Angelic- Castiel

~(A/N: Hey everyone! I know I haven't posted in quite a while and I'm really sorry. I blame school and my tendency to just procrastinate as a whole. Also, if you ever feel like it's taking me way to long to update, like let's say a week or two passes by, feel free to spam my inbox and ask me to update. Trust me, I don't mind. I should be writing at least once a week for you guys. Anyways, this one-shot is sort of based on the Maximum Ride series requested by @demigodfangirl365, so if you haven't read that, I recommend it. It's amazing! Also, I might make a part two if wanted)~

Being normal.

You never understood the concept. All those stereotypical high school movies of teenagers living regular lives and worrying about school and relationships was all just a fantasy to you. It's difficult, being on the run for your whole life. Raised in a lab, you never got the chance to be normal. Especially if you were a human-avian hybrid. That's right. 98% human, 2% bird.

Nothing was ever going to prepare you for what was to come. It all started at midnight when you had finally escaped the lab you were confined in practically your whole life. With no family or friends to go to, you were on your own, bruised and battered, soaring through the midnight sky. Exhaustion overtook you and your eyes began to droop. You began to feel yourself get heavier and heavier.

The flap of your feathered wings slowed down second by second, until you had come to an abrupt stop. Before you knew it, you were crashing down from the sky and landed hard on the sleek black hood of a car. The impact was so rough, you practically slid off the hood and fell down harshly onto the rough concrete.

The car quickly stopped and the roaring engine became mute. Multiple voices could be heard from inside the car, sounding distraught. You could barely hear or see anything, since your vision was beginning to fade."What the hell was that?"

"I don't know Dean, it just fell from the sky!"

"I'm gonna go check it out.You take the wheel Sammy."

~Time Skip~

"Is she one of your angel siblings Cas?" the familiar voice from the night before had spoken. You had finally regained conscious, but your eyes were still closed as you listened in on the conversation. You could barely move, but was surprised you hadn't broken every single bone in your body.

"No, I would've recognized her if she was. Where did you say you found her again?" a different gruff voice had asked.

"She literally crashed into us, like from the sky."

"That's odd."

You decided it was time to get up, knowing it would be wrong to snoop. Plus, you had no idea who these guys were and if they were going to take you back to the School, aka the lab. Your eyelids quickly rose up and you yawned, getting the strangers' attention.

"Great. She's up,"a green eyed man with trimmed dirty blond hair and freckles said, turning to face you.

The guy standing next him in a trench coat had his head tilted as he studied you. He had scruffy black hair and bright blue eyes. "Who are you?" you finally managed to say.

"Who are you?" the trench coat man asked.

You narrowed your eyes. "I asked you first."

"My name's Dean and this guy here is Castiel. Now do you mind telling us who the hell are you?" green eyes asked.

You sighed, glancing at the both of them for a moment. You always had this gift where you could sense people's intentions. Sort of like their auras. Not exactly mind reading, but soul reading if that's even what you'd call it. Castiel had a dim blue-white aura around him, as if he had been pure once but was now broken inside. There was just something about him, that made you know he was trust worthy. But Dean's was filled with pure black emptiness, as if all the hope and joy had been yanked out of him.

"(Y/N)," you muttered, knowing it'd be fine to tell them your first name.

"Do you mind telling us how you ended up crashing onto my baby, (Y/N)?" Dean raised a brow.

"Your baby? Crashing? What are you talking about?" you asked, confused by the sudden interrogation.

"You don't remember anything from last night?" he asked.

"No, I was exhausted. All I remember was falling on something hard, then that's it," you shrugged, "What did happen?"

"Well my brother Sam and I found you unconscious in the middle of the road and took you back to our bunker. You're lucky my buddy Cas here healed you in time or you would've been a goner," Dean said.

"Healed?" you furrowed your eyebrows at Castiel.

"I'm an angel of the lord. I have the power to heal," Castiel quickly explained.

"An angel?"you asked, though not seeming as surprised as they expected you to be. You've seen a lot in your day. "Makes sense now."

"What makes sense?"Castiel asked.

"Well I've never met an angel before but your aura is brighter than most people I can see. They're are usually yellow or blue, occasionally even darker colors depending on their personality. But yours," you tried to find the right words, "It's different."

"Aura? You mean my grace? How can you see that?"

You shrugged, "I don't know, I just can."

"Cas, are you sure this girl isn't some kind of angel or something?" Dean asked, eyeing you nervously.

"No, she's definitely human," he narrowed his eyes, "Well partly."

"Partly?" Dean asked.

"I can't really explain. Could you just, leave us two alone for a moment?" Castiel asked.

Dean parted his lips to say something, but decided to stay quiet. He complied and walked over to the door, "I'll be right outside if you need anything."

Castiel nodded as Dean shut the door behind him. "What was that for?" you asked.

"What are you?" Castiel suddenly asked, narrowing his eyes at you.

You hesitated for a moment, unsure if he'd be able to handle the truth. Instead of answering, you stood up slowly from the bed you had been sitting on, still feeling some sore bruises. Averting his gaze, you slowly retracted your fluffy white wings, which had been smudged by dirt. "I'm a hybrid. Part human, part bird."

"A hybrid? I've never heard of such a thing," Castiel gasped, staring at your wings in awe.

"That's because we're sort of low on the radar. My old flock are the only lasting hybrids left. But I have no clue where they are. I've been on the run for a while, trying to find them," you told him.

"On the run?"

"Well I was raised in a lab and I recently escaped. So I've been hiding from the people trying to take me back ever since," you explained.

"And you haven't found any clues to where your flock might be?" Castiel asked.

You shook your head with a frown. "Look, if they find me here, you and your friends will be in danger. So let me leave here while I can. I promise I won't bother you again."

"No."

"What do you mean 'no'?"

"You are still not fully recovered. Going out alone would be risky. I suggest you stay here with us a little longer. We can protect you," Castiel offered.

"And how are you going to do that?"

"Like I said, I'm an angel. And Sam and Dean are hunters. We encounter danger every day," he assured.

"That doesn't really sound reassuring," you admitted. His blue eyes were somber, as if they were pleading for you to stay. You bit your lip, unsure of what to do. It was either leave now and possibly risk getting found, but saving Sam, Dean, and Cas from death or stay for a while longer and risk the people coming after her finding her and killing them all.

"Let us help you. Please."
