First Kiss - Andy Gallagher
~(A/N: Hello everybody! Quick note I have is that everything in italics is supposed to be flashbacks. This was requested by @forgetfulFollower. Check out their account if you'd like. Other than that, enjoy!)~
"Have I told you how much I hate this van?" You raised a brow at the glimmering disco ball hanging at the ceiling of the car. You were sitting in the back of your best friend's van, watching him smoke a bong.
"Oh you love it," Andy chuckled before coughing up the sudden air he inhaled. He held out his bong toward you. "Sure you don't wanna hit?"
"I'm sure," you shook your head with a smile. Andy was always pretty laid-back, unlike yourself. He lived his life worry free whereas every decision you made caused you to always question the consequences. That was partially the reason why you and Andy got along so well. He was the free spirit that helped you let loose for once in your life.
"Hi," a pair of brown eyes met yours as you looked up from the booth you were wiping down.
"How can I help you?" You forged your regular fake smile to the customer, though your eyes showed obvious disinterest. This guy didn't look like most of the customers that stopped by; his eyes were brighter and he had this sweet, innocent smile that made him look younger compared to the old, butter drunks that came to this bar.
"A beer is fine. Make that two, so you can get one for yourself," he winked.
For some reason, you felt the unreasonable urge to grab two drinks. You crouched down and grabbed two Bud Lights. Popping open both bottles, you handed him one and placed the other in between each of you.
"Thank you," the guy smiled as he took the bottle. After taking a quick swig, he noticed you were just staring blankly at the other bottle. "Why aren't you drinking?"
"Can't drink on the job," you said simply, dusting off your hands on your black apron. "Not sure why I took it out anyway..."
"One drink wouldn't hurt," he smiled up at you.
Usually, you would not drink on the job, but the bar was pretty empty and he had a point. "You're right," you couldn't help but smile too as you grabbed the other beer and took a satisfying gulp.
"My name's Andy, by the way," he said, flashing another sweet smile.
"I haven't seen you around here before, Andy," you changed the subject, deciding not to tell him your name. You were never one to wear name tags, mainly because you had trust issues and working at a bar meant dealing with many sketchy characters.
"I'm just passing by. I move around a lot," he shrugged, taking another swig. "But enough about me. Tell me about yourself."
The van was filling up with smoke and the thick smell of marijuana. You lied against the velvety side of the van, staring at Andy across. He glanced back at you with a smug grin, giggling to himself like an idiot.
"What's so funny?" You asked, pursing your lips.
"You, silly," he cackled. "I mean, look at miss goody two shoes here, hanging out in a stuffy van with a stoner."
"I'm not a goody two shoes," you rolled your eyes. "Unlike you, I actually have to worry about getting into trouble."
Andy had a way of getting out of tight situations. You didn't learn his trick till almost a year into your friendship and it still astonished you to this day.
"(Y/N), I gotta be honest with you," Andy's eyes were low and his hand rested nervously around the bottle in his hand. After the night we met almost a year before, you and Andy became quite good friends. He never actually ended up leaving the town and stayed for you, since you insisted that you couldn't quit your job at the bar.
"What's wrong?" you asked, resting your elbows on the wooden counter, minimizing the distance between each other.
"I uh...wow this is hard to explain," he fumbled with his hands, keeping his eyes focused on the bottle.
"Just tell me," you persisted, lightly hitting him in the shoulder. "You're freaking me out with all this suspense."
"Alright alright," his eyes finally looked up into yours as he said, "I can control minds."
You stared at him blankly for a minute, waiting for him to laugh and say he was joking. But he just stared back at you with a serious expression, waiting for you to respond.
Out of no where, you busted into laughter to ease the awkward tension. You thought that, maybe if you laughed, he would finally break from his act and tell you he was just kidding. And there was nothing. Just you, laughing in an almost empty bar, looking like a maniac.
"You're joking, right?" You asked hesitantly, your laughing dying down.
"I know, it all sounds crazy but I'm telling the truth. I can show you," he said as he hopped off his seat, looking around the bar before stopping at one burly guy with a trucker's hat, drinking alone at a booth. "You see that guy over there?"
"Yeah..."
"Watch this," he said before walking over to the guy. "Hey you! Pea brain!"
"Are you talkin' to me?" the guy glanced up at Andy, giving him a warning glare.
"Yeah I'm talking to you!" Andy shouted and snatched the guy's drink right out of his hands before chugging it all down.
"You messed with the wrong guy, kid!" the man stood up, his hands clenching into fists. He looked like a giant compared to Andy.
You were about to take out your cell to call for back-up, when suddenly, Andy said, "I want you to calm down. Just go home and forget any of this happened. Oh, and give me twenty bucks. Okay?"
The man nodded and pulled out his wallet, handing Andy a twenty dollar bill. Andy smiled and pat his back, watching as the man calmly walked out of the bar like nothing happened. Your mouth gaped in shock at the sight.
You didn't realize that it got really quiet in the van till Andy finally broke the silence with another cough. "You okay?" You asked him.
"Yeah I'm fine," he smiled, "Are you?"
"Of course. Why do you ask?"
He set his bong down beside him and shifted over to your side of the van, sitting so close that your shoulders were touching. "I don't know. You've been staring at me for the past five minutes. You tell me."
"Sorry, I was just thinking," you told him. If someone had told you two years ago that you would become best friends with a mind controller who had a tacky taste in cars, you would've called them crazy. But after spending so much time with Andy, you never expected to fall for the guy.
"Thanks," you muttered.
"For what?" Andy turned to face you.
"For staying in this town," you slipped your hand slowly into his and gave it a gentle squeeze. "I wouldn't be living my life to the fullest if you hadn't shown up."
"No problem," Andy smiled, "I'm glad I stayed. You know I'd do anything to make you happy, right?"
"Yeah," you chuckled slightly, looking back down at your entwined hands.
"I'm serious, (Y/N). I just wanna make sure you live a little," his free hand roamed to your chin, and he tilted your face toward his. You almost gasped at the sudden movement, then relaxed once you saw him flash a smile as he leaned closer, pressing his lips onto yours.
You leaned into the kiss, letting go of his hand to reach your hands up around his neck. You pulled him closer to you, turning so he was straddling over you as you kissed. Your hands slipped into his scruffy brown hair, bunching it into fists.
You could feel him grinning under the kiss and he slowly pulled away. His hands were on each side of your waist and he wouldn't take his eyes off you. "What?" You laughed, biting your lip nervously.
"This was definitely worth staying for."
