You open your door to find two handsome men in suits about to knock. They look at you startled, but you simply open the door wide to let them enter.
They share a puzzled look and walk in slowly.
"Tea? Coffee?" You ask, leading them to the living room adjacent to the kitchen.
"Um, coffee would be great," the shorter one says.
"Water is fine," the taller one says in response to your questioning gaze.
Smiling, you prepare their drinks and bring them to the coffee table. The men thank you as you seat yourself in front of where they sit on the couch.
"I'm Dean Winchester-" he frowns and looks confused before chuckling and trying again. "No, I mean I'm Dean Winchester-"
You smirk at his confusion.
The tall one tries this time, pulling out a badge, "I'm Sam Winchester-"
You peer at the badge, "You're trying to say 'Agent Babar', aren't you?"
He looks flustered as Dean attempts to speak again, "Yes, we're not real FBI agents."
He glares at nothing in particular, annoyed that he can't lie.
Humming, you nod and sip your beverage. "I'm Y/n, the Angel of Truth."
"Angel of Truth?"
You grin and nod, "That's my professional title. I make sure that the balance between truth and lie is maintained."
"What does that mean?"
"If someone is harbouring a secret that could or does harm someone or themselves, I make sure that the truth is uncovered," you explain. "A perk of the job is that no one can lie to me, although that does suck sometimes."
They stare at you blankly.
"So, how'd you find me?" You smile widely. This is the most exciting thing that's happened to you lately.
"Uh, Castiel said you might help, but he didn't mention you were an angel."
"Cassy sent you?!" Squealing in excitement, you look around in excitement, "Is he coming here?"
"I'm not sure," Sam says. "If Dean prayed to him he might show up."
Dean shoots a glare at his brother who shrugs unapologetically.
You stare at Dean with hopeful eyes.
He sighs and closes his eyes for a split second before Castiel appears. You grin madly, leaping to your feet and embracing him.
"Cassy! It's been so long! How are you?"
He looks around uncomfortably. He's never been much of a hugger.
"Uh, not that great."
Sam and Dean fix their gazes on him in confusion. He told them just this morning that he was fine.
You nod sympathetically, "That sucks bro. But you're here now and I'm so happy to see you!"
"I'm . . . not all that happy to see you. I don't have . . . time for this," he answers, pain evident on his face as he tells the agonizing truth.
"Oh," your face falls and you look away.
Sam and Dean stare in shock at their angel friend, who just clearly hurt his sister's feelings.
"I'm sorry," Cas states sadly, "But I can't lie to you."
You nod, forcing a smile, "I know. It just sucks sometimes. Anyways, don't let me keep you back, but could you visit soon? Balthazar and Samandriel used to visit all the time, but I haven't seen them for awhile."
Castiel opens his mouth to say something just as panic filters across his face. He disappears before he can speak.
You frown and look at the remaining boys, "What was that about?"
At their panicked faces, you shake your head, "Forget it. If Cas wanted me to know then he would've told me. So, how can I help you guys?"
"Cas suggested that you might be able to help us get the truth out of someone," Sam explains.
You nod, "Yeah, sure I can help. Just tell me where to go and we'll be there in a flash."
"We need to drive, I can't leave Baby," Dean confesses earnestly.
You chuckle, "Fine by me."
~
Dean drove, Sam sat shotgun, and you occupied the back. No one really talked much, mainly because of the inability to lie.
You talked a bunch, happy to have company for once. Usually you're all alone, so you jump on the opportunity to talk.
At the bunker, you find yourself face to face with someone you haven't seen in a long time.
"Luci! I didn't know you got out of the Cage!"
He's chained up on a chair inside a large symbol, head hanging low. At your voice, his head snaps up.
"Her? Really?!" He whines, looking to Sam and Dean.
A pang of sadness pierces you. "You're not happy to see me, Luci?"
He winces at the pain in your voice, "Not really, I mean, you're like the hardest person to talk to. No hard feelings?"
You sigh, looking down and breathing deeply. "It's alright. I know that no one likes talking to me. Everyone hates the truth when it's all they can say."
Sam and Dean stand beside you awkwardly, not knowing what to do. They want to comfort you but they're not sure how. Sam pats your shoulder and you smile gratefully at him.
"Anyways, what's your plan?" You question your brother.
He sighs, "I already told these idiots exactly what I had planned!"
Dean looks bewildered, "You were telling the truth?"
"Yes! I may be the 'deceiver', but I don't lie all the time!"
Sam's lips twitch into a semi-smirk, "Wow, I can't believe it."
Luci sneers and mimics him.
You roll your eyes, "There you go. Anyways, I'll be off now. I've annoyed enough people for today."
Before you can leave, Dean speaks, "Hey! If you ever need anything, someone to talk to, you're always welcome here."
A genuine smile adorns your expression, "Thanks, Dean. I appreciate it."
