You've always been terrified of heights ever since you can remember. You think it's because you fell out of a high tree when you younger, which naturally scarred you for life.
You haven't told anyone about your phobia, but Sam and Dean figured it out. You avoid heights at all costs and have a panic attack anytime you're up high or on a bridge or a tall building.
For the most part, your brothers haven't made a big deal of it and you're grateful that they haven't. They do tease you occasionally, but they know when to stop.
Right now, you're sitting in the backseat of the Impala, listening to Sam and Dean babble on about the next hunt. You don't really pay attention.
Sighing, you look out the window at the open countryside. You had hoped to have a break from the hunting for awhile, but alas that's not happening.
"Why so glum, chum?" Whispers a friendly voice as Gabriel appears in the seat next to you.
You look to him with a smile. You've always liked Gabriel, and you enjoy spending time with him. "I just want a break from hunting for a bit. You know?"
His whiskey coloured eyes alight with mischief just as Dean notices his presence.
"What the heck are you doing here?" He growls at the archangel.
Gabriel just smirks, "I came to rescue Y/n. See you two losers later."
Before he can whisk you away without warning, you add, "I just need a bit of a break. I'll catch up with you later."
"Wait-" Before Sam can finish, Gabe has already snapped his fingers.
You find yourself sitting on a park bench next to the archangel. With a contented exhalation, you lean back and smile. "Thanks Gabe. This place is nice."
He pops a lollipop out of his mouth, "I thought you'd appreciate it."
Wind gently ruffles his hair, making it stick up in an adorable way. You can't help but think about running your fingers through his lovely brown hair.
He smirks, as if reading your thoughts, and then you remember that he can read your thoughts. Blushing, you duck your head and watch a kid kick a ball across the grassy field.
"You know what'd be fun?" He asks after a moment of sweet silent bliss.
You take the bait, "No, what?"
"You've never flown before. Not really anyways."
"...so?"
He smiles brightly, "Let's go flying. For real. I'll bust out my wings and we can go for a ride."
"Really? Like, flying in the sky?" You ask, a tab bit confused.
"No, flying underwater. Yes flying in the sky." He rolls his eyes and licks his lollipop.
Anxiety starts to blossom in your chest as you think about being so high up. "I think I'll pass."
"What? C'mon, it'll be fun!"
You shake your head, "No, no thanks."
"Why not?" He asks seriously, noticing how your attitude's changed.
"I just... don't wanna."
He frowns, "I don't understand. Why?"
"Because."
"Because why?"
"Because it's none of your business."
"Really? I think it is some of my business because it was my suggestion." He retorts.
You sigh and decide to tell him the truth, "I-I'm scared of heights, Gabe. That's why."
He blinks. "Heights? You're scared of heights, of all things?"
"Yes." You reply curtly, already hating how this conversation is going.
He pauses, as if trying to think of a solution to this perplexing issue. Sighing, you look at the clouds rolling by.
It almost would be fun to fly, but I could never do it. What if I fell? What if I hit a bird? What is a cyclone started and I got knocked out of the sky? So many things could go wrong!
"I would never drop you, you know." Gabriel says assuringly.
"I know, but still. Anything could happen."
Gabe shrugs and tosses his lollipop stick into the nearest garbage before snapping his fingers. Taking in the lovely scene of a grassy open area, you hear the distinct sound of rushing wind. Fresh air teases your hair and brings a smile to your face.
"Ta-da!" Gabriel shouts, drawing you attention back to him.
He released his wings, and made them visible so that you can see them. They are a light tan/brown colour and they are huge! You never imagined them to be so glorious.
"Wow, they're amazing!" You gasp in awe, resisting the urge to pet them.
He smirks and lifts a wing towards you, "You know you wanna."
Rolling your eyes, you accept his offer and stroke the light brown feathers. They are fluffier than you thought they'd be, but some are sleek and smooth. You run your hands over the tops and he has to bring it lower so that you can reach the tips.
"You like?"
Breathing out in wonder, you reply, "Yes, they're marvellous."
Gabriel moves his wings and suddenly launches himself into the air where he soars gracefully. You watch in awe, safely on the ground.
He waves down at you, causing you to chuckle and wave back. He does a loop and you laugh as you watch him flying without a care in the world.
After a few minutes, he lands next to you. "What do you say? I promise I won't take you too high."
You consider his offer. Surely there wouldn't be an opportunity like this again, and it couldn't hurt if he didn't go high.
"I don't know..." Glancing at his pleading puppy-dog eyes, you give in. "Okay, but you better not drop me and you can't go too high."
He beams and lifts you without warning. Before you know it, you are soaring approximately ten feet in the air. The wind rushes against you, and you look down in fear.
"Relax, I got you," he shouts over the wind to comfort you. "Just don't look down."
"Easy for you to say!" You retort, but close your eyes anyways.
Focusing on the feeling of the wind in your hair and his arms around your waist, you actually start to relax a bit. Eyes closed, you inhale deeply and smile as Gabe soars higher.
"This is kinda fun."
"I told you it'd be fun," he answers cockily.
You chuckle, "I guess I should have listened to you."
"Wanna go higher?" He asks playfully.
You shake your head vigorously, "Heck no! Don't you dare!"
He laughs and lands back on the soft grass, releasing you in the process. You stumble a bit, but straighten up and grin at your archangel friend.
"Thanks Gabe, that was pretty cool."
"Glad you enjoyed. We should do this again sometime."
"Yeah."
"Maybe we can cure your acrophobia someday." He teases.
You roll your eyes, "Good luck with that."
He shrugs and snaps his fingers, conjuring two lollipops. He hands you one and you pop it into your mouth. Then, you stand and watch the sun set below the hills in the distance.
