You have one eye that is the color of your soulmates
You took in a deep breath as you rolled over in your bed, turning off the alarm that just woke you up. You sat up and stretched, rubbing the sleep out of your eyes. You got out of bed and grabbed some clothes before taking a shower.
A bit later, you got out of the shower and got dressed before taking a closer look at yourself in the mirror. You looked straight into your eyes in the mirror, taking in their color. One of your eyes was Y/E/C but the other was a deep navy blue with bright gold accents.
One eye color was the color that you were born with, the other was the color of your soulmate's eyes. It was a way for you to find your soulmate. You had pretty much given up hope that you would ever find your soulmate though. After all, who could possibly be born with such an intricate blue and gold design in their eyes.
You felt jealous of people who had found their soulmate. It had been something you had dreamed of since you were a kid when your parents would tell you about how they found each other. The idea of someone being created perfectly to be your other half intrigued you and you knew that if you could just find who your soulmate was, you would find happiness.
But, despite your best efforts to find your soulmate, you never did. Eventually, you stopped trying. You got comfortable in the house you lived in and worked your everyday job as a park ranger.
You were straightening your uniform that you had on and grabbed your hat before heading towards work. When you arrived, you got out of your car and saw one of your co-workers a bit away. You greeted them before starting your daily routine of walking the area to make sure nothing was out of place.
You liked to walk as far out as you could, ensuring that you were thorough with your job. You began walking and got lost in your thoughts, just taking in the beauty of the nature that surrounded you. When, suddenly, you tripped over something hard and hit the ground.
You groaned as you stood back up, dusting off your knees before turning around. You expected to see a dead animal on the ground, as it happened quite frequently, but you let out a loud gasp as you saw that it was an unconscious man. You quickly dropped back down to the ground and took in his appearance. He looked as if he had been in a fight.
He was lying on his back, his eyes shut and his clothes torn. You quickly checked his pulse and let out a breath of relief as you found one. It was barely there, but it meant he was still alive. You tried to call out your co-worker's name in the hopes that they would hear you but they didn't respond.
Your voice woke the man up however as he let out a large groan. "Don't worry, sir, I'm calling an ambulance right now to help you," you reassured him, taking out your phone as you began dialing. He placed his hand on your phone, however, stopping you as he said, "No, please don't, they can't help me."
"You need medical attention," you stated, attempting to dial again, unsure if the man was in his right mind or not. But, this time, he took your phone away and looked into your eyes. He paused for a moment as he stared at your blue eye as if he recognized something about it.
But, you were sure he wasn't your soulmate because his eyes were champagne colored. "Please, I just need a place to rest. Can you help me? I have to get out of the open," he pleaded with you. He looked fearful and vulnerable and you couldn't help but feel sorry for him. "Okay, my car is just North down the road. Here are my keys, if you try anything, I'll have the cops on you in just a matter of seconds. I'll take you somewhere safe," you told him. He looked grateful as he took the keys and began making his way toward your car.
As he turned around you felt your heart stop beating as you saw beautiful, large wings coming from the man's back that were the same color as your eye. You were mesmerized by them as so many questions raced through your mind. Why did he have wings? Why are they the same color as your eye? Could he be your soulmate - it's impossible, right?
You decided to quickly finish your scan of the area and then you made your way back to your co-worker. You explained to him that you finished your scan but that you weren't feeling well and he offered to cover the rest of your shift.
You graciously thanked him for covering your shift and then made your way to your car. The mysterious man was sitting in the passenger seat looking exhausted. You got in your car and looked at the man. "Do you want food or water or anything?" you asked him. "No, I should be fine once I get some rest in a safe place," he replied with a small smile.
You wanted to ask him about his wings, but you decided now was not the time. You had your gun strapped into your uniform and kept yourself alert in case the man tried to do anything the whole drive back to your home.
When you got home, you led him inside and motioned towards the couch. "Get some rest and then I want answers," you told him. He nodded his head in agreement as he practically collapsed onto your couch and passed out. You sat down on the chair across from him as you watched him sleep.
The wings you had seen earlier had disappeared and you were beginning to think you had just imagined them. You laughed to yourself as you re-evaluated the situation. This man was a complete stranger who looked like he had been in a fight, was found in the middle of the woods, and didn't want help from an ambulance. Red flags were everywhere, yet you couldn't bring yourself to turn your back on him.
You didn't know what it was about him, you just had a feeling, deep inside of you that you were meant to find him today.
You stayed there for a bit before deciding to get up and cook yourself some dinner. You had just finished eating when you heard movement back in the living room. You made your way back to the room and found the man sitting up on the couch now, looking refreshed. You noticed now that you were not hallucinating in the woods as the wings were outstretched behind him.
"You're awake," you said with a small smile, sitting in the same chair you had been in earlier. "Thank you for your hospitality," he replied. "How do you feel?" you asked him. "A lot better," he responded honestly. "Good, what's your name?" you questioned. "Gabriel," he replied.
When he said it you felt shivers go down your spine. You took a moment to take in the man's appearance and couldn't help but find him quite attractive. "I'm Y/N. What were you doing out in the woods?" you responded. "I was attacked by one of my brother's. My brother's can get a little angry when things don't go their way. But, there's no reason for you to be afraid of me," he reassured you.
"What's the deal with your wings?" you asked him. He looked shocked as he froze in place. "You can see them?" he asked. "Yeah, they're huge. It's really hard to miss them. Is that part of a costume or something?" you questioned.
He seemed to be deep in thought as he muttered, "Of course you can see them. I should have known from your eyes." "Is there something I should know?" you asked him, confused as he seemed to be lost in his own little world. His eyes snapped up to meet yours. "Do you believe in supernatural creatures?" he asked you.
"I believe there are things out there that we can't always explain," you replied. "Would you believe me if I told you I was an angel?" he questioned. "An angel? Like a full celestial being that God created himself? No offense. but besides the wings, your outfit doesn't exactly convince me," you responded.
He let out a small laugh at your words and then said, "Well we have to blend in with humans somehow." You chuckled at that but then saw the serious look on his face. He gave you a small smirk and wiggled his eyebrows before snapping his fingers. You were suddenly transported to the colosseum in Rome and in another snap of his fingers you were back to your house.
You gasped in shock as you yelled, "What the hell was that?!" "Proof," he replied nonchalantly. "Wait...so you're...but how?" Your mind felt like it was going full speed as you tried to make sense of what was happening. You didn't even know angels actually existed. As you tried to answer every question that came to your mind, you were only left with one that you couldn't answer.
"Why are your wings the same color as my eye?" you asked him. "Angels work differently than humans. Our appearance changes based on the vessel we possess. The only thing that keeps the same look is our wings. Therefore, when an angel has a soulmate, their soulmate's eye color isn't the same as their eyes, it's the same as their wings," he explained.
"Then that would make you...," you began. "Your soulmate," he finished for you. You were confused at first but a smile slowly began to form on your face as you felt happiness overtake you. You thought it was impossible to find your soulmate and now you knew why.
You had so many things you needed explained and you were sure Gabriel could explain them all. But, right now, you were just embracing the moment of having finally found the person, or creature, that you were supposed to be with.
Gabriel suddenly stood up from the couch and offered his hand out to you. "May I officially ask you out on a date?" he questioned. You laughed at him before placing your hand in his. "Yes," you replied as he pulled you to his feet.
His smirk grew to a smile as he told you, "Hold on." You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion and he suddenly transported you to a restaurant. You laughed at his gesture and couldn't help but enjoy the rest of the night with him. And, you were excited for the many more nights to come now that you had finally found your soulmate.
Always Keep Fighting!
