{76} Asmodeus

Imagine: You are a Knight of Hell alongside Asmodeus and eventually the two of you end up getting married. But, it seems like Asmodeus is more loyal to Lucifer than he'll ever be to you.

Month after month. Year after year. Decade after decade. They say, "The more things change the more they seem to stay the same." That was the definition of your very long life. You lost track of what day it was sometimes - what year it was. Every day you were faced with a new challenge. There was only one thing that remained constant - Asmodeus.

You and Asmodeus were created as Knights of Hell to serve Lucifer. He was a King fit for the throne of Hell and he had hand-picked both you and Asmodeus to be his first of many demons. Your small group of impressive demons was led by none other than Cain - a man that Lucifer had convinced to kill his brother in cold-blood.

You admired the way that Cain worked - the things he did. You admired how ruthless and emotionless he was. You wanted to be just as cold-hearted. That was until you started to spend more time with Asmodeus.

In your opinion, Asmodeus was the most attractive man you had seen. He was always very nice to you and his accent was a lady-killer. Being a demon didn't mean that you couldn't have fun. In fact, you and Asmodeus always had a lot of fun together.

The two of you trained together in how to fight and how to kill. Even though that training wasn't exactly "date material", it always led to alone time with you and him. During that alone time, you really got to know Asmodeus. You got to learn his entire history before you met him and he got to learn yours.

Lucifer always thought of Asmodeus as the weak link of the Knights of Hell but you thought greatly of him. You built him up when Lucifer would tear him down. You made him feel strong when Lucifer made him feel weak. You were what held him together.

After months of spending time together, you and Asmodeus began dating. You wanted to be coldhearted and emotionless, and for the most part you were. But, after studying humans, you couldn't help but feel certain things towards Asmodeus. Normally, you would brush those feelings aside, but after understanding what those feelings were, you had to admit them to him.

Luckily, he felt the same way. Though the two of you made a pact not to tell Lucifer as he would only see it as a weakness and use it against the two of you. He was the devil for a reason and his specialty was torture. Most of the time it was towards humans, but he wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty when a demon stepped out of line.

Lucifer had one goal and that goal was to lead a force of demons against the race that God, his father, had betrayed him for. Your main purpose in life - follow Lucifer and fight to the death for him.

You had been incredibly loyal to Lucifer since he created you as a Knight of Hell. His beliefs were your beliefs. His idealism was your idealism. The same went for Asmodeus. That was until Michael came and shut Lucifer down, locking him away in a cage in Hell.

No demon had the power to break him out. Because of that, your loyalty to Lucifer began to falter. You remained devout to Hell and your fellow demons but it was hard for you to remain faithful to someone who you could never see again. Asmodeus was the opposite. His faith in Lucifer only grew when he was put in the cage - vowing to figure out a way to unlock the door to the cage.

You didn't want to pry into business with the archangels as you knew they were a lot more powerful than you, but you remained faithful to Asmodeus. If there was one thing that remained the same, it was your love for him and his love for you.

Despite the differences in your outlook on the situation with Lucifer, the two of you would stand by each other and protect each other. You helped Asmodeus look high and low for any way to break Lucifer out of the cage.

But, that all came to a halt when the archangels were sent down from Heaven to kill the Knights of Hell. Asmodeus wanted to remain in Hell, feeling as though he was on the brink of discovering a way to unleash Lucifer. He wanted the glory - the gratitude - of being the one who brought the Devil back.

But, you convinced him it wasn't losing both of your lives over. He agreed with you and the two of you went into hiding, leaving the archangels behind to believe the two of you were dead.

You and Asmodeus escaped to Earth, blending in amongst the humans. You and Asmodeus bought a house and got married. You lived a relatively normal, happy life.

You lived throughout the decades, adapting to all of the different changes that humans went through. It seemed like every decade, the human race went through a different phase. You and Asmodeus were finally truly happy. And then talk of how Lucifer got out of the cage began to surface.

The more things change the more they seem to stay the same.

It had been a few years since Lucifer had apparently gotten out of the cage and Asmodeus was determined to find him. You refused. "He's been out of the cage for years and he hasn't tried to find us once! He might try to kill us if you keep prying in places he doesn't want you," you would warn him.

"He's our creator, Y/N. He's the one who made us who we are," he would defend. "He's the one who would constantly insult your power and intelligence. He claimed you were the sole demon holding the Knights of Hell back. Without me there, he would have bullied you until you were begging for death," you countered.

Lucifer constantly treated Asmodeus horribly. You never understood the loyalty that Asmodeus had for Lucifer. "He will rise to power again, Y/N. When he does, which side do you want to be on? He will kill anyone who opposes him," Asmodeus stated.

"And will you be the one who carries out my death sentence?" you questioned, crossing your arms firmly across your chest. "I could never kill you, but I cannot overpower him. If you oppose him, there will be nothing stopping him from killing the both of us. But, if you help me bring him back to his former glory, we can stand by his side as rulers of Hell," he explained.

"Lucifer is selfish and ruthless. He does not share glory with anyone or anything, especially two demons who he created. He thinks less of us than he does humans," you retorted, trying to get your husband to come to his senses.

"I am coming out of hiding. I am going back to Hell, and I will help Lucifer become the rightful King of Hell. Are you coming with me?" Asmodeus asked, hope lacing his eyes. "I can't. I'm sorry. I can't risk my life for Lucifer anymore, I won't. I love you more than anything, and I would fight to the death for you. But, no longer for him," you replied, tears streaming down your face. Asmodeus didn't say anything else as he left your house, for all you knew, leaving for good.

A day went by and then a week and still no Asmodeus. You were growing more and more depressed. He was the person that kept you grounded, who made you feel love. Now, he was gone. What was worse, you didn't understand why.

You knew why he left, but you didn't understand it. There was no reason for Asmodeus to continue to be faithful to Lucifer. Yet, he remained his loyal servant, beckoning at every call. Lucifer was out of the cage for years and didn't give one care about coming to find Asmodeus. But, Asmodeus hears a rumor that Lucifer is out and goes running back to Hell. It was reckless. It was stupid. But, you still couldn't help but want to be there with him.

He was risking his life for a cause you no longer believed in; but, if he died, he would be taking you down with him, whether it be emotionally, mentally or physically. Being a demon though, your pride was far too great to call him and ask him to come back.

So, you remained in solitude in the house that you and Asmodeus had called "home" for decades. You began to revert back to your old demonic tendencies. You began killing. You began enjoying killing. You felt unstoppable and you felt your human emotions slowly slipping away.

There was almost no humanity left when there was a sudden knock on your door. You cautiously opened it to reveal your husband standing on the other side. "Y/N," he began, trailing off as he was unsure of what to say.

The look you gave him was stone-cold as you moved away from the door, allowing him to enter. You sat down at the dining room table and after a couple of minutes, he entered the room, sitting down next to you. "What do you want Asmodeus?" you asked him.

"I shouldn't have left," he told you, trying to take your hand in his but you flinched away, visibly angry at him. "But you did. Like you always do whenever it comes to Lucifer," you replied. "I needed to know. I needed to go back to Hell and see if he was really out," he explained.

"And? What did you find?" you questioned. "He is out. And, he has a son - a Nephilim. A man who's power will exceed anything we have ever seen," Asmodeus replied. "Well, nothing's stopping you from going to find him," you responded, not giving him an inch to try and apologize.

Asmodeus was starting to get frustrated as he said, "Y/N, this isn't like you." "This is exactly like me - the old me," you stated. "This isn't my wife. The Y/N I know. The Y/N I love. Where did she go?" he asked.

"You took her when you left to go back to Hell," you responded. Asmodeus felt guilty and sad seeing you like this. He had to make things right. "In sickness and in health... 'til death do us part," he muttered. "What?" you questioned, unsure of where he was going with those words.

"In sickness and in health, 'til death do us part," he restated. "Lucifer is my sickness. We both know that. But, you promised to love me anyways - until the moment we die," Asmodeus explained. Your expression softened at his words as you began to feel the emotions pour back in. He was right. You vowed to stand by him no matter what. You promised to love him no matter what. And, you did.

You let your head fall as you took in a deep breath, emotions overwhelming you. When you looked back up at Asmodeus, he encaptured your lips in a deep kiss, tangling his hand in the back of your hair.

You immediately kissed back, pulling him closer. After another moment, you broke away and Asmodeus said, "I love you, Y/N. In sickness and in health." You rested your forehead against his as you replied, "I love you too, no matter what."

Asmodeus placed another soft kiss on your lips before pulling you into a tight hug, never wanting to let you go. You meant everything to him. More than Lucifer, even though it didn't seem like it at times. But, he was going to spend the rest of time proving it to you.
