The spirit's hair was so blonde it was nearly white, matching nicely with his creamy complexion. His eyes were hard and dark as they observed Jungkook, who had frozen in his spot, debating his next move. Yoongi's eyes were glued to the hunter, analyzing every slight twitch of his hand and every sway of his body as his heart thumped harshly in his chest.
Jungkook hadn't been prepared for a meeting with a rank two spirit, or any spirit for that fact. His hunter instincts were seemingly lagging and it alarmed him. He was usually so quick witted and decisive in sticky situations but just this one time, he was frozen and hesitant. He had only dealt with one other rank two before, and the experience had traumatized the young boy. He was around the age of seven years old, out on a hunt with his parents at their vacation resort, when they encountered the rank two. It was a female spirit with black hair that reached out past her shoulder blades and swayed in the humid summer air around the resort. Blood flowed out of her light green eyes like mini replicas of the Niagra Falls, and her screams echoed through Jungkook's head. It was a far more terrifying than what most seven year old children had to deal with. That night, he couldn't sleep. The spirit was haunting his thoughts, keeping his eyes wide open in fear as he laid alone in his bed in a cold sweat.
"Why are you here?" Jungkook asked the spirit, trying to regain some of his composure. Yoongi's lips stretched into a thin, closed mouth smile. He pretended to mull over the question he had been asked, all the while, his eyes stayed on Jungkook.
"Well, I suppose, I just need a place to stay," Yoongi said sarcastically.  Jungkook gulped, suddenly remembering they couldn't leave their place of death.
"Oh," he muttered. Yoongi knew Jungkook was a hunter. Everything about him screamed 'I capture spirits!' but at the moment, Jungkook was reduced to a shy, muttering little boy of age seven with fear in his eyes and heart. Yoongi was eating it up.
"I think," the spirit began, taking a step closer to Jungkook.
"The better question is, why are you here?" He asked, emphasizing the 'you'. Jungkook felt as if he would break a nervous sweat soon, if he didn't get out of the attic quickly. He looked around the spirit, to the exit and decided his best bet would be to ease his way closer without alerting the spirit.
"I actually just got bored and wanted to know what was up here since my cousin wouldn't let me snoop earlier," Jungkook said and scooted slowly closer. Yoongi grinned at Jungkook's honesty. He had heard the conversation between Eun Kyung and Jungkook earlier that day, and was surprised Jungkook had chosen to be truthful.
"Is that so?" Yoongi asked, taking a step closer to Jungkook. Jungkook was beginning to panic as Yoongi moved in on him more and more every time he scooted closer to the exit.
"Hey, Yoongles, I have a-" A deep, raspy voice cut itself off as it's owner peeked their head in through the entrance and caught sight of Jungkook. Taehyung gaped at the sight and asked, "Is that a hunter?"
His tone was incredulous and surprised. He hadn't seen a hunter in years, ever since their numbers began mysteriously diminishing.
Yoongi nodded in confirmation and beckoned Taehyung to come into the small attic. Jungkook vaguely wondered if there was even enough room for all three of the males the be in the room, but he kept his thoughts to himself. He gulped one big time and stepped boldly away from Yoongi.
"Alright, well I think I've overstayed my welcome here," he said. Yoongi grinned and Taehyung joined the two males with a quizzical look.
"So what, are you gonna suck us into your little hunter vacuum thing?" Taehyung asked. Yoongi rolled his eyes harshly at his friend and said,
"He's a hunter, not a ghostbuster, Tae."
Jungkook was mildly surprised at the silly question Taehyung had asked, and the equally silly way Yoongi had responded. The two spirits were completely different from that first rank two spirit Jungkook had seen, but he still felt uneasy in their presence.
"I know that, but like, I haven't seen a hunter in a while, I don't remember what they do," Taehyung responded. Jungkook took the slight distraction that Taehyung had provided to take another bold step toward the exit. For it to be such a small room, it was taking him forever to make it out of it.
"Hey, you don't wanna hurt us, do you?" Taehyung asked. He seemed so innocent but Jungkook was nearly positive that the spirit had evil lurking beneath his cutesy exterior. It wasn't until he took a better look at Taehyung that he realized...
"Hey, are those Eun Kyung's clothes?"

The sound of crying from downstairs stopped Taehyung from answering the Hunter's question. It was soft crying but it seemed loud in the quiet of the echoey house.
"Kitty!" Jungkook exclaimed and moved as if to run off to his cousin, but Yoongi and Taehyung had already ran ahead of him, dropping to the downstairs level immediately and racing to Eun Kyung's bedroom.
She was still sleeping heavily, but was obviously in distress as broken sobs escaped her throat. Taehyung and Yoongi separated, moving to each have their own spot on either side of Eun Kyung's bed, while Jungkook ran in and stood at the foot.
"Don't you dare hurt her," he warned the spirits harshly. His fear from before had dissipated as his fear of Eun Kyung being hurt overruled it.
Yoongi's large, pale hand reached out toward Eun Kyung at the same time as Taehyung's, and Jungkook jumped as if to stop them, but Yoongi turned a cold, hard glare onto the hunter that stopped him in his tracks. Jungkook felt paralyzed by the immense fear the eyes of the spirit had put into him. He watched helplessly as the two spirits laid their hands on his cousin's head. Yoongi's hand caressed one side of Eun Kyung's face while Taehyung's hand caressed the other side. Slowly, Eun Kyung's sobs ebbed away until the only sound in the room was her peaceful breathing. Jungkook wasn't sure what had happened, but part of him would've thought they'd sucked his cousin's soul from her body if it hadn't been for the push and pull of her chest showing her breath.
"What d-did you do?" Jungkook asked. He despised how weak he sounded, he had never been so affected by anything, he couldn't believe he was truly letting the rank two spirits to turn him into a bumbling mess of a hunter.
"We took away her nightmares," Taehyung said, his deep voice sounding softer than before. Jungkook had heard stories about the powers rank two spirits possessed but he'd never seen any of them in action until that moment.
"So you can... Take away nightmares?" He asked. Yoongi rolled his dark eyes and slipped his hand away from Eun Kyung.
"We can, but you can't tell her about this or the nightmare will come back to her tenfold," he said. His voice sent shivers down Jungkook's spine. The act of taking the scary dreams away from a person seemed so innocent and kind, but Jungkook was still so convinced of the evil that lurked behind the soft exterior the two spirits were showing.
"What do you have to gain by being nice to my cousin?" He asked. Yoongi and Taehyung glanced at each other for a split second before Yoongi decided he'd be the one to answer.
"We never said we had anything to gain, but even if we do, it's none of your business, hunter," he said. Yoongi spat the word hunter out like a curse, and to him, it was. Jungkook sat on the edge of Eun Kyung's bed, feeling confused. He watched quietly as the two spirits disappeared out of the doorway, most likely going back up to their attic, with a stoic face. It was in that moment that he decided he would get stronger and protect Eun Kyung no matter what.
