Looking back on your days in high school, your most fond memories were with your frenemy and class clown, Andy Gallagher. Out of all the people in your grade, you seemed to always be Andy's target. You prided yourself in your good grades and excellent resumé. You had a 4.0 GPA, a part of the school's soccer team, orchestra, student government, and dance team. You were what teachers called a "model student."

Gallagher on the other hand was... the complete opposite. Detention and the principal's office were basically his second homes. One thing that always bothered you was, no matter how much he got into trouble, he always seemed to find a way out of it. Yeah, he was a trouble maker and rarely did any work, but he still managed to get good grades.

The first time you truly got to know Andy, was both the best and worst day of your life. It was sophomore year when you were in your third period class, trigonometry. Most of the teachers in the school you had already been acquainted with, but this one was new.

"Hello class, my name is Mr. Collins and I will be your trigonometry teacher for the year. This may my first year teaching here, but I've been teaching for a while," the man introduced, adjusting his glasses, "So don't think you can break me easily. I know normally you choose your seats, but I've given you a seating chart."

He pointed to the white board, where the projector showed the seating arrangement. Normally, you sat front and center, but as you took a look at the chart, you realized he put you all the way in the back... right next to Andy. Immediately, you walked up to Mr. Collins. "Um sir... I see you've placed me in the back of the classroom. I usually prefer to sit in the front, it helps me focus more."

"Mhm. What's your name?" He asked.

"(Y/N) (L/N), sir," you smiled.

He looked down at the clip board in his hand. "Ah, (Ms./Mr.) (L/N). Yes, I've heard a lot about you from the staff."

Your smile grew, knowing your great reputation would help you get on his good side. "I hear you are one of the top students. Excellent grades and behavior all around."

"Thank you sir. Now you see about the seating—"

"—Don't interrupt me, (Ms./Mr.) (L/N)," he snapped. "Just because you have a good reputation among other teachers here, does not mean I will give you any special treatment. This seating chart was made at random and I cannot change it to fit to one student's standards unless it interferes with their health. Understand?"

"But sir I can't—"

"Do you understand?" He repeated sternly.

"Yes sir, I understand," you said reluctantly turning away to walk to your seat. As you took your seat, you caught a glimpse of the mischievous smirk on Andy's face.

"Look, I want to warn you, all your little pranks aren't going to work with me okay?" You scowled at him. "I'm just hear to learn and I'm not letting you distract me."

"(Y/N), do you have something you want to share with the class?" Mr. Collins said aloud.

"No sir," your cheeks reddened and you sunk further into your seat in shame. Andy couldn't help but laugh.

"You've got nothing to worry about (Miss/Mister) Goody Two-Shoes," he whispered.

As class went on, surprisingly Andy was true to his word and left you alone. "Alright class, I'm giving you a quiz before you leave. Don't worry, this won't count towards your grades. I just want to see where everyone is at," Mr. Collins announced.

Once the quizzes were handed out, you started working. "Psst..." You weren't sure if your ears were playing tricks on you or not but you ignored the sound.

"Pssst," you heard the sound again. "Psst!"

Finally, you turned to your side, realizing the sound was coming from Andy. "What?!" You whispered hoarsely.

"What did you get for number four?" He asked.

"Are you kidding me?!" You were so angry that this time your words didn't come out as mere whispers.

Mr. Collins eyes widened in shock. "Really (Y/N)? Talking during a quiz?"

"It wasn't my fault!"

He shook his head in disdain. "I expected so much more from you. I'm sorry but you and Mr. Gallagher have detention."

"But please sir, you don't understand!"

"(Y/N), I suggest you be quiet and finish your quiz, or else I'll send you to the principal for this behavior."

"I'm sorry sir," you sighed, focusing back on your paper.

~Afterschool~

It took you a while to find where detention was held, considering this was the first time a teacher's ever sent you to it. You didn't know what to do; you weren't sure if you wanted to cry or fight Andy, or maybe even both. Once you reached the classroom where detention was, all the students and even the teacher looked at you with shock.

"(Y/N), are you lost?" your world history teacher, Ms. Nelson looked puzzled.

"Um... this is detention right?" You asked nervously.

"Yes."

You took a seat by the window. "Then I'm in the right place. My name's on the list," you sighed, slumping your head down on the desk.

You didn't notice when Andy quickly moved to the front of the room, sitting beside you. "Hey (Y/N), it's nice to see you again," he smiled.

"Leave me alone, Andy," you groaned.

"I just wanted to say sorry," he said. "Look, I want to make it up to you. Since I'm kinda the reason you're in here."

You lifted your head, looking him dead in the eye. "Kinda?"

"Let's ditch," he suggested.

"You're crazy," you shook your head. "I'm not getting in any more trouble because of you."

"Oh come on, I promise it'll be fun," Andy begged, "And we won't get in trouble, I swear."

"What makes you say that?"

"Watch," he stood up from his seat and walked over to the front to Ms. Nelson. He whispered something in her ear, but you couldn't read his lips well enough to make out what he was saying. Once he stopped, Ms. Nelson looked at you.

"(Y/N), why didn't you tell me you had a mandatory student government meeting? Of course you and Andy can be dismissed early," she smiled.

"Um, thank you?" You stood up slowly, unsure if this was a joke or not.

"Come on (Y/N), we're gonna be late," Andy waved over.

You grabbed your bag and quickly followed him out. Once you two got down the hallway and out the building, you finally spoke. "What the hell was that back there? It's Monday. Student government meets on Thursdays. And you're not even in it."

"You complain a lot (Y/N). You should be thanking me," he grinned. "So where do you want to go? I'm thinking the nearby fair?"

You rolled your eyes. "I'm going home."

"No, you're not," he said.

"No, I'm not," You immediately replied, without even thinking. "What the hell?"

"Awesome, lets go!"

~What really happened earlier~

"Oh come on, I promise it'll be fun," Andy begged, "And we won't get in trouble, I swear."

"What makes you say that?"

"Watch," he stood up from his seat and walked over to the front to Ms. Nelson. He lowered down to whisper, "You're going to tell (Y/N) and I that we can leave detention early because we have a mandatory meeting for student government."

Ms. Nelson nodded, her focus turned to you. "(Y/N), why didn't you tell me you had a mandatory student government meeting? Of course you and Andy can be dismissed early," she smiled.

~Present~

Somehow you agreed to go to the local fair with Andy, your nemesis. You still were questioning in your mind how the hell Ms. Nelson believed his made up excuse.

"Hey, want to ride that coaster first?" He pointed to the large wooden roller coaster at the center of the fair, where the line was so long it trailed off.

"We'll be waiting for hours," you sighed.

"No worries, I know a guy. Come on," he grabbed your hand and led you over to the front of the line. Everyone looked incredibly pissed at you two, but Andy didn't seem to mind at all.

"Excuse me sir, skipping the line isn't allowed. You'll have to walk to the back," the attendee said.

"Give me a sec," he let go of your hand and whispered something into the guy's ear.

"Oh my mistake," the guy smiled, "You two can go right in."

"How the hell did you convince him to let us in?" You said, walking by Andy's side.

"I have my ways," he shrugged.

After the amazing ride, you two went over to the games. Your eyes were aimed at a giant stuffed (favorite animal) hanging by the crossbow shooting game. "You want me to win that for you?" Andy asked, noticing you were staring.

"Oh no, you don't have to do that," you shook your head.

"Its no biggie, I'll get it for ya," he waved off, walking toward the stand. He paid for one round and was handed the crossbow. He was allowed 10 tries and had to hit the target at least three times for the stuffed animal you wanted. After all ten tries, he never hit the target once. Though he came close a couple times. "Dang, I really almost had that."

"Don't worry about it, it's rigged anyway. Thanks for trying," you said, starting to walk off in the other direction.

"No, hold on a sec," he ran back to the guy working the game and started talking but you couldn't hear anything. After a few seconds, the guy nodded and handed him the huge stuffed animal. Andy came back with a wide grin, "Here ya go!"

"How'd you convince him to give you that for free?"

He shrugged, "Dude felt bad that I didn't make any shots and just gave it."

"Hmm..." you weren't convinced, but took the gift anyway. Something was just strange about the whole ordeal. "Well thanks, Andy."

"No problem," he smiled, "Uh, are you hungry?"

"Yeah a little."

"How does a funnel cake sound?"

"I'd love one," you smiled. It was so unusual seeing Andy be so nice to you. You never hung out with him outside of school because he was always taunting you in class. Seeing this side of him was actually refreshing.

The rest of the night, Andy continued to amaze you with his words. He somehow convinced a vendor to give you a free funnel cake, then got you to the front of the line for every ride of the fair. It was insane. But of course, all good things had to come to an end. "I should probably get you back home. It's getting late," Andy said.

"Yeah," you nodded, "It's kind of a long walk, are you sure you want to walk me?"

"Yeah it's no issue," he assured, "I can drive us."

"But you don't have a car."

"I'll take care of that," he walked over to a man about to get into a sleek, red sports car. You weren't sure what he said, but in just seconds, the man handed him his keys.

"How..."

"You coming or what, (Y/N)?" He called out.

"Coming!" You said, rushing over. He let you into the passenger side and he walked over to enter the driver's seat. "So that guy just gave you his car keys? How?!"

Andy started up the car with a wide grin. "I told you, I have my ways. I'm just really good with my words I guess."

"You're just full of surprises aren't you, Gallagher?" You raised a brow.

"What can I say?"

You shook your head in disbelief. This was crazy. "Ya know, I actually had a lot of fun with you today, (Y/N). You're not as boring as I thought you were."

"Wow, thanks for the compliment," your words dripped with sarcasm.

"Sorry, I don't usually do these kinda things," he said.

"What kind of things?"

"Date or anything," he shrugged.

"This was a date?" You blushed.

"Oh no sorry I meant hang out," his words fumbled. "Yeah I don't usually hang out."

"Right," you nodded, feeling your lips curl into a smile.

"Well uh...this is it," he slowed the car right beside your house.

"Thanks again. I really had an awesome time on this 'date'," you chuckled and planted a quick kiss on his cheek before hopping out the car. "Call me sometime?"

"I'll think about it (L/N)," Andy chuckled and watched as you walked off into the night.
