Chapter 13
The next morning, I walk toward school, meeting up with Gwen and Harry, before walking in the school.
"How's the, y'know, calling been going?" Harry asks, and yeah, they do know I'm trying to get in touch with Wanda, but I trust them, and so far nothing's happened.
"She hasn't responded yet. I'm probably going to give up soon, she's definitely not going reply. I don't even know what gave me the notion to even try." I sigh, defeated.
"Come on! Maybe she's just listening to your voicemails!" Gwen reasons.
"I just don't wanna talk about it right now." I sigh.
"Alright then. Do you know if Cindy's gay or bi? Maybe even pan?" Gwen asks.
"No! I haven't asked." I say, surprised at the sudden change.
"Kater! Kater!" Harry screeches, earning a load of looks.
"Shut it, Harry! Peter's literally head over heels for Liz!" I sigh.
"MY SHIP WILL PREVAIL!" Harry yells.
"Ugh." I groan. The bell rings and we part ways, walking into History class. Joy. I sit down next to MJ, and we start passing notes to each other.
"The Sokovia Accords were put into place to begin regulating..." The history teachers starts, and I freeze a little. Jesus woman, can't you choose something a little more, I don't know HISTORYISH? I sigh, putting my head on the desk, as MJ looks at me sympathetically.
"Ms. Maximoff. I'm sure you know lots about the Accords, as you have experienced this first hand. Why don't you tell us about the Accords?" She asks.
"There's nothing to tell," I mutter.
"Are you sure about that?" She asks again. "Why did you sign?"
"I signed because I was made too, so I could stay in school." I snap.
"Well, what side would you have chosen?" She presses.
"Steve's side. Everyone thinks I'm just a freak because of my past choices and powers. Well, spoiler alert, maybe I am, but I'm trying to change, and they were going to throw me in a jail cell any other way. If Tony wasn't here, then I would probably be 6 feet under." I finally blow up, and I glare at the teacher.
"No talking back Ms. Maximoff." She merely said.
"I was just answering your question. That's how a conversation works." I snark and the class oohed.
"Principal's office now!" She shrilled, pointing at the door. I jump, collect my stuff and gladly leave.
"Uh, Kat." I turn around to see Liz awkwardly standing near the door.
"Oh, hey Liz." I nod.
"I heard the entire thing. Not many people would tell her off that's for sure." Liz says.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm sure anyone would do it." I shrug.
"Not a lot. Hey, why don't you come to my party tonight?" Liz asks.
"Really?" I raise my eyebrow.
"Definitely!" Liz nods.
"Alright then. I better get to the office now." I wave.
"Bye. See you tonight." Liz waves back.
"See you then." I say.
I walk into the office, and Ms. Candor, the office lady looked up rather boredly, and pointed wordlessly to Principal Morita's door.
"I understand the problem of the Accords with you." Principal Morita starts.
"I guess. I was just answering her question though... with a tiny bit of sass." I say.
"I know it's a touchy subject for you, but try to ignore it. Your next class is in 5 minutes. Better get there." I stand up and leave to gym class.
~Cut to Gym~
A small, old television is set up beside Coach Wilson, the PE teacher, who is standing with a bored expression. Captain America's Fitness Challenge is playing on the screen. Captain America, in his full uniform, smiles pleasantly, standing in a locker room. I snort quietly, sitting next to MJ, Ned and Peter. When I see him again, he'll never live it down.
"Hi. I'm Captain America. Whether you're in the classroom or on the battlefield..." Steve starts. We're sitting in neat rows on the bleachers, watching Captain America give a speech on screen. I look to MJ and her book. "...fitness can be the difference between success or failure. Today, my good friend, your gym teacher..." Steve points to his right. Coach Wilson, who is standing on the wrong side, waves his hand to the students. "...will be conducting the Captain America Fitness Challenge." He raises his hand in a salute. The screen transitions to 'Station I: Sit-ups'.
"Thank you, Captain. I'm pretty sure this guy's a war criminal now, but whatever. I have to show these videos. It's required by the state. Let's do it." Coach Wilson starts, as he blows his whistle.
We're engaged in various exercises. Climbing ropes, doing chin-ups, push-ups, and other stuff. MJ and I are lying on a mat by ourselves, as MJ continues her book.
"Peter knows Spider-Man!" Ned yells in a loud voice. I look up, mortified. Ned found out. Peter looks at Ned, shocked. Everyone in the gym simultaneously drops their assignments and stares at Peter. He hurriedly gets up and walks to the bleachers. Ned quickly scrambles to his feet to follow him.
"No, I don't. No. I... I mean..." Peter starts stuttering and I have to hide a blush. Goddamnit why does he have to be so cute!
"They're friends." Ned adds.
"Yeah, like Coach Wilson and Captain America are friends." Flash snorts.
"I've met him. Yeah. A couple times. But it's, um... through the Stark internship. Mm-hmm." Peter struggles to form words. "Yeah, well. I'm not really supposed to talk about it."
"Well, that's awesome. Hey, you know what? Maybe you should invite him to Liz's party. Right?" Flash says.
"Yeah, I'm having people over tonight. You're more than welcome to come." Liz says.
"Having a party?" Peter eeps out.
"Yeah, it's gonna be dope. You should totally invite your personal friend Spider-Man." Flash mocks.
"Um..." Peter starts.
"It's okay. I know Peter's way too busy for parties anyway, so..." Liz shrugs.
Flash saunters closer to Peter. "Come on. He'll be there. Right, Parker?"
The bell buzzes. Tilting her head toward Peter in a tiny nod of farewell, Liz walks off. Peter, frustrated, throws his hands in the air and swivels to glare at Ned.
"Well, this all went to shit quickly." I sigh loudly, before standing up. "MJ, you coming?"
"Hm?" She looks up.
"Nevermind. See you at Liz's party." I shake my head.
~Le time ship brought to you by Harry Osborn's love of Kater~
"No, no, no." I mutter, throwing clothes against the wall.
"KitKat, what's up?" Tony asks.
"Nothing. I am just going to a party." I say, picking up a scarlet dress that belonged to Wanda. "Just picking an outfit for a party."
"Alright. You need me to drive?" Tony asks.
"Nope." I say, popping the p.
"Okay. See you later." Tony leaves my room, closing it.
"Bye." I pick up the dress again. I hang it up carefully, not wanting to distrub the fabric. Wanda still might want it. I pick up a bundle of clothes and decide to change into them.
(Ze outfit)
I stare in wonder. Wow. I giddly run out of the compound, and fly out to the nearest bus stop. 15 year old me looks pretty cool. I wait for the bus that would take me closest to Liz's and I put up my hair quickly into a hasty ponytail. Party here I come!
