Prompt: "You can't throw salt water taffy at a ghost."
When you search up the definition of a trickster, it pulls up many results. Most talk about mythical creatures that go against normal behavior and like to play tricks on other people/creatures. By definition, Gabriel was a trickster.
You had known Gabriel for about a year now, and you knew damn well that he wasn't actually a trickster, like he claimed to be, but was in fact an archangel -- one of the most powerful angels in Heaven. But, if you considered his personality, he was more like a trickster than any other creature.
When you first met Gabriel, you had met up with the Winchesters on a case. He was posing at the trickster, and you and the boys killed him, or at least you thought you did. You parted ways with the Winchesters after that case. You always worked alone and only met up with them occasionally to keep in touch.
A week or so later, the trickster had found you again. He explained that something about you had him intrigued and offered to help you in some cases. You of course refused, telling him that you could never work with a monster. But, Gabriel didn't take no for an answer.
He kept his distance, but on every case you worked, he would show up, assisting you in whatever way he could. Then he would disappear and you wouldn't see him until the next time you worked a case. Reluctantly, the two of you started working together and he revealed to you that he wasn't a trickster at all. He was an archangel.
You asked every question you could think of and he answered each one as detailed as he could. The two of you grew closer and closer, becoming best friends. But the closer you grew, the more of a pain in the ass he became for you. Today was no exception.
You were in your motel room just minding your own business when Gabriel showed up. "Hey Gabe," you said with a soft smile. "Y/N, I'm bored," Gabriel replied in a sing-song voice. "Oh no," you said, more to yourself. When Gabriel said those words, it meant bad news. Gabriel was a master at keeping himself entertained, and usually he made you his source of entertainment.
"You like going to escape rooms, right?" Gabriel asked you. "Yes," you responded hesitantly, unsure of where Gabriel was going with his question. "Can we go to one?" he asked, his eyes gleaming with hope. You pondered the idea for a moment. It was a bad idea. A horrible idea. But you still found yourself saying, "Sure."
"Okay, come on," Gabriel stated, taking your hand in his head and leading you towards the motel door. When the two of you stepped out the door, instead of finding yourselves outside the motel, you were inside another large room that you had never seen before.
It was an antiquely decorated living room with old-fashioned furniture placed nicely all around. The room wasn't well lit but you could see everything around you. "Where the hell are we?" you asked Gabriel.
"An escape room. My version of an escape room," Gabriel replied. "What does that mean?" you questioned, narrowing your gaze at Gabriel. "In normal escape rooms, you solve riddles to get out. You have to do the same thing but you have to solve the riddle to kill the creature," Gabriel explained. "What creature?" you asked him.
Gabriel didn't respond. Instead, he wiggled his eyebrows and disappeared. Great. Thanks Gabe. What a friend. You took a deep breath and looked around the room. There was a fireplace to your left, and next to it was a black iron fire poker, along with some other fireplace accessories. On top of the fireplace was a can of salt. To the right of the fireplace, hanging on the wall, was a display of real silver and gold knives. Lastly, on the other side of you, was a bar set up with holy water, holy oil and matches.
"Well, at least there's some stuff in here," you muttered to yourself. You looked towards the table that was in the center of the room. There were papers scattered all around. You went to pick one up and right as your fingers touched one of the papers, the lights flicked off. You couldn't see anything. Your heart began to race a little as you held your breath, making no noise as you tried to listen to your surroundings.
Crash.
Something broke the glass table that you were right next to. You took a step back and looked around. The lights started flickering on and off rapidly. Every second the lights were on, you could see a figure standing on the opposite side of the room from you. It was a little girl. She was in a white nightgown, with long black hair and very dark brown eyes. She looked angry. She was holding a small brown teddy bear that was missing an ear in one hand and one of the knives off of the display on the wall in the other.
Neither of you moved. You looked down at the papers and noticed the headline of one of the papers read: LITTLE GIRL MURDERED BY HER BELOVED FATHER WITH HIS FAVORITE HUNTING KNIFE.
The little girl was a ghost. Think. What do you need to do? Salt and burn the bones. You looked around. The bones were nowhere in sight. Maybe they were hiding in something. You scanned the room again. The little girl was closer to you now. The only thing that could hide the bones was a cabinet behind the girl.
You made a move to maneuver around her but you were thrown back across the room, into a small table that was set up there. "Ooh, you're doing great kiddo," you suddenly heard Gabriel say. You looked up to see him sitting in a chair that was set at the table you just crashed through. You glared at him and replied, "Uh, a little help?"
Gabriel shrugged his shoulders before replying, "She's coming for you, not me." You rolled your eyes and moved, again, this time grabbing the matches off of the bar, tricking the girl to go over there while you moved to look in the cabinet.
There was a black bag in the cabinet, and when you looked into it, you saw the bones of the little girl. You threw them into the fireplace, grabbed the salt off of the top of the fireplace, and salted and burned the bones. The little girl erupted into flames and you let out a deep breath.
When she was gone, you stood up and began walking to Gabriel. "You did it," he said sarcastically, with a smile. You opened your mouth to say something when you were thrown across the room again. "Oh, so close," you heard Gabriel add. Again, a pain in your ass, but you had more important things to worry about. Why didn't the spirit die?
You were thrown by the fireplace and quickly went to grab the iron fire poker. Right as you swung the fire poker, it turned into a black snake instead. You let out a scream as you desperately tried to get the snake off you, the whole time you could hear Gabriel laughing.
It disappeared a few minutes later and you grabbed the salt. You threw it at the ghost, but right as you threw the salt at the ghost, it turned into salt water taffy. This time Gabriel practically doubled over in laughter before he said, "You can't throw salt water taffy at a ghost."
If looks could kill, Gabriel would be brutally murdered. You were thrown again, hitting your head on the wall, the lights still going on and off like crazy. You looked on the ground to your right and saw a teddy bear. It was the teddy bear the little girl had been holding. Her spirit was attached to it.
But what were you going to use for salt? You saw a salt water taffy laying on the ground a couple feet of way next to your matches. Technically, it was salt. You moved quickly towards it, ripping the bear open a little. You shoved the taffy inside the bear and then lit it on fire. This time the girl erupted again and when she was gone, the lights returned to normal.
You stayed still for a few more moments until you heard Gabriel start to clap. You looked over at him to see him standing with a smirk on his face. "You actually did it this time," he told you. You stood up and began slapping him in his arm, making him chuckle which made you more mad.
"What made you think any of that was okay? I could have gotten seriously hurt! Or died! How would you feel if you killed your best friend? Did you even consider the possibility? Probably not. Well, unlike you, I'm not immortal. I'm human," you rambled on, your feistiness just making Gabriel smile more.
Before you could continue, Gabriel grabbed you by the waist and crashed his lips into yours. The kiss was so intense and passionate. You never knew you had been craving it so badly until it happened. He pulled away slightly and you took a small breath before instantly crashing your lips to his again, running your fingers through his hair.
This time when you pulled away, you looked at him happy but slightly confused. "There was no way I was going to let you actually get hurt. I care about you too much. It was just a little bit of entertainment," Gabriel said with a smirk.
You formed a smirk of your own, before looking Gabriel seductively in the eyes and saying, "There's more fun ways to entertain you." Gabriel's eyes lit up and in an instant the two of you were back at the motel room where you spent the entire night entertaining each other.
Always Keep Fighting!
