Let's Do This

Sitting there, your legs propped up on Dean's lap, you laid your head back on the edge of the couch, moaning as he rubbed your aching feet. "Um, yeah Dean. That's perfect." You mumbled, enjoying the foot massage more than you had ever thought possible.

"Hey guys, um..." Sam stared. "Never mind, it can wait." He muttered, never actually coming into the room.

"He must have heard your moans and thought something else was going on." Dean chuckled, pressing against a tender spot on your foot.

"He should know better. After all, I'm the size of a beached whale!" You exclaimed, rubbing your extremely swollen belly. Your due day had come and gone, and you were about ready to scream.

Never in this lifetime had you expected to be pregnant, about ready to give birth to your own little girl. Growing up in a hunting family, you had made yourself a promise you would never subject a kid to that kind of torture. But then Dean had come along, the two of you two halves of a whole. He was your everything, and before you knew it, your whole life had been turned upside down.

"And you're still the prettiest girl in the world." Dean assured you, swinging your legs off his lap so he could stand up. "Now if the second prettiest girl in the world would finally decide to make an entrance, I would be a very happy man."

"I never thought I'd see the day." You stated, stopping him in his tracks.

"What day sweetheart?" He asked you.

"The day Dean Winchester would become all soft and ready to raise a daughter." You said softly. While he was still the voracious hunter you knew and had first fallen in love with, he had changed over the course of your pregnancy. Just as much as you had, if not more. Gone were the late-night drinking binges, the all-nighters at the bar. Sure, he still kicked back the beers and the whiskey, even though you glared at him each time because you couldn't join in. But he was also happier than you had seen him in a long time. A kindness around his eyes that hunting had never let show up before.

"I am not soft!" He argued, crossing his arms across his chest.

"Not really. But there are parts of you that have changed. Dean, you were just rubbing my feet. And you have bought every stuffed animal the store carried. Those are things I call turning soft." You argued, not trying to make fun of your amazing man. But pointing out that he can be the tough hunter while maintaining a soft side at home.

"She's my daughter!" What do you expect me to do? Buy her guns and knives?" He answered back, sitting down in the chair across from you, ready to continue this argument.

"Dean, I'm not saying anything bad!" You insisted. "I just wanted you to know how much more I've fallen in love with Dean Winchester, the man ready to raise a daughter."

"I'm not ready." He answered quietly, squeezing his hands tight together. "I'm actually freaking out. I've never been more scared of anything. Not even going to hell scared me as much as raising a little girl is scaring me right now."

The pressure against your belly that had been bugging you all day, along with the lower back ache both suddenly hitting you hard. Groaning, you placed a hand on your belly, trying to get comfortable. "Y/N?" Dean asked, moving to stand up from his chair, but with a wave of your hand, you had him sitting back down again.

"It's nothing." You insisted, not wanting to worry him. He had just been baring his heart to you. "Dean, you know you're going to be an amazing father, right?"

He shrugged his shoulders. "But I'm still in the life. We live in a bunker. I had promised never to do that to a kid, and yet, here I am, about to become a Dad!"

"It will all work out. One step at a time." You told him, slowly rolling your body off the couch, feeling this weird sensation in your lower belly, before a trickle of liquid ran down your legs. "But as for the first step, I think our daughter finally wants to be born."

Dean leaned back in his chair for a moment, his eyes huge as he wrapped his mind around what you had just said. "We're having a baby?"

"No, I'm getting ready to have a baby." You muttered, pressing a hand to your lower back. "Now, can we get Sam and head to the hospital?"

"Let's do this!" He answered excitedly, clapping his hands together before rushing over to find his brother. Seconds ticked by before he came back, helping you down the hallway, yelling for Sam the entire time.

Somehow, the three of you made it into the Impala, Sam riding in the backseat for once while you clung to Dean's hand. Driving even faster than normal, Dean sped through the streets, honking at those who deemed to get in his way.

Arriving at the hospital, Dean had taken you with him, letting Sam park the car. Soon, the two of you were separated, even though you didn't want him to leave your side.

It was sometime later a nurse showed him into your room. Your contractions were getting closer and closer together, and you knew your baby girl was ready to be in this world. Holding his hand the entire time, you were surprised that his bones weren't broken. Never once complaining, he kept brushing the hair back from your forehead, whispering reassurances in your ear.

It seemed forever before the wailing of your baby girl filled the air. After quickly cleaning her up, she was handed to you, Dean standing at the side, glancing down with an awed expression. "You did it. You actually did it. I'm so proud of you sweetheart." He mumbled against your hair, before pressing a kiss to your temple. "She's so freaking perfect."

"She is." You answered, still a little scared and awestruck to be holding your new little girl in your arms. Carefully you held her up, to Dean, who looked at you in shock. "She's your daughter too. Hold her."

Taking a deep breath, Dean took his daughter in his arms, staring down at her with so much love in his gaze it brought tears to your eyes. "Hey there." He whispered, running his finger along the peachy smooth skin of her cheek. "It's your daddy."

"I can't believe it. We have a daughter." He whispered, glancing at you.

"Yep. A daughter who already has her Dad wrapped around her little finger." You chuckled exhaustedly.

"I don't care. She's my little girl, and nothing bad is ever going to happen to her." He stated.

When the nurse took your daughter to the nursery, you reached over, grabbing Dean's hand. He was settled in the seat next to you, a happy smile on his face. "Dean, I love you. And thank you for this. I never expected to be a Mom, and without your love and support, we wouldn't be here today."

"Sweetheart, you mean the world to me." He answered, pressing a kiss to your hand.
