Season 11

You had grown up in the hunting life, considering both of your parents were hunters. Therefore, of course you'd heard of the Winchesters; but never in your life did you dream that, one day, you'd meet them. You were on a hunt by yourself when you crossed paths with the brothers. After working together and saving each other's lives, Sam and Dean offered to let you live in the bunker with them. Since you had nowhere to call home after your parents died the year before, you gladly took them up on it. Now you had been staying with them for almost half of a year and were beginning to feel like real family.

"We'll figure it out," you assured Cas. The two of you had bee talking in the bunker about the recent release of the Darkness. "We always do..don't worry."

With these comforting words, Castiel smiled weakly and responded, "I hope you're right."

"Cas," Sam greeted as he entered the room, "it's good to see you."

"And you, Sam," the angel replied, "where is your brother?"

A sideways smile slipped onto Sam's face as he replied, "ah, in his room." Hearing this, Cas made his way to meet Dean, leaving Sam and you alone.

"Well, I'm sure they'll be busy for a while," you joked with a smirk. It was no secret anymore that Dean and Cas were slowly becoming more than friends. And it was the sweetest thing you'd ever seen. It almost made you jealous that you couldn't have something like that with Sam. Because, surely, he thought of you as a sister.

Sam let out a short laugh as he nodded in agreement. Then, eager to find something to do, he asked, "you wanna watch a movie?"

You smiled brightly and beamed, "sounds like a plan; I'll get the popcorn."

Before you had time to leap away to the kitchen, Sam gave you a look, "..you sure?"

"Um..yeah?" You answered in confusion.

"I just mean, the last time you tried to make popcorn..." Sam began, trailing off awkwardly.

You rolled your eyes. "I only fell because of that stupid broken chair, it's not my fault I can't exactly reach everything," you explained defensively.

Sam laughed again, looking down at the small young lady. You could've easily been the most feirce, determinded, and strong woman he knew. But the fact that you couldn't do simple tasks because of your height was adorable to him. He may have been extremely tall, but you were also just extremely short, standing at least a foot shorter than him. "Alright, well, just let me help you, (Y/n)," Sam offered in a sweet, smooth voice. His voice melted your heart immediately and you gave in. Together, you walked into the kitchen.

Once there, Sam helped you climb atop a chair to reach to popcorn, since you had insisted on doing it yourself. "Be careful," he warned. You didn't reply as you grabbed a packet of kernels and popped it in the microwave. "Let me at least help you down," Sam insisted.

"I don't need help down, Sam," you argued.

"I know you don't," was all Sam said.

There was a sly grin on his lips. Being on the tall chair, you were at eye level with him, staring directly at his gorgeous face. The scruff of not shaving in a couple days was showing around his cheeks and lips, contouring his face perfectly. And his hair was fluffily smoothed back, curling up just the slightest bit on the ends. All the while, his eyes staring into yours. "..Okay," you finally allowed, so softly that Sam barely heard.

You felt Sam's long arms slide around your hips, sending chills up her spine. He lifted you with ease, placing you gently in the floor. But as quickly as it started, the obnoxious beeping of the microwave had ended the blissful moment.

"I got it," Sam offered as he began to fiddle with the microwave.

You nodded shyly, feeling your face flush. Trying to snap yourself out of the daze, you put the chair back where you'd gotten it from. But when you tried to leave the kitchen to get the movie set up, an arm stretched out before you. "Wait a minute," Sam muttered, his tone holding a heavy sweetness that you had never heard before.

"Yes?" You asked, trying to act as if nothing was up.

Sam shrugged and handed you the bag of popcorn. "Well I," he began, grinning and scratching his neck, "I kinda liked carrying you, (Y/n)."

Your heart jumped and your mind search desperately for a smooth response. After a hesitation, you joked, "oh come on, I know I'm the size of a child, but I do know how to walk."

But your attempt of pushing everything off with a laugh failed; Sam didn't change his expression as he cooed, "I know you do."

Again, you were left with no option but to give in...not that you didn't want to. Sam swooped you off your feet and carried you bridal style all the way to your room. On your bed, he sat you down and took a seat at your side. You started a movie and ate your popcorn. And once it was over, you had finally gotten the courage to speak your thoughts.

"Sam," you started awkwardly. Expressing feelings was never your strength; you were much more like Dean in that sense. But you knew that you wanted Sam, so you tried, "why do you treat me like..uh, the way you do?"

"Well..because...I love you," Sam muttered with just as much tense awkwardness.

You stared up at him in complete surprise. It was clear that he was waiting for you to react, to say something. After a moment of silence, Sam adverted his eyes and laughed nervously. "Honestly, I thought you'd figured it out already."

"Well, no...I-I didn't.." You admitted, tripping over her words. And that was another thing: you weren't just bad at expressing your feelings, but at picking up on others'. But before Sam's heart could break from the lack of certainty in your responses, you leaned up and kissed his cheek. And when he finally looked your in the eyes again, you smirked and met his lips.

It was just like you'd dreamed; firm yet soft, emotional yet relaxing, absolutely perfect. Sam kissed back with all he had.

And when it ended, you were left to stare into one another's eyes. The same eyes you'd known for so long, yet different. Because for the first time ever you didn't need to sheild their feelings. So you left everything flow out from then on.
