The Mockingjay (michifer)

Okay, so I also have that headcanon that angels have wings that fit a certain bird's and have a characteristic depending on the bird. Like one with eagle wings would have a really good vision or one with falcon wings can run super fast.

(I know mockingjays don't exist in real life but I don't want him to be a parrot so whatever)

"Come on, you should so do it!"

Charlie was currently trying to convince Michael to do the talent show. Until now, his answer had always been no.

"You really think? I mean, I'm not that-"

"Oh hell no, you're not saying you're bad. You're the best signer I've ever heard!" Charlie looked almost as passionate about this as about her ships, wings spread wide behind her.

"Yeah, of course I am," Michael said, full of sarcasm.

"Whatever, don't bother arguing 'cause I've already signed you up. Audition is in a week."

"What?! What in heavens am I going to sing?" Michael almost screamed, his wings twitching behind him.

"I don't know, you know like, Hamilton, Dear Even Hansen, Heathers and Six by heart and I'm probably forgetting some, you just have to pick one!"

"You have a point, I guess. Do you think the audition song's gonna be my show song?"

"Nah, it's always a different one."

Michael nodded, distracted by the 'ding' of a notification. He smiled when he saw it, wings stretching ever so slightly.

Lucifer: Hey Mickey! How's it doing?

Lucifer was a friend Michael made on the internet, he didn't know him in person but had managed to fall in love with him inside the eight months they knew each other.

M: I've just been forced to do the talent show.

Seeing him smile at his phone, Charlie left Michael, knowing it was his mysterious 'internet friend'.

L: Oh
When is it?

M: March 25

L: Mine too!

M: I never asked, where do you go? Your school I mean

L: Lawrence High, why?

M: No way, me too!

The bell rang, startling Michael off of his phone. He didn't really listen though, thinking of Lucifer. He'd probably have heard of it if there was a guy named after the freakin' Devil in his school. When the bell rang again he rushed outside of the class, wanting to text Lucifer again.

M: We could meet after the show at the gates, you know, meet in person

He didn't notice the boy at the other end of the hall who looked down and smiled at his phone.

L: That'd be awesome! It's only... six months away! I can't wait!

(Michael does the audition, time skip six months forward because I can't be bothered to write a proper smoother time skip)

Michael took a deep breath, building his confidence. His family was in the audience, Charlie was watching, Lucifer was in the audience... He heard the announcers and their little sketch.

"Yeah, I've heard about that one, they said it's absolutely awesome! Without any more wait, here is Michael Miligan with Michael in the Bathroom! Funny choice, considering the names." They joked at the end, earning laughter.

His smile disappeared for his character as the curtain parted, leaning on the bathtub behind him.

He did good, he thought, by the loud cheer that he earned. He didn't have the best self-esteem. But it wasn't finished yet.

A few numbers later, Michael had changed from the 'CREEP' sweater from a slightly more '80's wardrobe.

There was claps when the song started, the recognizable bass echoing in the room. Michael started to sing and there was more cheers. If you closed your eyes, you were transported back in time, Freddie Mercury and David Bowie signing in front of you instead of a single teen. Him and the band earned probably the loudest cheers of the night.

But it wasn't finished yet, at least for him. No, the best, most stressful part came after the show. Time passed in a blur and before he knew it, he was standing at the main gates, scanning the crowd though he didn't know what Lucifer looked like.

There were less and less people as everyone left, leaving Michael with the dreadful idea that Lucifer never came. But then again, Lucifer could be anyone.

M: Where are you?

L: Right in front of you ;)

Michael looked up and his gaze caught someone waving in his direction. He walked up to the guy, his smile getting bigger with every step. Once Michael was in front of him, the man typed something on his phone and Michael's phone chimed not a second after.

L: Hello there!

Michael looked up again. "Hey Mickey."

Michael's smile was impossibly big.

"Hey Luci," he teased. Just his luck, Charlie came up to him, wings fluttering in excitement.

"Oh hey Mickey, hey stranger." She paused. "Oh, is it the mysterious internet friend? We should-" Michael saw the opportunity and took it.

"Shut up Heather," he sang, in a strangely accurate imitation of the original Heather Chandler. Strangely, because it was perfect and he was a boy, not a girl.

"Sorry Heather," Charlie replied with a smile. "Look who's with her, oh my god." The three of them broke into a fit of laughter. "Well, it was nice meeting you, internet friend, but I gotta go."

They waved her off. "So, Mickey," Lucifer started, a smirk on his face, "can I see your wings?"

Michael smiled, wondering if Lucifer would uncover his little secret, the reason he was so good at impressions. He opened his wings, black with two white stripes at the tip.

Lucifer's eyes widened seeing them. "No way, you're a mockingjay? I thought they didn't exist!" Michael looked down, blushing slightly. "That's so cool! Now I understand why you're the best signer I've ever heard!"

Michael blushed harder under the praise. "Thanks, I guess. What are you?"

"Golden eagle," Lucifer answered.

Michael smiled wildly, happy to have a friend that wasn't an over energetic lesbian blue jay. Well, Lucifer was a sarcastic bisexual golden eagle, but whatever.

Hey, pride month is here! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

Can you see how much I'm obsessed with musicals? I don't care what you think, musicals are life.

My next shot's gonna be an Avengers crossover, probably. I really wanna imagine their reaction to two bickering, gay for each other archangels in their living room.
