"Sam, come on, we're gonna be late!" Dean yelled at Sam from the door.
"You're gonna be late, I'm not coming!" Sam shot back.
"Yes you're coming," Dean said, walking over to Sam only to forcefully pull him in the car.
Once the car was started, Sam reached his face for a pair of glasses. Not finding, he started to panic.
"Dean!" Sam breathed out. "Dean! My glasses!"
"What, your glasses?"
"I don't have them!"
Dean pulled over and looked at Sam, who was on the ridge of a panic attack.
"And?"
"And the last person who saw my eyes nearly beat me to death. It was our father. What do you think strangers are gonna think about them!"
"I'm sure they'll be fine with it, the Novak are really open."
"Yeah, let's greet a guy who's eyes make him a freaking monster!"
"Sam! Look, it'll be okay, all right? If they don't like you, I'll bring you home. Simple."
Sam shot him a doubtful glare, but nodded anyways, slightly calming down.
When they arrived at the Novak's house, Sam got anxious again, but Dean had already knocked.
A man with black hair, probably of Dean's age, opened the door.
"Hey Cas."
"Hey Dean," Cas answered. "Who's he?"
"I'm his brother Sam, and before you ask I'm here because Dean thought it wasn't safe for his 16 years old brother to stay alone at home," Sam bursted out, looking briefly at Cas before staring back at the ground, in a way that his eyes were hidden.
"Okay, well come in," Cas said, his voice a little troubled.
Sam entered the house, still finding the floor extremely interesting. Then a hand grabbed his arm, and a voice that very probably belonged to that arm said "Heya Sammy! You're Sam, right? Me, it's Gabriel, he's Lucifer, though you probably don't see us because you're too concentrated staring at the floor. Come on, we're going socializing!"
Sam allowed himself to be pulled in a room, then silently sat on the bed. Almost immediately he was was bombed with a thousand questions, to which he answered with yes, no or the shortest answer possible.
"Why do you keep your eyes down all the time?" The dreaded question came from Gabriel.
"I don't have my glasses," Sam whispered in answer.
"Your glasses? What does it have to do?" Lucifer asked, though there was a glimpse of understanding in his voice. Clearly, he was sure he had found the secret.
Sam took a deep breath, closed his eyes, lifted his head and shot his eyelids open.
His eyes were plain turquoise, with vertical pupils.
Gabriel and Lucifer looked at each other, nodded, and both took their glasses off. Their eyes were identical to Sam's, the only difference being the colour. Gabriel's eyes were golden and Lucifer's red.
Sam gaped, an unbelieving look crossing his face at the sight of these eyes on someone else than him.
"You- but-" wad the only thing Sam was able to utter.
"Happy you're not the only one?" Lucifer said. Sam only nodded.
"Come on, cheer up a bit, you look like you've seen someone die!" Gabriel exclaimed, throwing a lollipop at Sam. "By the way, why were you so keen on hiding it? I mean, it's just that, at least to us, you know, it's like an awesome gift from nature."
"Good for you," Sam shot back, sarcasm dripping in his voice. "It's been awesome for me too, you know, being bullied and treated names and almost beaten to death by my own father, it's an amazing gift from nature, of course!"
"Shit," Lucifer breathed. "Oh god I'm so sorry Sam."
"Yeah, that was a year ago. Now he's in jail and we live at our uncle Bobby's."
"Ok, change of subject," Gabriel interrupted the talk. "Do you know what comes with your eyes?"
"What are you talking about?"
"Well, let's say that our eyes are just the tip of the iceberg. Has anything strange happened to you, like out of the ordinary?"
"Well, no why? Wait, now that I think of it... there was this one time, after- my father had locked me in my room, but when I tried to get out because I had to pee the door was unlocked as if someone came in and unlocked it. It was the kind if door that can only be locked from outside."
"Yeah, not that much, but still."
For the rest of the day, Gabriel and Lucifer taught Sam how to use his abilities, and when Sam had to leave he had two more friends and was able to move stuff with his mind. He exited the room head high, a happy smile on his face, for once not caring about his eyes.
In the car, Dean noticed Sam's change of attitude, pleased with it, but still asked why.
"Luce and Gabe are so in love," was Sam's response.
