Imagine #6 - Gadreel

Imagine being in a coma and Dean begs Gadreel to help you because Cas has lost his grace.

A/n - let's pretend that Gadreel didn't kill Kevin yet. Heck, let's pretend Kevin's not here for this whole thing.

You know something's wrong, but you can't quite put your finger on it. Currently, you're sitting on a chair in Bobby's house, looking out the window towards the front yard. It's silent, so silent that it's borderline creepy. But, at the same time, you're relaxed.

You watch the trees blow in the wind and readjust your position on the armchair.

Sam and Dean aren't here, which is funny because they never let you, their little sister, out of their sight.

Maybe that's why it feels like something's wrong.

You also haven't seen Bobby, which is odd because you're in his house. This place has been like a home to you for so many years and now it just feels empty.

Shifting your attention back to the window, you sit and wait for something to happen.

Dean's been worried sick about his little sister. She's been in a coma for months now and shown no signs of improvement.

His only hope is the angel that healed his brother.

He looks to Sam, "Sam, we gotta do something about Y/n."

"I know, but I don't know what we can do. Cas can't help, and we don't exactly know anyone else who can help."

Dean shakes his head, "We do know someone else."

"Who?"

Dean coughs and mumbles, "Gadreel."

"What was that?" Sam raises his eyebrow.

"I said 'Gadreel'." At a sour look from Sam, he continues, "C'mon Sammy! He's our only chance! You know I wouldn't suggest it unless it was the only way. Sam, she's not getting better, and I'm scared she'll get worse before Cas gets his mojo back."

Sam grits his teeth and sighs. He knows that the situation is dire. He also knows that Dean would never do this if there were any other way.

"You're right. But how do we know he'll even help?"

He frowns, "We don't." Then, he shrugs and closes his eyes, "Gadreel, I don't know if you're listening, but we need your help...please. It's important."

You feel tempted to go outside and enjoy the sunshine, so you stand and walk to the door. Hand on the knob, you open the door. Only, you're not greeted with Bobby's yard. Instead, you're faced with a scene of a young girl crying in her closet as her father yells at her oldest brother.

You slam the door quickly. What is happening?

Opening the door again, you see a different memory of your past. This time, the young version of you swings on a swing and the young versions of your brothers push younger you higher and higher.

Smiling, you watch them play before a voice gains your attention.

"Hello, Winchester." His voice is unfeeling, but not uninviting.

You'd recognize the intimidating voice of Death anywhere. Turning to face him, your smile fails and your heart grows heavy.

"Death. Why are you here?" You ask, wishing that you had a weapon of some sort.

He leans against a cane and observes you without any hint of emotion on his face. "You know why."

You exhale shakily, "No, it's not... it's not my time yet."

"Y/n, I had thought you'd want this. After all, you've always wanted peace, and now it has come." He drawls slowly.

A tear rolls down your cheek, "I can't leave them."

"You deserve this Y/n. You deserve to rest."

"No! I can't go yet!" You argue, swiping away the tears.

He sighs and shakes his head, "Tell you what, I'll give you some time, and if you don't wake up before then, I'll reap you."

You inhale sharply, "Why would you do that?"

"Let's just say I may have taken a liking to you. You're a Winchester after all, but you still know your place. Goodbye Y/n." He says before vanishing.

And you're left alone again.

"I'm here Dean," Gadreel announces as he appears in front of him. "What do you want?"

Dean looks up to him from his position on a chair in the corner of the room that holds the bed where Y/n lays. "Gadreel. First of all, thanks for healing Sam."

"Of course, I told you I would."

"Yes, and thanks for that. I know it's a lot to ask, but Y/n-"

"Our sister," adds Sam.

"-She needs help. She's been in a coma for months and she hasn't gotten better."

"We were hoping that maybe you could help?" Sam finishes.

The angel observes them quietly and then focuses on Y/n. When he possessed Sam, he always liked Y/n. She was kind and smart and brave.

"Of course I'll help Y/n." Gadreel replies and places his hand on her head.

Lonely.

It's lonely here, you realize as you watch yet another sad memory play out in your mind. This is when you lost dad. You've watched this one over and over again, but you can't seem to stop watching it.

"Y/n," you hear a voice say. You recognize the voice of Gadreel and wonder what he's doing here.

Turning, you face him. "You're not a memory."

"No, I am not."

"Why are you here?" You ask him.

"I'm healing you, but you need to wake up if it's gonna work."

You frown thoughtfully, "I don't know."

"What do you mean?" He questions in confusion.

"What if Death was right? I've always wanted it to be over, to be able to relax and not have the fate of the world in my hands. This is my chance."

His eyes pierce your own, "Y/n, don't talk like that. Think about your brothers. They need you - alive."

"They can manage without me. All I ever do is make them worry."

"Y/n, please. You know that isn't true."

You look at him, "I'm scared Gadreel."

"I know you are, but I'll help you. You'll always have me, you know that." He reassures you.

You walk to him and stare into his eyes. He looks at you in earnestness and wraps his arms around you as you cry.

~

You open your eyes and stare at the ceiling as you hear someone talking. Your head hurts as you sit up and look around.

"Y/n!" Dean yells, embracing you. Sam also shouts your name and hugs you.

"Hey, need to breathe here," you mumble, pushing the big moose off.

"Heh, sorry," he says as he gives you space.

You smile at them. Then, you turn to Gadreel, "Thank you Gadreel. I won't forget this."

"Neither will we," Dean says.

Gadreel nods before disappearing. The soft echo of fluttering wings tells you that he's flown away.
