The love of an actor - Dean Winchester x Reader
You let out a small breath after taking a gulp of your beer. Your looked at the beer bottle in your hand and let out a small sigh, shaking your head.
"Wow yeah, I totally agree with you" a rough voice said next to you and you turned your head to look at a man sitting at the seat that was previously empty; hell almost the whole bar was empty - save for about three to four people here and there other than you. It was a small one at the corner, not far away from your house, and not many people knew it.
"What?" you asked with a small frown trying to get more of the man in front of you. He was wearing a hat, short dark blonde spikes sticking out here and there. He had a slight scruff and you could see some freckles dusting over his nose and cheekbones. His eyes were covered behind dark black sunglasses and you couldn't see him properly. He had huge grin on, though, his perfect pearly white teeth showing and you found yourself melting at the sight in front of you.
What? No! you thought to yourself.
I don't even know this guy. you thought to yourself again, though there was something- something that you couldn't point your finger on. Something that told you that you had seen this man before, somewhere, somehow, yet you couldn't pinpoint it.
"You're obviously having a disagreement with your beer here" he motioned to your beer "So I figured you would want to have someone stick by your side" he said casually and you couldn't help but look at him with a stunned look.
This man was definitely crazy but... the good crazy.
A chuckle escaped your throat and when you heard him laugh, you laughed more too. You shook your head and looked down at your beer.
A smile still on your lips.
"No, no I was just thinking" you mumbled.
"Oh, ok then. Cause I thought that you were having a telepathic conversation with your beer bottle and I kind freaked out a little bit" he said, the grin never leaving his face.
"Why?" you asked before you could stop yourself.
The answer was pretty obvious anyway.
"How could anyone ever oppose those pretty eyes is impossible to believe" he said innocently and you felt heat rush in your cheeks.
Obviously not.
"You tell that to my Anatomy teacher" you mumbled under your breath, your smile fluttering for a few seconds.
"Uh I see, well it's been a while since I was in school but- I know teachers can most of the time be real assholes so-" he stopped mid-sentence and raised his hand to the barman and order two beers; one for you and one for him.
"Thanks" you mumbled "I really need another one now" you said and he nodded with a small smile.
"No problem. If you wan to, you can even tell me what's got you bothered too" he said a little bit unsure of himself.
"It's just-" you began speaking, not caring for a second that you had just met the man and were just willing to open up to him "I'm tired, you know?" you said looking down at your beer.
You saw him give a small nod and you continued speaking "I try hard, for everything but it feels sometimes as if it is not enough. Everybody always seems to criticize me and- it's so tiring. Hell, I barely find time for myself sometimes and- giving up on everything seems like the best option." you let out a sigh, shaking your head, and taking a big sip of your beer.
"I get it, you know. It's hard yeah, and believe me cause I've been through some real shit in my life but- I know that sometimes you find no hope. Hell, maybe there is no hope at all but- who knows, really?" he took a sip of his beer "But giving up? No giving up is definitely not the solution. I know that you feel like nothing matters but- if you think about it there are some things that actually matter. Whether family, friends, love or, hell, even a car! I know I would do anything for Baby!" he exclaimed with a grin when he saw the hope in your eyes and a smile making its way in your lips.
"Baby? Your- your girl?" you asked a little unsure.
"No, my car. That's how I call her" he said and you felt a weight lift over your shoulders. You chuckled and he did the same.
"I guess you're right" you said looking at your beer and then back at him "There are a few things that I think I could keep fighting for" you said with a smile.
"See? There you go!" he said with a wide smile and took a sip of his beer just like you did.
"Come on, tell me" he urged you and your eyes all but widened.
"What?" you asked.
"Tell me, what would you keep fighting for?" he said with a smirk that seemed really familiar; just like his voice but yet again you could not point your finger on it.
"What no! It's-it's silly. I-" you avoided looking at his eyes- or, well, his sunglasses basically which he had yet to take off. But you weren't going to ask anyway. You didn't want to prive in case the guy was, who knew, blind? Not that it would make any difference to you anyway. He had an amazing personality, as far as you could know for now, and that was all that mattered.
"Oh come on tell me!" he all but whined and you couldn't help but think it was cute.
Snap out of it (Y/n)! you scolded yourself.
"Come on! I told you I 'keep fighting' for my car, and my younger brother of course, but how more crazy can it be than that?" he encouraged you.
"It is when it comes to someone I have never even met" you mumbled shyly and looked down at your hands, a blush rising in your cheeks.
"What? I didn't hear ya!" he said with a grin and you laughed, shaking your head and running a hand over your face. Of course he had heard you but obviously wanted to know more.
"I- There is somebody that admire and- And he has inspired me a lot. He- he's an actor, big one at that, but I don't admire him just because of how good of an actor he is or how well he acts. It is really breathtaking how amazingly he acts. I-I once wanted to go see him on a play he was in. I've seen all his movies, even his first ones, but seeing him acting live in front of me could not compare to anything else. I tried to convince my parents but they couldn't afford the tickets so I tried to put aside some money. Hell I've been saving money for four months. Didn't go out with my friends at all in order not to spend any but- in the end it was worth it." a soft smile rested on your lips "But as I said it is not how amazingly he acts that made me admire him. He- he's been through a lot and yet- it's like every time I see him whether on photos or videos he- he's always smiling. He seems so carefree that it makes me wonder if he has actually been through all of those things. But he has. And yet- yet he has managed to get this far in life that it's astounding. Great actor, millions of fans worldwide, known by almost everybody, has more money than anyone could ever imagine and yet- he- he used to be just a simple kid when he was young. Almost with no family or money. Went through so much and now is the most famous actor ever. But never forgot where he came from, who were the ones that helped him. Never forgot who he was and that... that is just inspiring" you let out a breath you didn't know you've been holding. You stopped your rambling that you hadn't realized you had even started.
It was just the mental image of that man that could do that to you. So many emotions and thoughts would run through your mind every time. You admired him to no ends. Not only the way many girls, at your university too, would say they did. The admiration they had over him was just about his appearance. They were only fans of his for how 'hot' he was, for his pretty eyes and well-built body, and sometimes they said they liked his movies but you knew that that wasn't 100% real. You did not admire him for any of that - well, sort of. You could never - ever deny how good-looking he is and that the movies he was in were the best but- finding out about his past, Dean Winchester's past, and how he had managed to get this far made you actually admire him... for him.
Dean Winchester. Great, famous movie actor that had girls running behind him and begging for just a glance or smile.
He was your idol for life and really the only person above everybody that managed to make you see the bright side of things. The small videos that he still made and uploaded on youtube for his fans, the words he said, the encouragement he gave you, always had you motivated despite the circumstances.
"What's his name?" the guy - you had actually forgotten to ask his name, you now realized that - asked you with a small smile.
"Dean. Dean Winchester. You must have heard about him, everybody has." you mumbled and after a small glance at him you looked down at your beer.
"Yeah, yeah I think I might have" the sudden change in his voice tone made you frown. It wasn't playful but more of... disbelief? Awe? Wonder? Happiness? All those together.
You decided to glance at him for a second but as soon as you looked at his way the smile vanished from your face and a stunned expression took over. Not only because instead of black sunglasses your eyes locked with green orbs but because the man that now stood in front of you - hell, he has been standing there for all this time - was him.
It was him. The man you never thought you would get to meet in your life, let alone talk to - so casually for that matter - just like friends.
Dean Winchester.
... and that shit eating grin that caused butterflies to dance in your stomach and your cheeks burn hot.
~~~
Who would have thought that you would soon become more than that. More than two almost-strangers at a bar. More than two good friends shortly afterwards. More than-
"Baby?" Dean's voice broke your trail of thoughts and you looked up from your degree in your hands up to the forest-green eyes of your lovely boyfriend.
It has been a year and a half since you met him and if someone had told you back then that you, a simple girl nothing extraordinary, would be dating someone like him you would have laughed in their face. But who could have thought of it? It had actually happened.
"Hey you" you smiled at him and after placing your degree on your desk, you made your way to him.
He grinned widely and brought his arms around your waist, yours went around his neck. You rested your forehead against his and smiled warmly.
"What were you thinking?" he asked with a smirk "Or where you having a telepathic conversation with your degree?" he soon added wiggling his eyebrows and you rolled your eyes.
"Shut up Winchester!" you hit his chest playfully "I'm still mad at you for not coming to congratulate me after I got it" you pouted and frowned at him.
"Really?" he raised and eyebrow and smirked at you "Ok then, maybe I can find a way to make it up to you?" he said suggestively and before you could responded he lifted you off the ground and wrapped your legs around his waist.
You yelped but then started giggling as he started playfully attacking your neck with kisses and bites.
"Dean!" you yelped again as he threw you onto the couch, him still on top of you.
"S-stop!" you said through giggles.
"Are you still mad at me?" he asked after pulling away from you for a second.
You frowned again at him and pursed your lips "Yes!" you said stubbornly.
"Fine then" he shrugged and your eyes widened when you saw the predatory look in his eyes.
"Dean, no don-" you didn't have time to finish your sentence before he attacked your sides; tickling you and making your laughter fill the room.
"D-dean n-no stop!" you tried to make him stop, in vain though.
"Nope!" he said with a grin.
"Nice shirt by the way" he soon added after he finally stopped attacking your sides. It was a simple T-shirt with the Shield of Captain America: The winter soldier, his newest movie, on it. with 'I <3 heroes' written below. It had become your most favorite movie and you loved every bit of it. Mostly because Dean had refused to go the premiere of it, coming up with every excuse he could and putting up with the Media commenting on his absence, and decided to buy it on a DVD and watch it with you at his place. He made a mini cinema there, pillows and blankets everywhere and popcorn and chocolates ready for you two to eat. Oh and of course pie. Never forget the pie.
But the movie itself was great and you had already watched it many more times than you could count. You loved every bit of it - save for the kissing scene between Dean and Scarlett. You couldn't help but feel a little bit jealous when you saw it the first time and Dean didn't miss the funny face you made at it - he teased you about it in the beginning, of course, but then wouldn't stop telling how much more important you were to him and that your kisses where a lot better than any others. You couldn't help but smile at hearing that.
Dean truly was the best boyfriend you could ask for. Sure he was an ass sometimes, and definitely a jerk but that was mostly when it came to his brother. Other than that he was sweet, kind, funny, caring and all around perfect. He was nothing like you had expected him to be - he was much more. He was so simple and normal. He didn't think he was above everyone or more important than anyone because he was famous. He not once used that in his advantage. He did not care how much money and fame he got. He - just like you had imagined it - cared about doing only what he loved, acting, and that was all that mattered to him.
You recovered from your feat of laughter and rolled your eyes playfully at him "Yeah, whatever. It's just because I could't find to wear anything else, don't flatter yourself Winchester" you said.
"Are you so sure about that?" he asked with a smirk and you raised an eyebrow at him.
"Want to prove me wrong, Captain?" you emphasized the last word and got closer to him.
"As you wish, ma'm" he said in his deep, Captain America, voice and closed the distance between you; his lips pressing to yours.
The kiss was sweet and soft in the beginning but it soon turned into heated and passionate. He would occasionally bite at your lower lip, his tongue moving in sink with yours and you found yourself seeing stars. Your stomach doing flip flops and your heart beating wildly in your chest. The effect this man had on you.
"Wow" you breathed out once you pulled away. Your cheeks were burning hot as you tried to take in as many breaths as possible.
"Captain America at your service, ma'm" he said with a smirk and you chuckled.
"Congratulations baby" he said after pecking your lips "You deserved this" he smiled at you and you forced a smile on your lips, memories coming back.
Of course you weren't really mad at him for not coming to congratulate you for getting your degree in medicine and succeeding to become a doctor. He was there when you were given the degree and you could see him at the far corner of the room on his own, clapping loudly, a huge smile on his face. He seemed so proud and happy and it made you smile even more widely. He stood away from the crowd that was there for all the students and of course he was wearing a hoody and black sunglasses in order not to be recognized and you didn't mind. You couldn't be more happy to see him there for you and knowing that he had canceled shooting any scenes just to come to you.
You couldn't help but feel sad, though, when, as your parents and other family members were congratulating you, Dean didn't come close. And he didn't come close in order to not be recognized. It was true that even though you had been dating for about a year none of your close family members or friends knew about who was actually your boyfriend. And neither did Dean's fans. Nobody for that matter. You didn't know how you two had actually managed to keep it a secret for this long, not only from your close family and friends (both yours and Dean's) but The Media too. Nobody knew and it seemed that nobody would ever know.
It hurt you, you were not going to lie about that. Neither were you going to ask Dean why he had not told anybody nor force him to do so. You didn't dare to. Maybe it was the answer you would get that scared you. Or maybe it was that deep down you felt as if all of this did not matter to him, it wasn't as important to him as it was to you, that scared you. You had thought about it may times and wondered if the 13 years age gap you and him had was the reason why. Other times you thought that maybe... maybe he was ashamed of you? Maybe he actually did not want people to know that he, Dean Winchester, great and famous movie actor was with someone... someone like you.
Or maybe... maybe he didn't think this would last long. That there was no point in bothering to tell anyone because this would be over soon, just like most relationships he had had in the past. Maybe-
"(Y/n)?" Dean's voice broke your trail of thoughts. You had not even realized how you had zoned out.
"Yeah?" you asked blinking a few times.
"Are you ok?" he asked frowning, getting up from you and seating normally.
"Uh? Yeah, yeah Dean. I'm fine" you faked a smile that did not seem to convince him at all.
"Acting is my job (Y/n). Don't think you can fool me so easily with fake smiles, ok? Now tell me, what's wrong?" he asked frowning more.
"Nothing is wrong, Dean" you said once again.
"(Y/n)-" he went to protest but you cut him off.
"No, Dean, I told you. Everything is alright. There is no need for you to bother, ok?" you said a little bit more harshly than you intended "I'm tired. I will go take a shower" you murmured and and before Dean could respond, you got up and made your way upstairs to your room.
Dean watched you get up abruptly and get out of the room. He let out a sigh and then pursed his lips. He looked down at his hands and then clenched his fists. He was mad. Not mad at you. No, that could never happen. He was mad at himself. Mad at himself for being a coward. That was the only word that came in his mind whenever he thought about this situation. Because that was the only word that he could describe himself with. Other than dick, asshole, jackass- Ok there were more than one words that he could describe himself with.
But it was true nonetheless.
He knew why, although you denied it, you were so down. He did know that you were hurt... because of him. And it did make his heart ache at the thought of it. You meant a lot to him. More than he could ever admit. More than he could ever think of. And the thought of him being the reason why you were hurt made him all the more angry with himself. Angry for not finding the guts to finally say it out loud. To finally say to everybody that you and him were together. He wanted more than anything to do so because he knew that what you and him had was more than just a temporary relationship.
You were like no other girl he had ever met or been with. Ever since he met you, you were so... genuine. You not only treated him like a real person but also were honest and real with him. You didn't pretend for him in order to get him to like you. You were just... you. And that got Dean to fall head over heels in love with you from the first moments of knowing you. But Dean...
Dean was scared. He was scared of what people were going to say. Not that it mattered so much, anyway. He had never during his life and career cared about what others thought of him but he was scared of what the nasty comments were going to do to you. He knew that people were going to criticize him for dating someone 13 years younger than him and he didn't want to go through this. But most important of all, he didn't want you to go through this.
He didn't want you to get hurt, he was doing this to protect you but- maybe doing this actually did hurt you more than protect you?
He let out another sigh, shaking his head; not knowing what to do.
Silence followed until a beeping sound was heard and Dean looked at the coffee table to see he had a new message on his phone. It wasn't important, one of his manager that told him he had a new movie for him; Dean didn't care about any movies now - only you. He closed the message but accidentally pressed another app. He was about to close the instagram page when an idea popped in his mind and his eyes widened.
"That's it" he murmured.
~~~
You sighed exiting the bathroom. A towel wrapped around your body, your hair completely wet; droplets falling on the floor. Your lips were pursed as you searched through your clothes, trying to find something to wear and thinking about Dean. You felt bad for talking to him that way, he wasn't the one to blame - sort of - but he was partly innocent anyway. Maybe he hadn't thought about it at all. Maybe he didn't think of it the way you did. Maybe it was your own insecurities that made you over-think things and-
A beep was heard in the silence of the room, breaking your thoughts for a split second, but you decided to ignore it. That and the second beeping sound. And the third. And the fourth. And the fifth. And the sixth. And the-
"What the hell is going on?!" you suddenly stopped searching for clothes and grabbed your phone which had not stopped for a split second to beep.
You unlocked it to see more and more notifications coming from your instagram.
"Damn what is going on?!" you asked exasperated as more and more notifications came in.
You opened the picture that someone had tagged you to - you didn't pay attention to whom it was - and everybody would not stop hearting and commenting. You opened the photo only for your eyes to widen at the sight in front of you.
"What the..." you breathed out.
In front of your eyes was a picture of you taking your degree, a wide smile plastered on your face. It was a photo posted by...
"Dean?" you breathed out in disbelief.
"Yeah?" a voice asked behind you and you turned to look at Dean not far away from you.
"You...?" you only said, unable to form any more words.
"Yeah?" he asked with a smirk.
You swallowed the lump in your throat "You uploaded a photo... of me?" you asked in disbelief.
"Yeah" he shrugged "But I don't think you read the description" he smiled and you frowned.
You swallowed thickly and slowly averted your eyes from him to your phone screen.
'You know you deserved it @(Y/i/n)! Making me the proudest man alive, baby. Damn I can't wait to get sick to have you take care of me doc! #hottest doc ever #who needs a nurse #when they can have this #lov u #die happy #yes she's mine #dating this beauty #hell yes!'
Your eyes widened upon you read the whole of it. Your head snapped to Dean's direction, your mouth hanging open "Did you just...?" you managed to say, a smile forming on your lips when you saw him smile widely.
"Yeah, yeah I uh- I just figured since you- you seemed a little bit down, I-" he started, stuttering a little bit; scratching the back of his neck nervously, but you cut him off by closing the distance between you; you crashed your lips to his.
"Damn I love you. So so much" you breathed out with a huge smile. You didn't say those three words very often with Dean but seeing him actually admit it in public made your heart swell.
"I love you too (Y/n). Never doubt about it" he said kissing you softly.
"I won't. I promise I won't" you whispered, kissing him in the lips.
"Now, how about you take care of me doc?" he wiggled his eyebrows, saying after you both pulled away.
"Only if you take care of me, Cap" you winked at him and you had never seen Dean nod so eagerly.
Damn, you loved instagram~!
