Balthazar x Reader

Imagine wearing the hellhound glasses and being able to see Balthazars wings and finding that they're almost always wrapped protectively around you.

(Reader POV)

I had never gotten on well with Balthazar. Actually... He's the one that had never gotten on with me; always picking arguments and faults with my hunting. I'd started to just ignore his snide comments and jibes, but this seemed to rile him even more, and the comments increased. Occasionally I notice Sam and Dean sharing knowing looks, but I just ignore them as well.

Sam had just called us into the library to brief a new case, but just as I walk in, I notice none other than the attractive Angel himself. Yes, he is very attractive, and I had hoped that I may have had a chance with the thief, but that hope was starting to fade and be replaced with thoughts of how he could ever like me. Shaking my head, I pulled myself back into the room, to notice I was holding Balthazar's stare. I stuck my tongue out childishly and broke away to stand the other side of Sam.

(Balthazar's POV)

My father, look at (Y/N). Does s/he/they realise how amazing s/he/they look(s) in plaid? Of course, s/he/they always looks good, but with her/his/their hair in a mess from sleep it just accentuates it. Maybe it's time I said something... Of course not you stupid Angel, why would s/he/they  ever like you? You're a thief and are constantly picking arguments with her/him/them! The fights are the only way to get her/his/their attention, though.

I quickly pull out of my thoughts, and realise (Y/N) is staring at me. Before I can ask her/him/them to talk with me alone, she/he/they stick(s) her tongue out and walks away. She's/he's/they're always so childish, and I love that about her/him/them. Urgh, why can't I just tell her/him/them?

(Reader POV)

Turns out we've got a rogue crossroads demon on our hands. Great. Sam has already got his and Dean's glasses, and sends me to get a pair. Balthazar refuses, claiming "My eye sight is /perfect/ thanks".

In 10 minutes Sam had sorted my hipster glasses and we were about to set off.

"You sure (Y/N)'s glasses are going to work?" It had taken a bit to persuade Dean to allow me to come in the first place, and he wanted to make sure I would be entirely safe.

"Dean-" Sam began, trying to reason with his brother.

"It's ok. I'm sure we'll find out."

"No. Didn't Cas say something about being able to see Angel wings with them as well? Well Balthazar's here, he can be the puppet. Balthazar!" Dean tried to call him to attention, without success. Dean, Sam, and I shrugged, and I put the glasses on.

I opened my eyes, and saw a dark shadow around me. This was the first time I'd used hellhound glasses, and so I deemed the shadow normal. I looked over to Balthazar and my breath hitched. Balthazar's wings protruded from his back as a dark shadow, with the odd feather visible from a darker outline. I followed the length of his wings with my eyes, which widened even more as I saw that the dark shadow around me was actually Balthazar's wings.

The wings jerked slightly, and I looked up to find Balthazar looking at me, a range of emotions in his eyes: anger, guilt, curiosity. I wondered at the last one, but didn't dwell on it.

"(Y/N)? Do they work?" I heard Sam from next to me. I blinked and looked away from Balthazar's gaze, and took the glasses off.

"Yeah... They work." I reassured the brothers, still trying to get my breathing back to normal.

"(Y/N)? I need to talk to you. In private." You heard Blathazar say, before he ushered me into the hall.

"Bal, it's ok. I'm not going to tell-" I began, but he cut me off.

"It's not that, though that would be appreciated. It's.... I can't hold it back anymore. I love you. Okay? And I've been trying to get you to notice me, just in case I had the slightest chance of you even thinking you could want me that way. But, I love you." Balthazar finished and held my gaze. For the second time today my breath hitched.

"So... All the arguments and fights, insults and jibes... I'm sorry I ignored you. You could have said this earlier though, you know?" Balthazar's head twitched slightly to the side in confusion. "I love you too, you dork." I grinned at Balthazar's own smile. He leant down and pecked my lips gently, before pulling away and leaving fireworks exploding in my stomach and mind.

"So what did you think of my wings?" Balthazar smirked. So that explains the curiosity in his eyes earlier.

"A little shadowy." I pulled him back down to kiss him properly.

Walking hand in hand back into the library, Balthazar leaned down to whisper into my ear.

"I'll show you my wings properly later." I looked up to see Balthazar wink at me.

The hunt went without a hitch, with Balthazar's wings wrapped protectively around me the entire time, keeping me safe. And he kept good on his promise to show me his wings properly....

A/N: Apologies for the lack of updates, writers block is horrible. I know this wasn't quite up to scratch but I needed something to kick start my writing again.
