Surprise Sick Sammy

Here is the special chapter that was voted for, I am so beyond sorry it took so long to get up. I was super busy, and kept getting writer's block when I was free. I hope this chapter is enjoyable! As long as you know who Jack is, you're golden!

Dean woke up early, got ready, and started making coffee, before looking around in surprise that Sam wasn't up yet. He figured oh well, he must have needed the extra sleep, and left his giant brother alone, as he sat down to work on stuff on Sam's laptop.

Hours ticked by, and he was starting to wonder where his brother was. So he got up to go check on him when Sam emerged from the hallway, looking ghost white with bedraggled hair and rumpled clothes.

Sam stumbled into the hallway, almost too dizzy to see straight. All he knew was he didn't feel well at all, and he needed his big brother to fix it somehow. As cheesy and cliched as that seemed.

He could barely breathe through his nose, his head was killing him, his stomach ached and was bloated, and he felt like his chest was burning like he'd run a marathon. He had felt okay ish this morning, but the symptoms had hit hard and fast, and now he was miserable as all get out.

Dean took one look at his brother and sighed softly, before pulling his taller brother into a protective hug. "You okay, Sammy?" He asked gently, putting his hand on Sam's forehead then cheek, eliciting a moan each time.

Sam shook his head slowly, as that kind of movement made the room spin edgily. "M dizzy, need to sit down, before i fall." He warned Dean, as he could feel the darkness closing in on his vision.

Dean quickly grabbed a chair and guided Sam to sit in it, as the younger man went limp and lost consciousness. "Sam!" He yelled, pulling Sam's head forward and clapping his hand on the man's cheek roughly a few times, trying to wake him up, to no avail.

He knew he should be worried that Sam was unresponsive, but he had a feeling that the raging fever he felt brewing under his big little brother's skin was the cause of it. He ran into the kitchen, grabbed some ice packs, filled some extra bags of ice, and grabs some towels to protect Sam's skin. He then ran back out to the living room area, and started to place the ice packs around Sam's body, wrapping towels around the ice packs that would potentially touch his brother's bare skin.

"Gotta get your temp down, Sammy boy." he mumbled to himself, not caring if he looked like an idjit.

Jack walked into the room exactly as Dean said this to no one. "What are you doing?" he asked curiously, as he watched Dean intently.

Dean jumped, reaching for the half-filled coffee mug on the table, since he didn't have a knife or gun on him, until he realized it was just Jack and visibly relaxed.

"I'm trying to lower his temperature without forcing him into an icebath. Don't sneak up on me, next time I might end up shooting you." he warned darkly.

"That won't harm me, Dean." Jack said calmly, rolling his eyes for emphasis. "Why do you need to cool Sam down?" he asked thoughtfully, observing the ice and ice packs that were melting and warming up.

"He has one hell of a fever, that I need to bring down." Dean explained gently, as he bent in half towards Sam, searching the younger man's face for signs of alertness.

Jack watched on curiously, as Sam frowned deeply and started to wake up.

Sam stirred and opened his eyes, blinking a few times as his vision was mighty blurry, which only served to confuse him further.

"What happened?" he asked, his voice breaking slightly, due to the sore throat and the fever. He looked around in shock, as his teeth started chattering. "Why... am... I... s...so cold...?" he asked, shaking so hard he was barely coherent.

"Easy, easy.... You have ice packs on you. You had too high a fever." Dean said gently, lowering his voice into a soothing tone.

Sam was shivering so hard, he looked like he was shuddering or almost seizing, but he wasn't quite seizing. "M... too... cold...." he stammered in a uncomfortable voice, as he couldn't even shift, due to where the bags were placed.

"Jack, get his blanket off his bed." Dean instructed, as he started rapidly removing the ice packs and bags of melting ice fron his brother's shaking frame.

Jack disappeared and reappeared with Sam's blanket, figuring the faster travel would be better. He handed it to Dean, before stepping back out of the way, ready if Dean needed his help again.

Once the bags and packs were gone, Dean wrapped the blanket around Sam tightly. "Can you get me the first aid kit? Its in the main bathrooms." he explained to Jack, hearing the kid appear and disappear, and place the kit on the table. "Thanks, Jack." he said.

The kid nodded and stepped back, before sitting down at the table, still at an easy angle to get up, but not uncomfortable at all.

Dean opened the kit, felt for the thermometer that they had recently splurged on that goes on the forehead temp, instead of under the tongue or in the ear. He lined it up and pressed the button, and waited for the robotic voice to say the temperature.

"101.1," the robotic voice said, with a beep, that caused Sam to flinch slightly.

"Not horrible, but not pleasant, let's get you medicated, so you can rest in your bed." he said gently, looking at Sam in concern, who looked a bit green and disoriented. "You okay, Sammy?" he asked, unable to hide his concern, which sparked Jack's concern too.

Sam shrugged slightly. "Kinda. Feel nauseous and dizzy." he admitted, as his head listed to the side a bit. "Really dizzy." he added, as he tried to lift his head, but he appeared unable to.

Dean's heart dropped to his stomach, as he realized that Sam was sicker than he originally thought. "Let's see what we can do about that dizziness." he said simply, as he turned and searched the kit for what he hoped they had.

He found multiple meds that he was looking for, left the room to grab a bucket and a glass of ginger ale, and returned with what he needed for his little brother.

"Here you go, Sammy. Cold medicine for your cold symptoms, dramamine/ meclizine for your dizziness and nausea, and one extra tylenol to make sure you're good and medicated, and feel all better." Dean said handing Sam a cuppy of liquid and two pills.

Sam took all the meds Dean recommended, with a bit of difficulty, as his head was still facing the one left side more than he could help it. He spilled some of the water, but thankfully not any of the meds.

Dean wordlessly wiped up the water and Sammy with the corner of his shirt, before pulling Sam's arm over his shoulders and lifted him from the chair. He grunted softly, as Sam basically sagged heavily against him.

"Jack, help me with his other side, we need to get him to his bed and not by flying." he explained, becoming increasingly more breathless the longer he had to hold Sam up entirely on his own.

Jack jumped to his feet, and moved to Sam's side, lifting Sam's other side with some difficulty. "Ready?" he asked, his voice a bit strained.

Dean nodded, choosing not to waste the energy on talking, as they worked together and half dragged, half hoisted Sam back to his bedroom, and laid him down on his bed.

"Thanks, Jack, I really appreciate your help." he said to the kid, before turning to look at Sam. "Rest, Sammy, you'll feel better after some rest." he said, tucking Sam in, and leaving to grab a tablet and returned with a chair to keep a vigil over his brother.

When Sam woke up the next morning, he felt marginally better, and smiled when he saw not just Dean asleep at his beside but Jack sitting there with his headphones and laptop. He realized he had a great support system that cared for him, right there.
