{78} Dean Winchester (Part 2)

You woke up the next morning with the events of yesterday replaying in your mind. You had so many emotions inside that you needed to get out. So, you grabbed your journal and began writing. At first you were just writing how you felt but it turned into song lyrics. You titled the song "Die From A Broken Heart" and began writing the melody in your head, humming the notes to yourself.

"Hey," Luke said, suddenly at the door to the room. He had a sandwich in his hand and a glass of water and handed both of them to you. You graciously took both items from him, eating the sandwich and drinking the glass of water.

"Thank you," you told him as you finished eating. "Of course," he replied with a warm smile. "Do you by chance have a guitar?" you asked him, wanting to hear how the melody that you just made up sounded on an actual instrument. Luke nodded his head in response and asked, "Do you play?"

"Yes, it's one of my favorite things to do," you responded. Luke looked surprised but pleased with your answer. "Do you mind if I borrow your guitar?" you questioned. "Not at all," he replied, leaving your room with your dishes in his hand.

He placed your dishes in the sink and grabbed his guitar, bringing it back to your room. He did a quick tune check and then passed the guitar to you. You took it from him and began playing out the melody you had created only a few minutes ago. "Do you write your own music too?" he asked, noticing the way you kept looking down at your journal every so often while you played.

Before you could respond he said, "I write my own music, whenever I get time to." "These days, I only write music when I really need to get my emotions out. I wish I had the time to write a song just for the fun of it, but I've been too busy. I think the last time I wrote a song that wasn't an outlet for emotions was eight years ago," you admitted.

He wore a sad smile at your words but nodded his head in understanding. "What's your song about?" he questioned, a curious look dancing in his eyes. Instead of telling him, you passed him your journal so that he could read the lyrics himself.

He could never understand the true gravity of the situation. He didn't know Dean, and he had just met you last night. But, he could understand the emotion behind the song. That was what music was supposed to do. Even if people didn't understand the full story behind your words, the goal was to make them feel the way you were feeling when you wrote the song. Judging by the look that Luke had on his face while he was reading the lyrics, he felt those emotions, at the very least, he understood them.

When he was finished reading the words you had written, he handed you back your journal and asked, "Were you at the bar last night because of this?" He understood the song enough to know something bad had happened between you and someone you loved.

You only nodded your head in response. Luke placed a gentle hand on your shoulder before saying, "It seems crazy that anyone would break up with someone as beautiful as you." A small blush rose to your face at his words and you replied, "Thank you, but it wasn't really a break-up. We were never together. I was in love with him, but he never felt the same way, and then he just walked out of my life."

"Well, now I know he's definitely crazy," Luke joked making you laugh. "Well, I have to start getting ready for work," Luke told you. "Mind if I tag along with you? I don't really feel like sitting inside all day," you said.

"Of course you can come," he stated with a bright smile. You both got ready and Luke drove the both of you to the bar you were at last night. You sat in the same spot from last night. "Let me guess, a whiskey?" Luke asked, making you chuckle. "If you have any left after last night," you replied. "Hmm, I'm not sure. Let me check the back," Luke responded with a wink, walking a bit away from you.

As he walked away, you looked around the bar and noticed a stage across from you. Was that there last night? "Looks like it's your lucky day," Luke told you as he held up the bottle of whiskey. You smiled at him before asking, "Do you guys really have karaoke nights?"

Luke shook his head no, passing the glass of whiskey to you. "We have live music nights. Actually, tomorrow is a live music night" Luke said. "Who performs?" you questioned. "Anyone can perform, but it's usually the same few people, including me," he answered, making you smirk. "I'm definitely coming to watch you perform tomorrow," you stated.

He had a small blush on his cheeks, but laughed it off. "You should perform tomorrow," he suggested. You laughed at his suggestion and told him, "I haven't performed in over eight years." A sad smile found its way to your lips as memories of performing at the Harvelle Roadhouse with Sam and Dean cheering you on flashed back into your mind.

"And that was a small roadhouse, not in the City of Music where people come to get famous," you added, making him laugh. "Well, there's something you should know about me, Y/N. I am a man of my word and I promise you right now that I'm going to find a way to get you to perform tomorrow," he replied.

You shook your head at his words as you took a drink of your whiskey. "Good luck with that," you replied.

~Time Skip: Two Months~

"You ready?" you asked Luke. "Yeah, are you?" he countered. "A little nervous, but yeah, I'm ready," you responded. "You're going to do great, baby," your boyfriend, Justin, told you. Since that first night you had met Luke, your entire life got turned around.

Luke managed to convince you to perform that night at the bar, you had to hand it to him, he was a man of his word. You've been performing at the bar ever since. You continued to live with Luke, your bond with him only growing.

You had met your current boyfriend, Justin, about two weeks ago at the bar. Luke didn't approve of your relationship with Justin and you weren't really sure why. "You're up first," Luke told you, pulling you away from your thoughts.

"Okay," you replied, taking in a deep breath as you made your way to the stage. You began playing the beginning chords of your song called, "Hole in the Bottle." It was the crowd favorite of your collection. Everyone always went crazy when you sang it.

When you were finished playing that song and a few others, it was Luke's turn to perform. You sat down next to your boyfriend Justin as Luke took the stage. "Hey everyone, this song is called "Singles You Up"," he said before beginning to play. This was a song you hadn't heard him perform before.

I ain't heard you laugh like that in a long time.

I wonder if you stopped his world like you did mine.

You listened to the words he sang, and you were confused. The way he looked at you while he sang made you feel like there was something deeper he was trying to tell you. As he sang the chorus to the song, you finally understood.

If he ever singles you up, if he's ever stupid enough

I'ma be the first one calling you baby

If he ain't holding you tight, if he ain't treating you right

I'ma be the first one calling him crazy

You understood why Luke didn't like your relationship with Justin now. He had feelings for you, and you would be lying if you said you didn't have feelings for him. You only started dating Justin because you didn't think that Luke felt that way about you and you didn't want to jeopardize your friendship with him.

You broke up with Justin later that night, and after a long discussion with Luke about your feelings for each other, the two of you started dating. You and Luke were super happy together, living in Nashville and performing at the bar. It was the happiest you had been in a long time. But, you still missed the Winchesters and the life you used to have.

~

You were in the back room of the bar, getting ready to perform. You did your pre-show routine, planning on opening with "Hole in the Bottle". Meanwhile, Luke was in the front of the bar, bartending.

Two men walked into the bar, one was taller than the other with long hair. The other had short hair and wore a leather jacket. Both men wore flannel, but that wasn't really out of the ordinary. The bar was in Tennessee after all.

"Hey, what can I get you guys?" Luke asked as the two men sat down at the bar. "Two beers, please," the shorter man said. Luke handed them their beers as you walked onto the stage, beginning your song. "Yeah baby!" Luke cheered, making you smile from your spot on stage. With the bright light, you couldn't really see anybody in the bar, but you recognized his voice.

"After this beer, we're leaving Sammy," Luke heard the shorter man say to the other. He had his back turned to the stage, chugging his beer. "I think we should stay, Dean," the taller one responded.

Dean gave Sam a bitch face before saying, "Come on Sam, look at this place-." Before Dean could say anything else, Sam spun his brother around and pointed at the stage where you sat, playing your song. Both of the Winchesters looked shocked as you played your song, singing and dancing a bit on the stage, having the time of your life.

When your song ended, you played the song that you had written about Dean on your first night in Tennessee, "Die From A Broken Heart." After another couple of minutes, you finished the song and the crowd was cheering loudly.

You thanked the crowd before putting down your guitar and running behind the bar, pulling Luke into a kiss. He kissed back instantly, but the kiss was interrupted by a rude customer who cleared his throat. You broke away from the kiss to yell at the customer when you saw who it was. You felt like your head was spinning as you froze in your spot, looking at Dean Winchester.

Your heart sped up at the thought of having to fight off Demon Dean, but then Sam came up next to him and you knew that Dean was no longer a demon. You weren't sure how, but you didn't care, you were still mad at Dean.

"Hey," Dean said with a smirk. Luke came up behind you, wrapping his arm around your waist. You noted the jealous glare in Dean's eyes but you disregarded it. "It's nice to see you Sam," you stated, before walking away from the brothers. Dean stood there, confused as to what just happened, and then he remembered the events that went down the last time you saw Dean.

Dean let out a sigh as he downed his beer and ordered a whiskey. While the two Winchesters continued to drink, you asked Luke to dance. It had become your thing since you started performing. Whenever the both of you were done performing, you would dance to the playlist that Luke would put on.

He pulled you close as "Beautiful Crazy" by Luke Combs came on. It was yours' and Luke's song and you loved dancing with him to it. But the romance was ruined as you saw Dean sending a bitch face in your direction. What the hell was his problem?

You decided to ignore it and focus on the man who was in front of you. Your boyfriend. But, as Dean listened to the song, he couldn't help but feel how perfectly those lyrics matched his feelings towards you. You were Sam's best friend and Dean felt like the moment he admitted his feelings towards you, something bad would happen to you.

He would rather hide his feelings than lose you. So, that's exactly what he did, for years. Until you moved into the Bunker. Dean felt like things were stable enough that he could finally tell you how he felt about you.

He was working up the courage to tell you when he got the Mark of Cain. Things spun out of control ever since then. He didn't mean the words that he said. He only said them so that he could get out of the Bunker without you following him. He knew that you would never believe him. He knew there was nothing that he could say to make things right.

He wasn't sure if he should even try to. He saw how happy you were with Luke. That's all he wanted for you. He wanted to see you smile the way he made you smile. But, he couldn't help the pain his heart felt watching you dance with Luke. Even if you didn't choose to be with him, he had to tell you how he felt.

When the song ended, you and Luke went back to bartending. Dean kept trying to talk to you throughout the night. He kept trying to apologize. But, you wouldn't let him. You weren't ready to let Dean back into your life yet.

The Winchesters were still there when it was time to close and Luke had no choice but to ask them to leave. They waited outside by the Impala until you and Luke were leaving, and just as you were about to get into Luke's car, Dean called out to you, asking to talk to you for a second.

"I just want a chance to explain myself," Dean said as you walked over to him. You looked at Sam but he looked like he wanted to stay out of it. "I'm sorry Dean, I can't. What you said and what you did hurt me. Whether it was demon you or the real you, I'm not ready to forgive you. Don't you have a hunt to get to anyways?" you replied before walking back to Luke's car and getting in.

Right, the hunt. Dean pulled out his phone and dialed a number on it. "Hey Jody, it's me. I need you to handle a hunt for Sam and I okay? I'll explain later," Dean stated before hanging up the phone.

Sam looked at his older brother, confused. "Why did you ask her to take care of the hunt?" Sam asked. "We aren't leaving Nashville unless Y/N is coming with us," Dean stated, getting in the car. Sam shook his head at his brother, but decided not to say anything on the matter.

Dean had made up his mind. It was going to be a long process, but he was going to get you to talk to him. He was going to get you to start hunting with them again. Luke may have been a man of his word, but so was Dean and he made a promise to himself. One that he was going to make damn sure that he was going to keep.
