Imagine #7 - Sam and Dean Winchester
Imagine being Sam and Dean's sister and going hungry while John's out on a hunt.
A/n - this is inspired by the above picture. Also, I've never seen Scooby-Doo before. Have you?

John Winchester exits the Impala and goes to the motel front desk to pay for a room. Sam, Dean and Y/n wait in the car. Sam's playing with his toy plane while Dean reads a car magazine. Y/n is fast asleep in the backseat beside Sam, her head leaning against the window.
John caught wind of a hunt a few hours away from this motel, so he packed his kids up and set off to hunt a monster.
Walking back to the car, John opens the door and nods to Dean and Sam to unpack. He goes to the car's back door and slowly opens it. He lifts her up, takes her into the room, and lays her on the bed.
Dean follows, carrying his bags as well as Y/n's, Sammy close behind. John gets the rest of the stuff - a shotgun, some knives, salt, and a jug of holy water just in case.
After finding a place for all the things, he pauses and looks to Dean.
"I'll be back soon, it shouldn't take long. You take care of Y/n and Sammy, and remember - shoot first, ask questions later." John commands his eldest son, handing him some cash.
He goes to the door and looks back at his children before leaving.

"Dean, where's dad?" Y/n mumbles when she wakes up.
He looks up from his magazine, "He's away on business, you know that."
She sighs, and gets out of bed to sit on the couch beside Sam. Scooby-Doo is playing on the tv in front of the couch, so she starts watching it.
Dean stands and grabs a bowl and a spoon, "Cereal?"
"Yes, please," Y/n answers, eyes still fixed on the tv screen.
He gets the breakfast and Y/n eats in silence for the most part. After she eats and gets changed, she jumps on the bed. Already bored, Y/n plays with her few toys for a bit.
"Dean?" Y/n asks, clutching her teddy bear close.
He grumbles in response, reading his magazine.
"Can we go to the park?" She bats her eyelashes and smiles.
He sighs and looks at Y/n, "Maybe later."
"But Dean, there's nothing to do!"
"Maybe Sammy'll take you."
She looks to Sam then back to Dean, "Can't we all go?"
He looks at Sammy, who nods in agreement. Outnumbered, Dean sighs, "Fine, but only for a bit."

A week passes without any sign of John. Food and cash are running low, and Dean is starting to worry. He paid for the motel room for another two weeks, leaving him with twenty or so dollars.
Dean sighs and makes some soup for dinner.
Sam looks at it with a frown, "I don't like soup, can't we have something else?"
"No. Now eat your food and stop acting like a baby," Dean retorts and hands Y/n her bowl.
Content, she sits down and eats her food while Sam does the same. Dean also sits, holding a half-empty bowl.

It's been one and a half weeks since John left the motel. Dean is starting to panic because there is hardly any food left. A few pop tarts and granola bars are all that's left.
"Here, Y/n, you need to eat," Dean hands her a pop tart.
She smiles, accepting it gratefully. Her eldest brother also hands Sam one, and then he throws out the empty box.
"Aren't you hungry, De?" Y/n asks as she nibbles her pastry.
He shakes his head, "No."
She doesn't believe him, and reaches out a hand holding half of her pastry. Dean shakes his head again and pushes the food back towards her.
"No, Y/n, you eat it, it's okay." He says even though he is hungry enough to feel the pain. His stomach growls angrily, though his siblings don't hear the noise.

One last granola bar left.
Dean hands it to Y/n, who doesn't realize the severity of the action. Sam wants to complain that he's hungry too, but he knows Dean will figure something out. He also knows that Y/n should have the last bar, seeing as she's the youngest.
"Dean, we don't have anymore food. You need to go buy some," Sam reminds his brother.
Green eyes alight with irritation, Dean whirls on his brother, "I know. I'll be back later. Watch Y/n."
Exasperatedly, he rubs his temples, his headache growing worse. He's also been feeling a bit dizzy, but he can't focus on that now. He needs to get food for his siblings.
By any means necessary.

A few more days have passed.
Dean managed to get some food, which he promptly gave to Y/n and Sammy. He's been feeling a bit nauseous, but since he can only shoplift a tiny bit of food without getting caught, he hasn't taken any food for himself.
He groans and lays down on the bed.
"De, are you okay?" Y/n asks, concerned etched in her words.
He smiles and looks at his little sister, "Of course, missy. Go watch tv, 'kay?"
She nods and does as told. Just as she sits, a knock at the door pierces the air. Dean jerks up, and cautiously goes to the door. He looks through the peephole before opening the door with obvious relief.
"Dad," he says as John walks in.
"Hey Dean, it took longer than expected. How's everyone holding up?" John asks, entering the room.
Y/n notices her dad and runs to hug him, "You're back!"
Dean smiles at his sister's enthusiasm, "Everything went good."
He's not about to admit that he's starving and that he feels sick. He's also not going to admit that he was terrified that John wouldn't make it back.
He has to be strong. If not for himself, then for the siblings that he loves more than anything else in the whole world.
