Chapter 37

The dark mist crept closer and closer, as the Maximoff siblings walked closer to the camp. It slowly turned into the same terrible black snake.

"Hey, Peter!" Kat yells, waving her bag of goodies.

"Kat, Kat behind you!" Peter Parker yells, and the snake reared back and struck.

Black.

Then, suddenly, a memory resurfaces. It's Wanda's.

"Wanda-Landa-Manda-Wanda!"  A little Katriana babbled, hugging Wanda's leg. Wanda beamed at her little sister, as she and Pietro held the little girl's hand, heading off back home. Back home, the 3 raced up the stairs, before Wanda unlocked the door, and Pietro and Kat flew into the room, laughing in glee.

Then another memory, of a bomb landing smack-middle of the kitchen table.

Then another, of a small, disfigured body wheeling by her cell. Not Kat, but Wanda's screams evidently showed that she thought it was her dear sister's body.

Another memory, but this time Pietro's.

The bomb had just landed in front of him and Wanda, and Kat's loud cries could be heard, but Pietro had to be brave for both his little sisters.

Being separated from his sister', finding them again, but with Hydra.

Years of listening to people scream, then stop and wondering if it was his sisters who just died.

His own torture. His own regret.

Then, Katriana's memories.

A little girl sat by another little black girl, as the two of them stared at their meager meal.

"You know, they are trying to starve one of us, right?" The little girl asked Kat.

"Yes, but we won't let them, Milly. Won't we?" Kat smiles, breaking the small piece of bread in half and taking a small sip of the water, and handing it to Milly.

"Yeah."

The next day, Milly was on the cart of dead people, and Kat was moved to another cell, with another cellmate.

When the Red Room girls came along, Kat was also forced to fight to the death, and before she knew it, killed someone, and her cellmate's neck was snapped.

Cellmate after cellmate, until Kat was sure she was the only one left in HYDRA. Her brother and sister must be long gone. She was hungry. So hungry. Especially thirsty. Wanda and Pietro would've gotten her some water. She was then dragged out of the cell, eyes blank, and body weak.

The 3 came to, and looked at each other, before embracing. A small cough was heard behind them.

"I'm sorry," Gamora says. "I wouldn't want to know what you faced during your younger years, but you have my respect, for surviving."

"Don't be. It was our fault." Pietro replies, picking up the bags of food. "Come on, let's eat."

Wanda and Kat picked up their own bags, walking inside the destroyed house. They would talk about their time in HYDRA, but not now.
