You can't remember why you and Chuck decided to go to the bar on karaoke night, but you're glad that you did.

The dim lighting adds to the atmosphere, where the scent of drinks and cigarette smoke wafts through the crowd. Chuck sits next to you, a beverage in his hand and a smile on his face. In return, you beam brightly at him and swirl your own drink in your hand.

The song changes again as a new singer steps up to the plate. Everyone cheers for him before he begins singing.

"Maybe you should try," Chuck suggests with a smirk.

You laugh, "Only if you do too."

"Maybe I will," he shrugs.

You raise your eyebrow and take a sip from your glass, "Really? In that case, we have a deal. I'll go first."

When your turn comes, you're nervous and shaking. Trying to steady your wildly beating heart, you inhale deeply and focus on Chuck's face in the crowd.

You sing beautifully to your favourite song, managing to not make a complete fool of yourself. Roaring cheers greet you as you finish with a chuckle and a low bow.

Chuck gets on his feet and cheers the loudest. Blushing you make your way to Chuck, "How was that?"

He hands you your drink and leans in to shout over the noise of the bar to say, "You were amazing! By far the best yet."

"Now it's your turn," you tell him, giving him a gentle push to the stage. "Good luck, Chuckie!"

He swallows, and finds a path through the crowd. He's nervous, understandably, and he doesn't want to screw up in front of you.

Although unbeknownst to you, he likes you. He loves hanging out with you and he loves it when you read his manuscripts, encouraging him to be the best he can be.

Chuck chose the song Superman by R.E.M. to sing. It's a song he's very familiar with and one of your favourites as well.

You clap loudly, and wait for him to start.

He begins the song, his voice wavering a bit from stage fright, but he gets over it right away. You laugh and cheer as he sings wonderfully.

"If you go a million miles away I'll track you down girl," he sings, eyes landing right on you. "Trust me when I say I know the pathway to your heart. I am, I am superman, and I know what's happening."

You blush again. Having known Chuck for a very long time, you've developed a crush on the sweet author. Afraid that you'd ruin your friendship, you haven't said anything to him about your feelings.

His eyes meet yours, and you can't help but melt inside as he continues. You desperately want to tell him that you love him, but what if he doesn't feel the same way?

He finishes the song and people start to clap. Launching to your feet, you clap and cheer loudly as he bows and then comes back to you.

"Wow, Chuck!" You lean in so that he can hear you over the noise pollution in the bar, "I didn't know you could sing like that! You were awesome!"

He blushes, "Thanks Y/n."

Chuck nervously takes a big gulp of his beverage, clearly nervous.

"What's wrong Chuck?" You ask, concerned.

He shyly smiles, "N-nothing. I just wanted to- to tell you something..."

"Yeah?" You question with a laugh.

"I-I wanted to say, that I really like you Y/n. As in more than a friend. Way more than a friend in fact. And I understand if you don't-"

"Woah, Chuck, slow down." You command, trying to process what just rushed out of his mouth.

He stops talking and stares into your e/c eyes.

"Y-you like me? Really?"

"Yes."

You breath out a breath you didn't realize you were holding, "Chuck, I like you too! I've been too scared to say anything."

"Wait, really?" He says hopefully.

You laugh, "Yeah."

Before you can say anything else, he smashes his lips against yours in a sudden move of passion. Stunned, you kiss him back just as forcefully.

When you break away for air, you take out your wallet and pay for the drinks. Then, you grab Chuck's arm and practically drag him out of the bar.

"Wha-?" Chuck begins to ask, but you silence him softly as you lock your lips onto his and shove him against the side of the building.

Breaking away again, you smirk, "Let's go to your place."

He stutters his agreement, and makes his way to the car. You grin like an idiot and follow him.
