Gabriel- Uncle
You were relaxing in your little house in the country, flipping through some channels, when there was a knock at your door. You opened it and was immediately greeted by your sister and her kids. The kids ran up to you and hugged you as tight as they could, catching you by surprise. "Hey you two. Hey (s/n- sister's name)."
"Hey y/n. You mind watching the kiddos while I go on a business trip?" She asked. You both knew what a business trip was. She was hunting something and didn't want her children to be there.
"Of course I don't," you smiled. Your nephew, Lance, or Lucky as you like to call him, smiled softly.
"We missed you, aunt y/n," he said. He was already ten years old but he absolutely loved you.
"I missed you too, kiddos," you smiled. Your niece, Trixie (LUCIFER ANYONE?), giggled softly. She was only one, so she didn't know many words other than 'mama', 'Lucky', and '(n/n)'. Oh, and 'no'. She loved the word 'no'.
Your sister disappeared out the door and you took the kids into your kitchen, where your angel boyfriend Gabriel was leaning on the counter. You walked in and Lucky picked up his sister, walking over to the barstool and sitting down like Gabriel wasn't even there. He put Trixie on the counter and she squealed out "Lucky! Lucky!" before falling on her butt and sitting there. You laughed a bit before going and kissing the perplexed angel gently.
"Hey baby," you said. He kissed back before spinning so that his back was to the kids.
"Who are the tikes?" he asked softly.
"My niece and nephew. Come on, I'll introduce you," you said softly. He nodded and you walked over to them. "Gabriel, meet my niece and nephew, Trixie and Lance. We call Lance 'Lucky', by the way. Lucky, Trixie, meet my boyfriend Gabriel."
"Gay!" Trixie shouted, causing Lucky to double over in laughter. You yourself couldn't help but laugh a bit.
Gabriel laughed a bit himself. "No, despite many accusations, I'm not gay. You're confusing me with my brother, Castiel. He's as straight as a rainbow."
Lucky laughed even harder, causing Gabe's eyes to light up a little. You always knew Gabriel loved kids. You knew from trips to the park you would take with him. A baseball or a frisbee would fall at his feet and he would smile a little, easily throwing it back and complimenting the throw with playful sarcasm. A little girl once asked us for a quarter to buy herself one of the little gum balls from a machine, and instantly Gabe stopped what he was doing to help her. His eyes would soften and he would get this adorable little smile on his face. He missed being able to care for kids. You know he did.
Lucky never really had a guy to talk to. His dad ran off before he was born, so it was really just him, your sister, and you for a while. Then your niece came around and wrapped him around her little finger. He loved her. Of course, Lucky knew how to be a gentleman and he acted like a normal boy. He still played football with his friends and rode his skateboard and got dirty playing outside. He still played his video games all night and had that carefree grin whenever he did something he loved. He just never had someone to share that with. Gabriel would be the first real man he ever really got to know.
So, after introductions, you took Trixie for a nap and left Gabriel to watch over Lucky. Gabriel was more than willing, of course. Once you were up the stairs Gabriel sat down beside Lucky.
"So, just you, your lil sis and your mom, huh?" He asked.
"Yeah," Lucky replied. "Do you have any brothers or sisters?"
"I have three big brothers and a whole bunch of little brothers and sisters. I'm not really close with any of them," Gabriel said. He didn't know if Lucky knew he was an archangel and he didn't want scare him.
"I want a brother. I love Trixie, but she keeps wanting me to play with her dolls, but I want to play football and soccer. Mom says she can't play with me so I have to play by myself," Lucky said. Gabriel got an idea.
"I'll play with you," he said. Lucky's eyes lit up.
"Really??" He cried. Gabriel laughed softly.
"Yeah. I'm not that old. We can play a little football if you want," Gabriel said. "My big bros never played with me either. They made fun of me when I asked them to play. They said 'Gabriel you are too old! Playing is for children! Blah blah blah...'," he said this in a nasally nagging voice, being rewarded with a soft giggle from the boy. "In my opinion, you are never too old to play. They didn't believe that. Pretty mean, huh?"
"Yeah. If I had a little brother I would play with him all the time!" Lucky smiled. He was already out of his seat and grabbing his football. Gabriel chuckled and took off his outer jacket, leaving him in a tee shirt so that he wouldn't get too hot and could move around more.
"I played with my little brothers a lot, though. My little brother Cas kicked me and broke my thumb," Gabriel grinned. "So now I can do this." He held up his thumb and popped it out of place before popping in back in. Lucky shrieked and laughed in surprise.
"That's really weird!" He cried. Gabriel chuckled a little. "Come on!" The 10 year old grabbed Gabriel's hand and pulled him into the backyard. "Tackle?"
"Obviously."
With that the two began their little game. Gabriel kept his pace slow, just above a quick jog. He let Lucky get close... Closer... And then with a burst of speed or a sudden stop, he lost the boy and began a new chase. Lucky would squeal and laugh, racing after him with childish energy. Eventually, Gabriel 'lost' his balance and fell. Lucky grabbed the ball and went to run away, but Gabriel was easily back on his feet and chasing him. The archangel would reach out and teasingly grab at the boy's shirt, causing Lucky to shriek and run faster. Right before he made a 'touchdown', Gabriel grabbed him around the waist and picked him up. "Gotcha!" He cried.
Lucky laughed and yelped. "Gabe!" he laughed, holding the ball to himself while the archangel grabbed him and held him gently to his chest.
"Lucky!" Gabriel teased. Then he tickled the boy's stomach briefly, hearing child-like laughter erupt from Lucky immediately. After a moment, he pulled his hand back and set Lucky on his own two feet. "You ready for another round?" He asked. Lucky nodded and took off, starting the whole thing over again.
While you were rocking Trixie to sleep, you looked out to window to find the source of the laughter. You saw your boyfriend running around with your nephew, looking like he was having the time of his life. You looked down at the pretty little girl in your arms, who was sucking her thumb. "Who's a big old softie for Lucky? Uncle Gabey is a big old softie for Lucky..."
