him. He nodded vigorously.
"Of course!" He exclaimed. Annemarie took a deep breath and held out her hands. A white light came out of them and onto the little girl. When the light disappeared, Annemarie was gone and the baby was alive and breathing. Jason sighed. "Thank you Annemarie." He mumbled. "Thank you." But he was unaware of the hardships he and his daughter would face as the years passed by.
And he was unaware of the grief that his little girl would face throughout her life.
