Lucifer lived alone in the woods. He respected nature, killed only to eat and has been left in the woods near the castle to die when he was a child. He was a legend in the castle, a silent and scentless child of the nature that could be seen flying over the cliff in the distance every day at noon.
King Michael was greatly intrigued by him. On one fateful day, he decided to go to the cliff towering over the sea of high grass in the plain. He stood there at a respectable distance, far enough so that his scent wouldn't de detected. Or so he thought.
Lucifer had a nose extremely more sensitive than most for living in the woods for so long, and he faintly smelled the scent of salty wind and old books that emanated from the Alpha. He lost control for a moment before regaining his stability and glancing at the Alpha King standing away.
Something in his smell made Lucifer want to leap towards him, to be safe in his arms, but he shook the thought. It must've been only because he hadn't met an Alpha in months.
Michael had been startled when the flying figure seemed to leap then look at him, but when he stepped forward the man flew back in the forest. Could it be possible he smelled him from that far? There was a mystery around that man that Michael wanted to solve and fast, because somehow he felt drawn towards him, and his wings twitched at the thought.
The next day at noon he made sure he wasn't needed and returned to the cliff, standing closer to the edge and the flying man this time. He stood there, still as a tree, then went away when the other one leaped to the forest.
The little game carried on. Michael came to the cliff as often as possible and with each time he was closer to Lucifer. One day he finally reached the edge and sat there, observing the other's flight style. It was devoid of any grace, but that's what made it so efficient. Michael was the best flyer of the kingdom, but was certain that man could beat him.
Lucifer liked that game. He liked the scent of the Alpha and he liked flying. The only times he didn't fly was during his heat, which would soon start. This time though, the Alpha was sitting on the edge of the cliff and Lucifer decided to join him. It was still painful though, seeing how clean he King was and how dirty himself was.
Lucifer sat next to Michael and they stayed like that for a while, until Michael could finally place what was wrong.
"Why don't you have a scent?"
Lucifer wasn't sure if he wanted to answer that. He wasn't sure he wanted to be next to the King Alpha that attracted him, but decided to go for another question.
"My name's Lucifer. What's yours, King Alpha?"
Michael was puzzled. How had Lucifer found he was a King? Those things didn't usually appear in the scent.
"I am called Michael. How did you know I was King?"
"Your scent says you're an Alpha but there's another thing, so subtle most can't smell it. Also because of that golden tiara on your head."
That tiara, Michael wore it all the time instead of his crown. It was discreet and finely worked, gold strands twisted and crossed in an exquisite form. It contrasted with his ebony hair and Michael was very fond of it.
"I guess you're right. I'll repeat my question: why don't you have a smell?"
"Your Beta guards go on nightly patrols trough the woods. I had to find a way to hide it or they'd find me. It's fairly simple, just apply some mint on your odour gland for 12 hours and it'll be hidden for a month." Michael was surprised, but took note of the info to give to his spies. "Also it'll be better if you don't come around for the next week, my heat will be starting soon and I really don't need an Alpha scent around. When I fly again you can come."
"As you say. But before I leave, I have a present for you."
"Why would you?" Lucifer was perplexed. Why would anyone give something to him, even less a King Alpha whom he met the same day?
Michael presented two bars of soap.
"The blue one is shampoo, the cream one is soap. I imagined you would like to be able to properly wash yourself, seeing as you live in the woods."
"Thanks," Lucifer managed to say before flying away to his lair, near a waterfall. He could use it to wash himself.
The next day he felt his heat kick in, and was grateful when Michael wasn't at the cliff. Instead, there was a basket and the remains of a Beta scent. Lucifer looked inside the basket and found grapes, cheese and some still warm bread. Could Michael be the one who told a Beta maid to place it there?
The whole week, he would go to the cliff and find a new basket every day. They contained food, clothing and hygiene products, mainly soap and shampoo.
Lucifer's heat eventually ended and he started flying again, Michael watching him from the ground. Then he would six next to Michael and they would talk for what seemed like hours to them.
Michael loved their talk partly because it allowed him to escape from his obligations. With Lucifer, he could simply be himself. A part of him wanted to stay there forever with the Omega by his side, not because he was an Omega, but because he was growing fond of their friendship.
For Lucifer, Michael was his contact with the world. He was his first and only friend and it was something Lucifer relished, even when sometimes he wished there was more to it.
Oops! Don't worry, the next chapitre will be a part two to this, I didn't think it would come out that long.
