Your fingers thrum against wood, producing a clicking noise as each fingernail lands on the table. Patience wearing thin, you glance at your watch for the umpteenth time tonight. You sip your drink as you wait for your date to show.
You met him on a hunt. In fact, you saved his life from a particularly angry werewolf. He was very grateful and he was also very handsome. He seemed like a nice guy, so when he asked you out, you agreed.
Now, you're regretting it.
Being five minutes late is forgivable. You might even let thirty minutes slide. But an hour and thirty minutes is way past forgiveness, especially for a first date.
You groan in irritation as well as embarrassment. It's obvious that you've been stood up.
You pick up your glass and start to down the whole drink, ready to leave. Finished, you place the cup down and grab your purse, about to stand up. Before you can, someone clears their throat. It is a deep, low sound, which informs you that it is not your late date.
You turn to see a man with a sparse beard and moustache, wearing a fancy suit and a sly smile. In his hand, he holds a red carnation.
You sigh, and motion to the waiter for another drink. Crowley sits down across from you, "Why so glum?"
His raspy voice floats over the noises of the restaurant, reaching your ears with ease. You take your drink from the waiter and gulp down some of the liquid. "You probably already know," you respond before turning to look out the window.
"I may know a lot, but I don't know everything." He smirks.
You roll your eyes and sigh again. His eyes narrow, "From the looks of it - the nice dress and the disappointment in your expression - you've been stood up."
"Ding ding ding! Give the man a prize," you deadpan and take another long drink from you glass.
"Well, I arrived right on time then." He snaps his fingers and a glass appears in his hand.
You exhale and shake your head. You can't believe that you've been stood up and now you're sharing drinks with the King of Hell. Your brothers wouldn't approve, but who cares? They're not here right now, are they?
"I suppose you did. Cheers," you clink your glass against his.
He smiles and places the red carnation on the table by your hand. You smile and take it, raising it to your nose. Inhaling in the scent, you grin as Crowley watches you closely. "It's lovely."
"Only the loveliest for you, love," he smirks, his Scottish accent almost making you swoon.
"You're such a smooth talker, Crow."
"It's one of my more amiable qualities."
"That's for sure." You chuckle and fiddle with the flower.
He smiles back at you, "I'm surprised."
"Oh?"
"Yes, how could anyone in their right mind give up a date with you?"
You search his eyes for any sign of jest, but all you see is seriousness. "You're not joking? Me, the unrefined hunter? Sister to two idiots. A girl that likes to shoot first and ask questions later? Why would anyone in their right mind even consider going on a date with me?"
"Well, I think you're a catch," he chuckles, sending you a wink.
You laugh, "You're such a flirt." His compliments do make you feel good, especially after the let down of your failed date. "To tell you the truth, you're not so bad yourself. You are a king. Albeit, you are a demon, that's a bit of a downer. Although, the accent almost makes up for it..."
He smirks at your teasing, "You like my accent?"
"Yes, it's one of your defining qualities," you chuckle. "Would you sing I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) for me? You'll really nail it with that accent of yours."
"In your dreams."
"Aww, please?" You give him the puppy dog eyes you and Sam are famous for.
He shakes his head, "Never."
"Well, maybe my dream will come true someday."
"You might be able to convince me to break into song one day, depending."
You take the bait, "Depending on what?"
"Depending on if you agree to go on a date with me."
"Crow, are you asking me out?" You smile, still holding the flower.
"Yes. And what is your answer?" He quirks his brow.
"Seeing as you saved me from a lonely night, I think a date would be fitting." You lean in close, "You know, the night doesn't have to end here... My brothers are gone for the night."
You send him a flirtatious wink and stand up.
"So, Crow. You in?" You ask, sending a glance back towards him.
He grins and comes to stand beside you. He offers his arm to you and you take it, chuckling at how gentlemanly he can be.
"Of course," he replies as you pay for the drinks and walk out.
